seanl82 23 Posted August 11, 2020 Hi guys, just got home. They had a mare with camber. I'm at closer to .5 degrees than 1. Hopefully it settles a bit. It was difficult to make the adjustment in fairness. They raised it, adjusted it, lowered it to check and repeated about 5 times to get it there. I have standard bolts though and every time it slackened off, it would go out again. It was a young guy doing it with an old pro coming in and out to help him a bit, but I think I'll go somewhere else again in few weeks just to double check. Toe was set perfectly according to the print out (I was watching the whole time too) but it still feels like it's pulling to the left a bit - even taking camber of the road into account. If its the rear axle many came out of the factory sligh;y out - Vince was telling me you can only get some of them just outside but as mentioned they left the factory like that and nowt you can do. Its because when they built them they dropped them off a 50 foot cliff and the body just landed on the suspension to save time. 1xshaunx1 27 Posted August 11, 2020 Vince doesn’t moan about the bolts on the front strut either, because he knows how you o do it.
seanl82 23 Posted August 11, 2020 Rear was fine, I set that when fitting. There isn't much adjustment on them, just the brackets slide forward/back a few mm. It would feel like the car was crabbing if it was off. I just left them finger tight when refitting, dropped the car down and did the bolts up so mine were good, although camber was obviously a bit off (neg) due to it being lowered. No adjustment for that though.

Imagine his surprise when I said it has them as the last place couldn't sort it without them. Now he says it needs different ones...c'mon What bolts do you have mate ? Do you have the correct wishbones fitted? Too long and you won’t get the strut out wide enough to correct the camber
seanl82 23 Posted August 11, 2020 Yeah correct wishbones. They were all over the place between +1° & -2.5°, just couldn't make adjustments minor enough to get it correct. One side is -.57° & the other is -.65°. I'm gonna take it to another place in a few weeks anyway, there just aren't any with a Hunter setup near me - I have to go to Exeter which is 38 miles away. None are specialists either unfortunately, just the big tyre companies who work with modern stuff day in day out.
Keyo 47 Posted August 11, 2020 It wasn't the Eibach pro kit camber bolts by chance you were using chap = as I purchased some of them and Vince gave them me back and said no good.

Sorry for jumping in Sean 👍 All i know mate I purchased them off ebay and when my car went in for its undercarriage restoration when completed he just gave them me back and said they were no good. Link attached of the ones I purchased back in 2018 still have them in the package in the parts shed . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Volkswagen-Corrado-16v-G60-VR6-Eibach-Ez-Front-Camber-Bolts-PAIR-5-81250K/231410249742?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
seanl82 23 Posted January 23, 2021 Little bit of steering wheel refurbishment today. Granted, not a huge difference but it was looking a bit dry and dull before and no amount of 'feeding' would get it back. I've got the Gliptone kit for the seats on the way (was attempted to be delivered yesterday but wasn't in so redelivery scheduled for Monday). I re-coloured them back in 2014 but I went with a satin finish at the time, and have been wishing I stuck with standard Matt since so re-doing them again. Keyo 47 Posted January 23, 2021 Thats ideal - I think when folks over do them or get them retrimmed they never look right afterwards - nice to have a bit of patina.

I've changed my fb name a few times, got a ban for using Jim Royle (I'd changed my name on the same account from Juan Kerr) a few years ago, rejoined the same day under another pseudonym.. Keyo Corrado has a good ring to it? I had a genuine account but got sick of reading about friends! having a cup of tea and a biscuit....

_Matt_ 31 Posted January 24, 2021 Fair play :) you're right though Facebook is used loads in the professional and criminal world. I've never known a potential recruitee not to be looked up on Facebook before interview in my working world, and that's across the entire organisation and not just my specialism.I'm not that bothered though. Would hope for myself it would drum up some conversation in interview about cars and lead to my perfect job.Aye Bob.Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
seanl82 23 Posted February 15, 2021 Bit more on the interior today. Stripped the seats and door cards etc out ready to be re-coloured again tomorrow. Also took the headliner out as when I did it a few years ago, I didn't use a fabric that was foam lined so there were 2 bits on the edge around sunroof panel where the glue had bled through. (Only about 10mm each but it annoyed me!). The overlap of the sunroof panel wasn't as I'd liked either so it all came out to be re-done. Still a bit to do, but almost there now and done for the evening.
Cressa 44 Posted February 16, 2021 Well done in taking on the roofing job, that is one I never fancied doing. I did a repair previously and the glue bled through so I feel your pain. Not a 2 minute removal in getting the roof lining out 😱, keep us all posted

Walked around it for a year employing all manor of delaying tactics until I bit the bullet one day and got stuck in…it was swapped inside about 20 minutes, no drama! Yeah it's not difficult really, just need to be careful removing the pillar trims. It's back in but the sunroof is very stiff now. I can crank it back and forward by hand with a bit of effort as the mechanism is strong, but doubt the motor will be man enough. 😔 May leave it for a little while to 'bed in' so the foam compresses and softens a little.....
