tug 0 Posted April 21, 2006 It's insurance renewal time again! :) Gave Brentacre a call and I have to say I'm very impressed. Not only did they give me the best quote (£735 fully comp with all mods declared. I'm 24 with 3 years NCB), but it was so refreshing to speak to someone (John) who actually knows what they're talking about! I felt like he genuinely wanted to get me the best quote possible, and he made what is usually a very formal and slightly depressing experience into a friendly chat about Corrados. Felt like I was getting personal attention, Jerry McGuire stylee! Needless to say, I am now insured with Brentacre. 8)
StuartFZR400 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Got my renewal through and it was up by £7, yet I've earned another years ncd, with NUD. So used one of those search engines and they came up with a great range of blaggers, starting at £1,100/yr and the cheapest being NUD again, but £70 less than my renewal... w**kers

Henny 0 Posted September 1, 2006 Just added my new 'rat estate onto my policy for the nice additional sum of £330 so I can now drive either car whenever I feel (or at least when the 'rado will let me!  ) Big up for John at Brentacre for being an all round nice guy and doing me a damned good deal... 8)
martinb 0 Posted September 26, 2006 Because you are not dealing with Highway you are dealing with a broker, in this case Flux and Knott, they both add an amount to cover their costs and this will vary. I believe that insurance companies have a low offer for your first year and then wack it up in the second year on the grounds that some people wont bother to look around for a better deal. In this case Knott's would have had a hefty £400 in their back pocket from you. and Different brokers will get different rates from a particular underwriter depending on the amount of business they put with them, the type of vehicle (eg if a company specialises in Dubs) and the Claims Statistics. The large difference in price there is more likely due to the fact that flux are a huge broker and probably have a much better account through Highway than Chriss Knott so can get better rates. Under FSA rules if Chriss Knott were charging an extra £400 admin charge or similar then they would have to disclose that to you and therefore would probably not get many customers! Highway are also on our panel of underwriters and they are a very large company, you could probably ring round all day and get 20 different quotes from different brokers all through Highway! Thats just the way it works! :)
TomB 0 Posted October 11, 2006 Just like to recommend Footman James (0121 561 4196 / 0845 458 4356) for their great service. I know mine's only a group 9 rather than a group 15, but even so, Fully Comp with £150 excess including full breakdown cover, all mods declared for £225 is good... :-) 8)
Phil K 0 Posted January 9, 2007 Top marks for John and Kerry at Brentacre once again! My new Leon Cupra R is insured for a very healthy figure and they've stuck the mrs on the policy for no extra fee - handy when I need her to drive me home from the pub  They have insured my C for the last 3 years and I'm delighted to continue doing business with them 8)
VAG-hag 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Oh my god I cant believe it, never had a sub £500 quote before. Given by Greenlight £477.75 with a £275 XS. More wagon envy comin my way soon! Lots of love, big smiley Chris :-) *edit* Adey Flux have thrown in a £429.99 with £250 XS quote. Andy665 0 Posted March 17, 2007 Just got the renewal on the Bora from Brentacre, decided to shop around and after 5 minutes on cofused.com ended up getting it £120 cheaper, half the excess from the Post Office - all mods declared. Must admit to being impressed with confused.com, best screen scraper I've used
Jim 2 Posted March 18, 2007 Chuffed with my policy from HIC. Cheapest insurance i've ever had.. I guess age and a healthy NCD is starting to pay off but considering they managed to slash the quote I got from Churchill by over 50%, i'm thrilled to bits. Even get track day cover too chucked in.. though with the XS on track accidents being so high, its only really worth claiming if I totally feck the car!! Owen VR6 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Confused is the boy! I'm 24, and for my VR6 it found me a quote for £534 even though i've got three points, i was well impressed. the next quote up wasn't so pleasent though at £1200! They found Lancaster insurance to be the cheapest, that's also who i insured my 1275 mini clubman with, £280 fully comp.
scarlet_vr6 0 Posted April 25, 2007 I had to sort my insurance recently and the best 3 quotes I got were from HIC, A-Plan and Brentacre. My renewal was £695 and ended up paying £420 with Brentacre. As mentioned on here several times before, John is a nice guy, who is happy to have a chat about Cs as well as give a great quote! However, A-Plan in Basingstoke gave me a very reasonable quote as well, beating HIC. Make sure you ask for Andy and mention CF. He promised to do his best for us in return for a mention on here. Thought it might be worth a try... 01256 355641

A-J 0 Posted July 4, 2007 Having just spent the morning phoning loads of companies on the first page I finally got a comprehensive quote with protected no claims and mods declared for £350 with Brentacre :D Genuine guys who obviously know their stuff when it comes to VW's which makes a change from typical call centres who after taking down loads of details tell you 'we don't do modified'
