BUT i have a slight problem with the heaters. they blow hot and cold air but looks like steam is coming from the vents. and smells abit musky. all the windows mist up and dont clear unless i wipe them but comes back after a while hopefuly its nothing. seanl82 23 Posted March 19, 2014 Sounds like your heater matrix has given up the ghost mate. Either that or you have quite a leak into the cabin somewhere, and the stale water is causing the condensation and smell.
robwillz 10 Posted March 19, 2014 :( hope not as old owner claims its been changed.
Supercharged 2 Posted March 19, 2014 Don't drive it until it's been checked - very dangerous!
Jon_vr6 1 Posted March 19, 2014 If youve got steam coming from the vents then 90% its the heatermatrix check the coolant level on the header tank
robwillz 10 Posted March 20, 2014 ive had a look at her today, took the coolant tank cap off today after driving to work. (12miles away)but it was a orange rusty colour, but it went all over the place just spewed out. so had a look for the heater matrix on my lunch break. but noticed on the passenger side footwell was wet. but only on one side closest to centre console. robrado974 1 Posted March 21, 2014 Where did they manage to fit the cat litter?[/ What? Don't tell me you didn't know about filling the matrix with cat litter ? . It takes the smell of coolant away !
robwillz 10 Posted March 23, 2014 well ive bypassed it now but im stuck with soaking wet carpet on the passenger side. anything i can do to dry it? ive put down some towels to try soak it up.
dragon green 5 Posted March 23, 2014 You're best bet is wait for a dry day, take all the carpet out and stick it in the washing machine, the sound insulation may/may not be salvageable. No longer available, but plenty down the breakers,or eBay. For now, newspaper is good for soaking up
robwillz 10 Posted March 23, 2014 dont think the misses will be inpressed with me doing that haha. can i not use a carpet shampooer?
dragon green 5 Posted March 23, 2014 When I did my carpets,I took them out and used a vax,I replaced my insulation with a non absorbent type,on a warm day,the carpets don't take long to dry
