ozowen 2 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) Well on Sunday 7th May I drove North to my birthplace in North Wales to assist my brother with a few car moves and to see his new acquisition. That night I spent on the couch at his house and on the Monday at 0400 we started, what according to Google was 9hrs and 483 miles of driving. (Link to brother thread on the golf forum lets you see the cars) that we moved: http://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=47320 Our first trek was to Waterwerks near Bath to visit Tom, who's the owner of said garage. He is a VAG specialist who has gone his own way (see link below) http://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=119&t=33643 After dropping the MK2 and Mk3 off we headed west to Swindon and a lunch stop at my house. There we loaded my beloved 303, as mentioned in this thread earlier she was always going to get a good refurb and now is the time. It has gone to North Wales to spend a few months with Chris, my sisters fella. A bloody good and reliable mechanic with a life time of experiences on all cars. A couple of pictures on its arrival. Fair play to the olde girl I made the error of leaving the handbrake on when she came off the road and thought I was going to be in for a nightmare trying to move her; but she's made of sterner stuff and started up on the first go and moved with some rubbing of the brake and discs, all under her own steam Edited August 9, 2017 by ozowen Re-adding photos after photobucket bomb

ozowen 2 Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) Sorting central locking issues (probably caused by the heater matrix failure) well that's all for now folks, suffice to say I'm very happy with the progress, I now have to find a few parts for her; namely 2 wings and the rear number plate lights metal surround (bad description) the bit that should be hear Edited May 24, 2017 by ozowen
odub 0 Posted May 24, 2017 I think I may have a light surround spare and stashed away. It will be the wrong colour if I have but let me know if you're interested.

I've put up another thread asking for the bits I need to restore him to his former glory but if you can find said bit and give me a price for posted and packaging to North Wales; it would be much appreciated

ozowen 2 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) Well 303's restoration continues and I'm able to see it occasionally when I'm dropping parts off or visiting the family. These are the latest, it should be off to body shop soon have to do a couple of shout outs. Chris (lilfuzzer) helped me acquire a few valuable needed parts for the car. I took a trip up to see him and grab the parts. And Matt (owns a Corrado but is not on the forum). The front wings needed attention and I wanted to keep as much of the car original as I could; rather than getting good replacements. This missing wings getting worked on: http://www.rotboxrustorations.com/corrado-wings.html Matt runs Rotbox Rustorations near Thirsk, having sent him the wings by courier once they were done I decided to collect rather than chancing the courier service......would have been gutting to receive at the garage damaged. So a 594 mile day ensued and 11hrs driving. Swindon - Thirsk - N Wales - Swindon. This is a link to his website : http://www.rotboxrustorations.com highly recommended. ozowen 2 Posted January 8, 2018 Happy New year all. Well lets start 2018 with a round up on the fleet, none have left but some are eating into my funds. Firstly the VRS has had over 2K spent on her recently after a gearbox fail. So she's now staying for the next few years. The TTS suffered an attack by a flying object on a return trip from seeing the family and the resulting stone has cracked the windscreen at the top. As for the Corrado's Meld has been given regular outing around the local area over the winter; mainly for fun and to blow away the cobwebs, but she is still managing to stay below those magical 6 digits on the odometer. As for 303 well:
ozowen 2 Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) The restoration on 303 is nearing the end, new paint has been applied over the festive period and my isn't she looking sweet: Edited January 10, 2018 by ozowen

ozowen 2 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) Looks really good! i'm incredibly jealous of your new paint, it looks amazing Thank you both. I reckon the Corrado's have enough money in them now to make this feasible. Dox Thanks for enlarging the pictures, didn't think about doing that Edited January 9, 2018 by ozowen
dazzx10r 10 Posted January 9, 2018 That's going to look fantastic mate. Best colour too, but then I am biased. :thumbleft:
dr_mat 0 Posted January 9, 2018 I keep thinking I should splash out on a respray, then I think I should get the engine and gearbox rebuilt, then I think I should strip all the trim out and repair, replace and fettle. Then I remembered i ain't ploughing £10k into a car that has to live on the street... ! Lol A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
ozowen 2 Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) That's going to look fantastic mate. Best colour too, but then I am biased. :thumbleft: Always liked the blackberry colour on the Corrado; that much all 3 of my Corrado's have been that colour and to now have one that is bag on......I just hope nothing happens to it. I know what you are saying, unfortunately I am also in the same boat, although I do have a garage its down the side of a 1930's house, so unless it is a Ford Popular or Anglia, that sort of elch, then I have no way of getting a modern car down the side. I also agree on the cost, but This car will be with me for life so it's seems okay to make it right. It isn't going to be a concours car, it's for enjoyment and hopefully the occasional admiring glance off other drivers Edited January 9, 2018 by ozowen

ozowen 2 Posted May 22, 2018 Well folks on Friday I drove up to North Wales for a car swap around, Meld has been left up North for a bit of work and the long awaited return of 303 happened. She attended her first show 'All Types' at Bodelwyddan and then drove effortless back down to Swindon. I have to take photo's for the agreed valuation for Lancaster Insurance today so I'll also post them here afterwards.....stay tuned

ozowen 2 Posted May 24, 2018 where did your 4x4 turbo go? Is it owned by anyone on the forum? I believe the new owner is on the VR6 owners club forum, I've had no contact with him, and I haven't seen it at any of the shows either.
