G60MAT 0 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) So after a decade since selling my last Corrado a Satin Silver VR6, yesterday was a long day, the culmination of 11 weeks conversations with me heading to Chelmsford from Cheshire to pick up another VW Finally managed to do the deal on one of the very last VW Corrado VR6 in Flash Red with Black Heated Leather interior. Registered in 1996, incredibly it’s only covered 93k miles and is completely standard except for the optional dealer fit “Brands Hatch” 15” polished alloy wheels. (For Sale soon). Sadly the retired owner passed last year after 16 years of ownership and very little use - Incredibly it’s only done 1,692 miles since 2009 and just 226 miles in the last year, well until I drove it 228 miles home to Cheshire! It didn’t miss a beat! Many thanks to Rob and his family for selling me the car. Now to decide what to do with it… Golf R Mk7.5 Estate | '96 Corrado VR6 | '77 Scirocco Mk1 G60 | '75 Scirocco Mk1 USA Barn Find Trimsport Owner | Trimsport IG | Trimsport FB | Trimsport Store Porsche Wheel Trader | WANTED: Eta Beta 17" Split Rims Edited January 20, 2023 by G60MAT
_Matt_ 32 Posted January 20, 2023 Good to see it went to an enthusiasts home. I have seen it in the classifieds for sometime and if I was buying a corrado it was the one I would have bought out of the current selection. I think first jobs is to put that Karmann sticker back in the right place 😄

Thanks, yes strange to be back! 😆 Yeah really pleased with it, better than I expected, needs a full service soon, then should run really sweet! Yes still own Trimsport (10 years this year) No plans to do the carbon again, it was a nightmare last time and think we barely broke even. Best bet is James at SpoonFedTuning in the USA, I was out with him in California last year, so can help if needed. ger040 3 Posted January 20, 2023 looks a great car Never seen or was aware of those wheels
Cressa 44 Posted January 20, 2023 Great looking motor, great purchase. Maybe start with some brighter headlight bulbs and an uprated loom. My best invested purchase for the Corrado has been clear headlight protectors and fog light protectors. I dont fancy having to sell my liver or kidneys to replace them due to a stone chip... 🤣

There were some for sale on FB for only 150 for a couple of months. I couldn't believe they struggled to sell. Had I have been nearer I would have snapped them up. But who needs 4 sets of wheels!!! 🤣

James. 9 Posted January 20, 2023 3 hours ago, Dox said: They were standard on the UK VR6 campaign models? Close. The campaign has “Monte Carlo” as standard. “Brands hatch” were standard spec in Canada but an option elsewhere. I’d keep them. Adds OE appeal. Nice looking car. Always happy to see another heading north 🙂.
_Matt_ 32 Posted January 21, 2023 I quite like the wheels. I have some old brochures here and they were an OE option and diamond cut. What are you plans for the car Mat? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

I'll likely change the wheels and maybe suspension, but otherwise keep it pretty standard, drive it and enjoy it, then see if I'm keeping it longer term... Oh and a new stereo - thinking Blaupunkt SQR 46 as the current one is terrible! 😆But all in keep it nineties OEM style. 😎 Golf R Mk7.5 Estate | '96 Corrado VR6 | '77 Scirocco Mk1 G60 | '75 Scirocco Mk1 USA Barn Find Trimsport Owner | Trimsport IG | Trimsport FB | Trimsport Store Porsche Wheel Trader | WANTED: Eta Beta 17" Split Rims

fla 9 Posted March 5, 2023 some great work there to bring it up to scratch. Nice that the corrado text is still intact on your mats
oneohtwo 8 Posted March 16, 2023 Nice! I quite like those alloys, and if they were a dealer fit item then you could keep them and maintain both an OE and individual look! Certainly look better than the 15" Speedlines otherwise. On the other hand I quite understand moving up to 16" wheels. The BBS 15s on the earlier models seem to look fine, but the 15s on the later models just look undersized.
