clumpy1 11 Posted September 23, 2014 Now why did you have to post a pic of that in my build thread, my efforts look feeble now Not in the slightest matey I'm pretty confident you will know this car it is truly another level that was not my intention
clumpy1 11 Posted September 23, 2014 This is the car
swiftkid 1 Posted September 23, 2014 Lol, let me get the engine running before I go snail shopping! Havnt seen it before, looks pretty mental. Though
clumpy1 11 Posted September 23, 2014 Thing is you have all the part's to build one of these engine's well a fair bit some specialist bit's required for 950PS (that's a 9 second quarter car!!!) if you can get the power down that is.
swiftkid 1 Posted October 11, 2014 Well havnt made much progress on it recently, my daily has been playing up so been taking that apart. One thing I did sort today which I'm very happy about, hanging pedal now works. I really didn't want a floor mount and after various people have told me it's not possible I was very nearly going to give up. Bought some Slimline fan brackets, just need fans now! swiftkid 1 Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) Well not a whole lot of progress to talk about, bought a house so it's decorating and fixing duties but this weekend I managed a bit of work on it. Moved the car across from my mums garage to mine, lot more room to work on it now I have a double garage! Finally got round to fitting my fans, just need to figure out what Resistors I need for 3 stage fan and make a wiring loom for them. Wanted a day on it today but there was a local rally on which sounded like a lot more fun so I went to watch a load of these :-) I've always wanted one, I think if I ever sell the corrado I'd have to try get one Edited April 12, 2015 by swiftkid
Philuk 0 Posted April 13, 2015 I've got to get some slimline fans for mine too Dave so when you make your loom double your purchase ;)
VAG-hag 0 Posted April 13, 2015 Are you using the std control unit for fans? If so no need for resisters unless you really want to have the fans at different speeds.....
Sean_Jaymo 0 Posted April 13, 2015 I'd agree, really no need for different speeds, they are so quiets and efficient when compared to OE stuff that all fitting resistors does is increase heat in the wiring loom! I've got one 11" fan and it can handle the cooling on it's own no problem.
swiftkid 1 Posted April 19, 2015 Lol Yea I'll double up on looms Phil! I know what you guys are saying and agree but I just like the idea of having it all working as it was designed but upgraded, I'll have a think about it, it's one less thing to sort I guess. Well I'm making steady progress, aim is to get it to all types in the next month, opptimistic but doable. Pulled the shifter out yesterday ready for mk4 stuff, decided I'm going to relocate the battery to the boot so need to grab a bmw battery cable and find a suitable junction box for the bay. Meant to get to scrapyard today for parts but was my mates housewarming last night and I am huuuuuuuung over! Also got pedal put in place, needs a bit of tweaking to get it right but pretty happy with it

swiftkid 1 Posted May 15, 2015 Well what a nightmare, had planned to take it to all types in Wales this weekend, aimed to get it booked in for mot but just 1 thing after another! I'd converted the floor mount pedal to a hanging one, fired up engine after putting it all back together and nothing... Urgh, luckily after a little head scratching it was just pins in wrong order, once that was changed it revved freely. Ordered some fan connectors to make my fan loom which havnt come yet so looks a right bodge job. But the nail in the coffin was, literally 20 minutes before it was due for mot the bloody bonnet cable clip snapped! Managed to bodge it and set off for station but abs light came on, power steering was making a right noise, plus other things I just wasn't happy with so turned round and parked it back in garage for when I can be arsed to work on it again. Now on the lookout for a permanent fix to the crappy bonnet clip.
fla 9 Posted May 15, 2015 Dave those issues are childs play for someone with your knowledge! Is is the handle end thats broken off? I replaced the thin black snapped plate with an L-bracket about 8 years ago. Just drilled a hole the right size through it, screwed it to the handle frame and so far its been ok. swiftkid 1 Posted May 15, 2015 Yea, easy enough to fix but after spending nearly 2 weeks solid on it quite soul destroying! I'll pick it back up in a couple of weeks and should be pretty awesome, it wanted to spin up in the dry with barely any throttle! Yea sounds like a good idea that, nice easy fix! Dox 23 Posted May 15, 2015 Mine puts the abs light on if the battery is a little down on power or a jump started, if the lights off at the time of the test its a pass. Mine also prefers a warm engine bay for some reason? I've swapped the pump for a different part number but its too early to declare it fixed as I've been there before several times - disturbing wiring plugs / relays etc seems to temporarily fix the fault only for it to return days or weeks later............
