Been a bit lazy when it comes to updates, the car is not far off being ready now.

Couple of pics that show how I got round the Skoda sunroof motor being in the wrong place for the W8 light and the rotary switch to control it then the instal I have started in the boot.

Thanks guys

Fitted some small speakers in the original tweeter places, they will be for some sound staging and will need some setting up.

Started the door builds today, will have a 6", a 5 1/4" with tweeter

52633553361_9cfd7917db_z.jpg

Started with a piece of 10mm bolted to the door then used the adapters to fit aftermarket 6" speakers in a mk5 golf (rear speakers of the front doors) cut them down to fit in the space. Followed by a peice of 18mm to make a plate to fit both speakers on them

Need to make the rest to make it look pretty but hopefully thats a job for tomorrow

Started the morning thinking, god, what have I done and almost ripped it out to start again but after some thinking about it I decide to continue.

Cut a piece to fit around the speaker plate and to form the pocket, cut out the area of the baffle plate and fixed it to the door panel.

Then with it all in place I glued the 2 parts together, the plan being it will be screwed to the door panel and will come of with that but is also firmly bolted to the door so the 6" bass does not rattle about.

I used some thick plastic sheet to form the bottom of the pocket

The glue takes a while to set if not heated so I'll leave that to dry thoroughly before I remove the panels, I'll then make a piece to back the tweeter, fill and smooth with P38 and cover.

Not sure weather to put a solid panel in front of the pocket or make a net style front

These are the sort of build threads we need to keep this forum going. Excellent work Graham. Are you attending dublogic this year?

I covered them in fabric, the same fabric I used for the roof lining, A,B,C panels and the boot which I got from here:

Glued it all with this spray glue which I cant rate enough:

Whilst I was in the drivers door I also had the 3 wires left from the door lock (where I now have Passat rears fitted, so thought I would move the wires into the car and make a lock/unlock switch

Just bought the switch from an Up! Mii etc so now just need to fit it into one of the dash blanks

Been away for a while, made myself a list of things needed to finish the car off, started at 40+ lines now down to 22 which are mainly paint where I made mistakes in flatting it back or wasn't happy with the finish

Bought a 7" MoTeC display so now busy making that work with the basic Corrado wiring

52633750094_088205cac4_z.jpg

Also bought a new 3" exhaust, that should be fun to fit 🙂

This summer it will be on the road !!

Oh yeah, and for the next upgrade I have a dsg gearbox 😉

Bought myself a cheap ebay exhaust from Germany was hoping for the best but was pleasently surprised when it arrived.

3" system so was also expecting some fitting issues but it fits under there nicely

Only problem I had was the hanger at the front of the rear box which I had to cut off and weld on a new one.

Unfortunately they only did it with a round tailpipe as well but you cant have everything, maybe Ill put one on it 🙂
