Corrado Part Duex - 24V Aqua Blue - She's gone.

Recommended Posts

Here's hoping mate! I've spent enough time sweating over it over the last few weeks for me to put up with the crap asthmatic hamster coughing on me when I turn the fans on!

Who knows, I may even drive it one day!

I've started fitting up the rear beam brake lines today, but I've lost or broken most of the little plastic brake line clips that hold it in place! Does anyone know the part number for new items?

I managed to source a Polo 9N3 Gear linkage and a 02J shift tower from a mk4 Golf earlier this afternoon. The Gear linkage obviously doesn't fit, I need to get the conversion housing and arm sorted and then I can fit that. I fitted the tower mechanism this afternoon. Went in easily enough, the only concern I have is that the shift weight catches on the radiator upper return pipework. What can I do to change this?

All in all, not a bad way of spending £20!

Could you tell list what wires are needed to hook up climatronic to a corrado?

Pinout please? Would be greatly appreciated so I can make a DIY swap. I started this on mine

Which plug combination version do you have? I've only worked out the pin outs for the 17/12 pin plugs.

I used this setup:

T17:

1: Blower Live from N1

2: Not Used

3: A/C "ON" Switch

4: RPM Signal from U1/6

5: Power feed from A1/7

6: Earth - I used the earth stud above where the ABS ECU lives, there are 2 earth points, either will be fine.

7: Not Used

8: Outside temp Pin 2 (Mk4 External temp sensor)

9: Not Used

10: Illumination feed, I took mine from the old heater control feed

11: A/C Pressure switch Pin 3

12: A/C "on" signal from ECU - I have a 24v so the pin out to for the ECU will be different for 12v

13: Not Used

14: Not Used

15: Not Used

16: Not Used

17: Not Used

T12:

1: OBD Diagnostic feed

2: A/C Pressure switch Pin 2

3: Not Used

4: Not Used

5: Outside temp pin 1

6: Not Used

7: Not Used

8: Sunlight Sensor Pin 3 - The other sensor pin goes to earth

9: A/C Pressure switch Pin 1

10: Speed Sensor from W1

11: Not Used

12: Not Used

I've not looked in how to wire in the 12v fan controller yet, i'll get back to you when I figure that out. May not be for a while as i'm not planning on getting the aircon fitted until next year .

Im doing a 24v and 02m seap to my rado too.

Did you make the harness yourself or did you buy one? Do you know the pinouts and where they go?

Id be more then happy to make a diy for a 24v swap to ce2 wiring. Seems like no one makes diy for those all 1.8t i know most of the wriing is the same but i know some are different too.

1.8t and 24v use the same ecu so the vast majority of wiring is the same. It's listed in quite a few places on the 24v conversion thread what is what.

I made the loom myself with reference to the clubgti 1.8t thread and the vehicle wiring diagrams. Not too hard, only about 10 or 12 wires if memory serves me right.

How come you decided to go 02m? Yeah it's 6 speed but the final drive ratios are broadly the same as a 5 speed rado box but with the penalties of much more weight, more shifting and additional mounting brackets.

Just I case of ever doing a turbo or charger. The o2m is a much more solid and high hp ready tranny compared to the 02a.

I was doing pinouts too see what goes to what. I am using a 93 hvac harness with the hvac wiring cut off and the switch cut off.

I am wiring it to where, when the climatronic on one of the pressure switches turns it on. It will send power to the fan module t8/2 it will turn on the 2nd speed fans. This is how the original setup worked so I'm trying to put the climatronic into that.

Could you give me the 4 pinouts on what the pressure switch does for the mk4?

Like the t17/11 goes to pin 3 whats pin 3 do?

T12/2 pin 2 whats that one do?

T12/9 pin 1 whats that do?

Or are all pressure switches the same?

I'll have to dig out my notes on exactly what pin does what but all 3 pins are all the same pressure switch which sits on one of the air con lines.

As I said earlier, I've not looked too much at the air con side of the build as it's not the proity at the moment. I've still got plenty of other jobs to do on the car before it even moves from my driveway :-)

When I looked into it before, it was possible to wire it all in without the need for an extra hvac harness as the standard fan control module (in a vr6 anyway) was setup to work with aircon, regardless of it being fitted or not, when the a/c is switched on, the fans should run at speed 1.

The best way of looking at things, the air con system is a separate system to the cooling. The climate control will tell the cooling system that it is on and then the cooling controller takes its info from the brown plug in the thermostat housing and the pressure sensor (I think!) to keep the cooling under control.

All the cooling system needs to know, is that the air con is on and within pressure specs!

In other news today! Fitted the polo 02j hybrid gear change! Feels soo much better than stock!

Also cut my glove box down so that it fits properly with the new heater box. For anyone who wants to know, you need to shorten the length by 2.5 inches to leave 5mm of clearance at the back. Still leaves a healthy size space!

You have to trim the glove box to fit the climatronic in?

I copied and pasted this from the DIY thread I made last night. Seems like it makes sense lmk if it seems correct

Ok here's a quick write up

T17

1 goes to the yellow/black wire

3 goes to the green/ blue from the ac compressor relay

4 goes to rpm signal goes to U2 Check here to make sure you get the right one (http://www.a2resource.com/electrical/CE2.html)

5 goes to blue/red It starts at nt6/5 and splits into 2 going to ac compressor relay and other goes to this pin

6 ground I used the ground from the ac compressor relay it splits into 2 and goes to the block of ground above the fusebox.

8 outside temp (mine works it seems like it is right below the fresh air vent so I didn't wire it)

10 tap into any light source

12 goes to the all green wire. It starts at the brown 4 pin connector that connects to the fan harness. 1 goes the the yellow plug which goes to the ecu and the other goes to this pin

T12

1 obd diagnostics pin 7

2 goes to t4/2 on pressure switch. Which goes to green/ blue inside the car. So just tap into that wire.

5 mine worked so didn't wire it

8 sunlight sensor pin3

9 ambient temp sensor on pressure switch which is t4/2

10 speed sensor (put one of those single blue connectors and plug it in the blue connector at the small box for all blue plugs) there are blue, yellow, black etc... If you don't know what I mean. Use blue.

As for the green/yellow on the ac compressor relay I didn't use it as the climatronic has it built it.

4 pin connector brown connects to fan harness

1 red/yellow power from fusebox goes to n t6/1

2 white/black goes to the small air pump on the pass did drear corner really small

3 green/ blue pretty much turns on ac (goes to pressure switch)

4 2 greens. 1 goes to yellow plug to engine harness to ecu and the Other goes to the t17/12 this goes to the fan module

The pressure switch pin out black 4 pin

1 green white goes to the temp switch

2 goes to ambient temp sensor

3 red black (2nd speed temp sensor). Goes to fan module. Also goes to 3 prong temp sensor.

4 red/yellow is the power wire

Temp sensor pin out 4 pin brown

1 green /white goes to pressure switch

2 black yellow goes to module and black plug inside the car.

3 black/ white goes to the fan module

4 green/yellow goes to the green/blue on the 4 pin plug inside the car the brown one from earlier that goes to the ac compressor relay and ac power switch

How it works.

When you turn ac on the blue/red always has power. When you turn ac on it will send a connection down to flip the relay and send power to the ac temp switch which basically goes straight threw and connects at the pressure switch. Which opens it allowing red/ yellow to send power to the red/black wire on the pressure sensor plug to the fan module telling it to turn on the 2nd speed fans.

Hope this works and helps you guys. Lmk if I did something wrong on this. I might try to install it within the next couple days

You have to be careful not to rely on cable colours, they change from time to time.

The heater box is a lot bigger than the stock corrado item and as such you can't fit the glove box back in, it's too long. That's why you need to cut and shut 2.5 inches out of the middle.

I'll read over your write up later this evening and see how it sounds!

Oh btw, the climate needs a separate outside temp to work. You need a mk4 one as the Corrado one doesn't work with the mk4 climate. You'll in effect end up with 2 outside temp switches, one for the instrument cluster and one for the climate.

Thats good to hear i've got the polo parts on order, did you get the reverse switch adapter too? I forgot to order it!

It seems like my outside air temp is mounted on right before the fresh air vent opening on the box itself. Because I didn't have it hooked up and it was reading the right outside temp, I unplugged the sensor and it lost the outside temp so I think mines wired in. To the climatronic already

Oh I also just got done with the engine harness. What did you do with all the extra wires both in the ce2 plugs and mk4 plugs? I have a lot of extra ones. Just cut them down, depin, tape up?

Extra ones? I didn't have any extra wires?

This is the basic wiring you need to get the engine running

G1 /02 outside air temp

G1 /03 Fuel pump trigger

G1/04 15 +12V for ECU , VSS,

G1/05 Earth

G1/07 ECU Earth Trigger Wire-

I forgot to as well! I have the 02j reverse switch and some wires coming from it, just deciding on if I can be bothered to swap the plugs or spend 10 quid!
