southerner88 10 Posted May 11, 2016 The exhaust manifolds have come up pretty good, not perfect but better at least. we kind of have an engine in the bay too! We have the back and gearbox mount in and the front mount is currently bricks, will sort that another time but the engine is in the bay! KipVR 1 Posted May 11, 2016 Nice to see another car getting the 3.2 treatment, in my opinion it totally transforms the car! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 12, 2016 Thanks kip, i am really looking forward to getting her back on the road! Slightly better photo of the engine in daylight Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
mic_VR 3 Posted May 12, 2016 Nice work. Saw this on FB last night, looks like it'll be up and running soon? You going to be doing all the wiring yourself?
southerner88 10 Posted May 13, 2016 Thanks mic, the main looms were done by Andy Outhwaite. All the electric looms we are doing. Run the headlight looms down through the chassis leg so had to extend it all and wrap it all up again. Also battery is now in the boot so had to run wiring for that Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 16, 2016 So a little bit more done, the front mount is now in place, ended up modding the front mount so the original oil cooler could be used, engine sits pretty nice now. Small problem with the driveshafts, forgot to move them into place when the engine went in so now need to remove them at the hub and slide them in to fit them. Finished off all of the lighting wiring, got it all wrapped up nicely in loom tape. Next is to start running the engine looms into the bay and sort out the vac system for the engine which no matter how many people help i am stuck with it all! swiftkid 1 Posted May 16, 2016 Progress looks good, did the exact same thing with the driveshafts, ended up jacking up the engine to get clearance. What you struggling with for vacuum? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 16, 2016 Cheers, swapping out the gearbox engine mount so might be able to do it then. Just where that little box goes too. I have put it on the front and dont know what to do with the lines. Each valve has 2 holes, the bottom hole goes to a pipe on the box and then out somewhere, the top hole has a short pipe then a t junction with nothing. The guy i bought it off really hasnt helped by snipping the pipes and not send the whole the whole thing to me... swiftkid 1 Posted May 16, 2016 Get rid of 1 valve, they are both the same so doesnt matter which. I did offside so I can replace t piece with elbow. Out of the valve then goes straight to other t-piece, one goes to the vacuum box, other side goes to back of inlet. Top of the valve goes to variable inlet valve. Not sure if I've sent you this photo yet, just only shows it if you zoom in. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 17, 2016 Cheers swifty! Will have a look soon and see what can be done! Any chance you have a close up of your vac pipe from the brake servo too? I got the 1.8 mk4 non turbo one, just want to double check the fitment Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 17, 2016 What goes onto the plastic trunking off the throttle body? Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
swiftkid 1 Posted May 17, 2016 Can't help you with that unfortunately, mine doesn't have it. Sent you pic of vac pipes, just taking some more! Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 17, 2016 Perfect! Was going to swap it out for some nice silicone and stainless pipework, so if its not needed even better! Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted May 21, 2016 All the vac lines are now sorted. Also got the fuel lines sorted, had swap out the in line fuel filter and the new filter has a built in return so i have removed the old return line and trimmed it to go to the filter instead of the engine. Maybe got a little carried away too so i had a test fit of the new radiator and then mounted the fans too it too. swiftkid 1 Posted May 22, 2016 Haha! I think every person I know has done the conversion has fallen foul of that one! Even me. Nice easy fix though! Is it startup day today then? Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

southerner88 10 Posted May 26, 2016 So now its tidying this all up and sorting the battery cables. Just got my fans and controller all wired up and sorted some of the interior cabling out too. Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted June 4, 2016 Soooo more progress! Front end is back on! Still cant choose between the badged grill and the badgless...what do people think? I have bought my waterless coolant and flush, just waiting for the inline filler cap to arrive and that can go in so i can run up to temp. Need to get some flanges made up so the downpipe and exhaust can be made and fitted then i think thats most of the big things done...just interior to sort out properly and put back together when she runs nicely. She sits quite well too Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
swiftkid 1 Posted June 4, 2016 Looks a very neat install! I've got water pipes absolutely friggin everywhere! Coming along nicely though, exciting times! I do have the flanges drawn up in cad if you need them as I got some lasered. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
southerner88 10 Posted June 4, 2016 Cheers Swifty, Its coming together now and I am indeed getting pretty excited! hopefully by the end of next week I will be getting her up to temp and possibly have an exhaust too! that would be cool if you don't mind dude, where did you get yours made at? southerner88 10 Posted June 8, 2016 Started putting some interior back in today. I have found a bit of a problem though, there is some oil leaking from around the chain housing. Going to take a few bits off tomorrow to get a better look at it, fingers crossed its nothing major! Each time i start her up, a new puddle appears on my gearbox with a trail from around the chain housing area. Will post my findings up here and hopefully someone can help me! southerner88 10 Posted June 11, 2016 It aint pretty, and certainly only a short term solution but i have managed to seal up the leak - thankfully! My in line filler cap eventually turned up yesterday but has been damaged in transit so wont work, only ordered it on may 30th!!! So i kind of ran out of things i could ve doing so i had a quick clean.. . Sent from my LG-D856 using Tapatalk
