g0ldf1ng3r 13 Posted September 21, 2015 I don't really agree to be honest but we're both entitled to our points of view I guess :) I think you could easily take any of the jobs they do on the cars to restore them for the show, and treat them in isolation. The fact they do them all on one car is just so that they can make a TV show out of it. I'm sure you, like me, have spent substantially more than £200 on the parts or tools to do any number of jobs on your Corrado.. how much is a new, decent suspension kit for example, plus the tools to do the swap? For people doing restoration work even on something as humble as the Corrado, £200 is frankly nothing. Part of it also showing you what CAN be achieved at home with a bit of practice and a bit of determination. They say it regularly, but if from watching them do a DIY repair on the show you're inspired to go out and work on your own car, then they've done what they set out to achieve - try and get more people enthusiastic about working on cars rather than getting put off because they're too complex or it costs too much to work on them. They also deliberately try and show new & different types of repairs as much as possible (watch out for VAG-COM in the Corrado episode!) which is why sometimes it gets more and more elaborate or specialist as I guess there's only so many 'brake pad' level type repairs that can be shown before it gets a bit samey :) I think my previous post was written more with my business head on and was only really comparing what costs would be if a mechanic was charging to do the work & often thus making the task unfeasible having read the above Jim, I have to say, though I may be contradicting myself a little, that I agree with your main sentiment. the program does indeed show that many jobs can be tackled at home & also does inspire people to try, myself included as im damn sure I want to use that Wurth kit to repair the front spoiler & get the valver back to how it should be I also like the way the way that Ed explains what he does & why Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I've never understood people who abuse celebrities on Twitter, etc - it's a strange phenomenon really. And then especially when it goes onto be about his wife or daughter!! seanl82 23 Posted September 21, 2015 Remember that its been going for what, 13 years now? In the first few series', it really was basic maintenance and very easily done by a home DIY mechanic. The show has just evolved as it has become so popular so it has to broaden the work they have been doing using more elaborate ways of achieving things, with more specialist kit to do it. The show wouldn't be so highly rated still if they were still just doing basic servicing, with the occasional bolt off bolt on body panel and a rattle can of paint. The encouragement of a DIY mechanic were at the forefront for the concept of the show, its just shifted slightly now to being about showing a quality classic car, and be entertaining to boot. Dox 22 Posted September 21, 2015 With "Where there's blame there's a claim" culture, could you image what would happen should there be an issue with one of the cars in the next few years after selling one on? loepan 11 Posted September 21, 2015 yeah it has to be both, informative and entertaining, must admit i like it, its never going to be an in depth show of how to do x but it gives someone the general gist and then its up to them to research further....for me i can't wait to hear what they're opinions of the corrado are, not to fussed on the selling etc but it would be good if they both praised it up....a little...or a lot haha Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

There are a lot of sad people out there in this world. Our hobby is playing with cars Where as other people think making someone else's life a misery is a hobby. There's some really effed up people out there :( I think it's quite simple Jim, a lot of jealously, and people don't stop to think that celebrities might actually have worked hard to get where they are, I suppose the big-brother/national lottery view of things has a lot to do with it.
