Good work with the inlet mate, the furniture clinic kits are good once you have done them get some gliptone , its ace stuff and will keep your leather clean soft and smelling nice

 

At least when you come back off your travells you will be fresh at it again

The glue on the side strips is a real pain to get off , you can get a little rubber wheel on a drill that should bring it off well

Cheers for the tip about the rubber wheel Matt, I'll definitely invest in one of those! I've already got some gliptone cleaner and conditioner so all good there mate.

Looking really good and imo looks much better with original grill back on. Engine bay is really coming on as well, great job on the manifold.

 

For a few quid you can also get a new engine warning sticker that goes on the plastic trim attached to the slam panel. Will smarten up the engine bay even more. here is a link to a repro sticker available on ebay if your interested:-

Just little touches but nice and cheap and make a difference especially when you have gone to the trouble of making a nice job of cleaning the engine bay.

Already in my ebay watch list buddy! Could really do with a new rad top cover tbh as the threads are stripped on mine and it rattles about. Will get them when I get a new cover. Cheers for going to the effort of putting the links up though!

Are you going to National day, or any other events in it in the near future?

 

Sorry Sean - just seen your reply. I could not make National Day for a number of reasons, including the fact that the MOT has run out on the Corrado and I already have had to put three cars through thier MOT's this month as well as taxing and insuring the Golf.

 

Yes I have been tardy with updating my thread - bollocking accepted :)

 

Even got a ribbing from the MOT tester who observed that I have covered less than 1000 miles in the Golf over the past 4 years.

Small update.

 

Not had a reply from the re-trimmers I've emailed for my bolster repair. Theres a garage locally that does interior repairs, so I'll give them a call next week to see if they can help. All the seat covers have been removed and all thats required is to remove the stitching, use the old leather as a template, then stitch it all back in. Doesn't even need to be an exact colour match as I'll be re-colouring the lot with the furniture clinic kit. My next door neighbour has a machine and I'd do it myself if I knew where to source the leather from. I just don't want to buy some random stuff online and it be a completely different grade/texture. Anyway, picked up a cloth interior as some of you may have seen in the parts for sale section, and used the passenger seat to replace my worn and crumbling drivers foam. All that needs doing now apart from the leather repair is a set of B pillars then the interior will be finished.

 

Got myself a set of 288mm calipers so just need to order the hose kit and a set of disks, then I'm pretty much where I want to be before respray!

 

Oh yeah, picked up a set of RX228s today and whipped em straight on after a good clean. Ideally could do with a refirb, although they're not too bad, just a bit of light kurbing which I can live with for the time being. N/S Front needs a new tyre due to puncture but I'll get that fitted in the next week or two.

 

Possibly a small 5mm drop on the front to sort the stance out, but I'll see if there are any rubbing issues first.

Yeah mine is off the road now too. I might tax it though just to get it in work and undercover for the winter. Sounds daft that I've just bought some wheels ready to lay it up, but I have the money atm so may as well get what I want while I can.

Mot is up tuesday so it will be going into winter storage there are a few job's to do and some new stuff planned won't say too much at the minute though as it is always changing :bonk:

Dal - Wheels are 17x7.5 et 35, tyres are 205/40/17 so its all a perfect fit.

In other news, seat covers now in with re-trimmer for the bolsters to be repaired. Four sections replaced with Jag Mag (Jaguar Magnolia Leather) which was the closest texture we could find. Not sure when they'll be ready as I told them there is no rush, so guessing a week or so. Good little industrial estate I didn't know existed with a panel beater, CNC machinist, metal polisher, re-trimmer, and head rebuild specialist which could all come in handy in the future!

 

Once all that is back, I'll get it all fitted, then recolour the entire interior with the furniture clinic kit, fit the 288's to the front and I'll be really happy!

 

It'll then be all hands to the pump compiling parts ready for respray.

 

 

 

A couple more pics of the wheels, I was a tad unsure when I first put them on, but I absolutely love them now and I'm really happy.

 

 

 

 

 

Excuse it being filthy, its been sat on the drive and not washed for 5 weeks now! No pics of the other side, as its still got a speedline on the front! New tyre being fitted tomorrow to the other RX228.

 

I'll get some pics up once the interior is back together although the new colour is a bit off. Like I said though I'll be recolouring it so all good. :thumbleft:

 

 

Oh yeah, looking at the pic reminds me I also need a splitter!

Ha ha, it was indeed! Thought that was you behind me in the VRS, but couldn't see properly! It takes me five minutes to drive into work, eight minutes to cycle, and 25 to walk. No brainer really.

Regarding respray Sean remember you can only get passenger scraper seal's now driver's are obselete ( I got one of the last one's) I would make sure you have one incase you need it. Looking Braw by the way keep it up :thumbleft:
