daves16v 1 Posted March 14, 2013 Did anyone see the episode the other night where he got the Boxster S for £1,000?! Had a tiptronic gearbox fault which was resolved with a gearbox oil and filter change and then was pretty much good to go. Mental. Haha yes, Mike got very excited about that one and rightly so. Jim 2 Posted March 14, 2013 Thought the brake discs looked a bit thin after the lathing though.. wasn't convinced on that at all! :|

What gets me is surely you would try the gearbox oil change first then if that didnt work flog it for 1k
Wullie 1 Posted March 14, 2013 Is it just me or did anyone else get the feeling there was something just a wee bit "iffy" about the car purchase. Must agree about the discs though, they looked like wafers. I think they must have been below minimum thickness.
joebloggsVR69 0 Posted March 14, 2013 Yep, I find it hard to believe an oil change fixed the gearbox. They probably blew their budget fixing it, and came up with this story  The guy sold it to Mike for £1k.. if the camera's weren't there I'm sure he'd have told Mike to bugger off
Harrier 1 Posted March 14, 2013 It didn't quite make sense that it would work ok in tiptronic mode but would slip in Drive mode ? Anyhow imagine how sick the seller would have felt letting it go for £1k !
seanl82 23 Posted March 14, 2013 It was bought from an ad on a Porsche Forum. Maybe if anyone knows which one it'll be worth looking up as I'm sure they will be talking about it, and even know the car/previous owner. I thought there was something a bit fishy about it too tbh. joebloggsVR69 0 Posted March 14, 2013 Apparently he's on boxa.net. Think this is the thread discussing the show, but cant be arsed to register to view it: http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=56416 Hmm.. link wont work.... anyway, it's on this board: http://www.boxa.net/forum/index.php?showforum=
Dan_Storm 0 Posted March 15, 2013 Funny how they didn't mention a brake fluid or engine oil change on the Boxter! It had been sitting for years so they must have done it. I know they can't go into detail on everything, but at least put it on the cost sheet! There was another episode recently where the car had brand new tyres, but it didn't show up on the cost total either. They must end up loosing money on the cars. Love watching the show, just wish it was edited with a bit more realism :)
Harrier 1 Posted March 28, 2013 Watched the TVR Cerbera episode again tonight & i keep thinking i might like one, which is probably a really bad idea ! The rust in the chassis seems to be a common problem .Fantastic looking car though. Must be a middle age thing though, wanting one !
seanl82 23 Posted March 29, 2013 It was pretty bad that rust though! Can't see many having a decent original chassis. If I was in the market for one, I'd factor that into the price I was willing to pay, unless it'd been replaced recently with a zinc coated powdercoated one. Such an amazing car though! :shades:
