VR6 on eBay

Recommended Posts

Hi all, this is my first post!

I'm going to look at the below VR6 on Friday and was wondering what you guys thought? I've read mixed things about the seller on here.

Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm really excited but don't want to spend my cash on the wrong machine!

I will also look at the G60 he has for sale.

Thanks.

Bodywork looks to be in good order, but quite high mileage and with a cloth interior, possibly a touch overpriced - that said it is a dealer so expected. Print off the buyers guide in the wiki section to take with you. Provided everything is in good order and the paperwork is good, you should be ok mate.

Some people here have had good experiences with TCS so I wouldn't let that put you off. Personally, while it looks like a nice example, the description is a bit vague in regards to service history. If you're going to see it, make sure you have a good look through the receipts and history as some parts may be getting tired now at 180k if they haven't ever been replaced. Could be a great example too on the other hand :)

Have you checked the classifieds here? IMO much better to buy from an enthusiast. Good luck!

service history with a folder full of bills and receipts

Always love to see that one. It just means it's broken someone elses heart before they sold it on!

hmmm, not sure what to say here, i just bought my first rado a few months ago from this guy, to be fair to him he was sound as a pound but i have had problems since. But i think thats mainly my fault because i got impatient and bought the first car i saw, if i had shopped around and test drove a few others maybe i wouldn't have bought this one but i dont know, the problems i have had are standard corrado problems - door handles etc.

my advice - go to a few classifieds first and talk to people and test drive a few, then you might go to this guy and the car will be all good, because mine is pretty good, there are just a few things i didnt notice that if id forced myself to be abit more knowledgable i maybe would have picked up on

and be careful you dont get swayed by immaculate bodywork and interior because theres more to these cars than that, which i am finding out now. He is very good at cleaning cars and making them look good because as soon as he pulled his gate open and it was there gleaming and spotless, i pretty much did a sex wee and handed my money over, it was only when we were in his kitchen doing paperwork that i saw the mot advisories saying wheel bearing play and a few other things but because i was in experienced i thought "not too much of a problem" - but these usually lead to other problems.

and im not sure if you will barter better than me but he wouldnt budge on price. at all.

having said that though i still love my car. its a vr6. everyone loves my car. except the mrs.

If it is the same 'The Corrado Specialist' i visited a few years ago, near derby way & ran out of his back yard, i would highly recommend staying as far away as possible!!!

IIRC i put feedback on here about them as he totally p***sed me around.......excuses of lost keys, keys left in another car which he had sold and needed to get them back, delayed me for several weeks to even go & view the car, ad said everything worked when in reality the alarm fob was broken....sun roof didnt operate at all....leather seats felt all greasy & slimy due to horrible silicone stuff to make them look good, the list goes on & on but the worst was the oil was very warm (thus he has ran it to temp to avoid any smoking) & a couple of mins after i had started it up to have a listen etc he walked up & turned it off & removed the keys!!!

i thanked him for wasting over 3 weeks of my time, for wasting several hours travelling there & for the wasted fuel & then promptly told him to go f**k himself

stay away, far away....in my opinion

edit - just checked the ebay store for these people & it is definitely the place. worst experience trying to buy a car ever!

Around 2004 I bought my first (of seven) Corrado from the chap at TCS. It was a Classic Green/Black cloth 2.0 16v (1994 M) with 65k on the clock and 2 owners. I loved that car. It was perfect, felt like brand new. Seem to remember I paid around £4k for it, which was top money at the time. It was brilliant though. I will always have fond memories of TCS for selling me my first Corrado. They had a lot of cars in stock in those days, several VR6s usually. I think they aren't as active with Corrados as they used to be and probably aren't as selective.

Well, some seriously negative reviews!!

I'm going tomorrow and will do my best to be savvy but not judge the guy.

I totally don't need a Corrado this side of Christmas so won't bust my load on arrival...hopefully!

Thanks for the words of wisdom, ill let you know...

This guy seriously messed me around and I would advise to stay well away. There are regularly good examples which come up on this forum which is where I would be looking.

Cheers

Scott

He tried selling me a car that was completely un road worthy and when I pointed out a number of issues he claimed he hadn't noticed them which was quite blatantly a lie, the car had been warmed up before I arrived and all the time I was there he was realy blunt and rude... This car may be alright just make sure you really check it over I would just rather people didn't deal with this guy. I can imagine he does stuff like removing grill badges and first aid kits to sell separately.

Didn't buy it.

The VR was really tidy with great bodywork/interior but I just didn't trust him after all the negative chat here!

He was really sound but did act dumb when I brought up obvious faults & issues (missing first aid kit, broken cig lighter, stiff door handles etc)

Past recipes also pointed to expensive ABS issues and he mentioned it was in the garage last week with faulty ABS...then told me it was a loose wire.

This was the first Corrado I've seen so was anxious to buy without seeing more.

I wouldn't say he deserves the negative press but I'd prefer to buy from an owner not a dealer.

He's about to pick up a Rado with 4k on the clock...!
