scooby turbo vs VR6

has anyone drove both and if so how do they compare ? what has the vr got over the scooby apart from the obvious looks :D and the fact that the scooby is ten a penny

TBH, you don't stand a chance as soon as the Scooby is on boost it will leave you for dead both in a straight line and round corners. Unless the driver is a muppet.

better fuel economy, still bl$$dy quick!!! rare, character, sounds amazing. Mind you so does the scooby! Damn! The spoiler is one of the coolest thing about the corrado.

 

Oh, in about 10 years the corrado will be still worth money, whereas the scooby will be dead or cheap as chips. There is sooooo many scoobys about now its just not funny. It getting as bad as boy racer corsas.

 

I like to be different hence the VR6 and G60 8)

Well i've always been rather partial to the Scooby - there is no denying that they are seriously rapid and well handling cars. The looks might not always be to everyones taste, but done right I think they look fantastic.. and even certain editions look perfect from the factory (Impreza P1, Terzo III, etc).

 

I may own a Corrado but i'm still interested in other cars regardless of the image or reputation they may have :)

yeah you've got a point jim certain models the p1 or colin mcrae look good but the import (usually silver) dont do it for me, the same for the evo ,tremendous car but it looks like a family saloon thats ram raided halfords :D

Bought Autotrader last week, there were at leat 50 Scooby WRX's (never mind the 'normal' ones) and only 2 corrados. It kinds of says it all really. Where I live there are 2 scoobys almost identical, both have bought dump valves. Every time they pass my house they push the revs and change gear as they pass the house, just to make the hissing niose. That says a lot really, they have a bit of an inferiority complex about them.

It was a good noise, til they were fitted to every crapped up Corsa, Saxo and Escort in existence. Now they just sound stupid.

 

Admittedly if it's on a Scooby you know that it's probably doing something useful, but still.

 

Personally I quite like the original grey import Scoobs that came over and the P1 as they are the ones that started it all off. There's no way I'd get a 'new' shape one though.

 

Obviously the Scooby is quicker, but I'd rather have the C.

My mate has a 2000 WRX and it can't shake my VR on the bends or the straights. If you don't believe me, drive one and see how much it understeers! The VR will also keep going long after the scoob runs out of petrol.

 

Scoobs are a good bit of fun but they lack the charm and character of the VR.

 

Dump valves are the biggest waste of time ever on a scoob. Subaru designed a perfectly competent boost return system and the first thing boy racers do is junk that, fit a forge motorsport DV and lose 15hp.

Yeah just like the old Volvo F10 tractor units.every time they braked. The noise isn't something new. Dumping boost is like the LED washer jets..totally useless.

Well all I can say is ultimately the Subaru is faster but it just to easy to drive it quickly. Sort of takes all the fun out driving. Its a bit too clinical. Also, as said, the Subaru is also a bit more boy racerish.

ULTIMATELY the VR6 is faster..... it has a higher top speed :-P

 

I have beat not one but TWO Scoobies... and anything over 80 - 90mph and the VR lump pulls away...... :wink:

I had my first play with a scooby last weekend. The guy obviously knew his car had comedy 0-60 time cos he dropped right back back behind me- then when I went to overtake a car in front of me, he nailed it and went from being about 50 metres behind me to right up my ar*e in just no time at all :shock: I just shifted the VR up into trusty 3rd gear and took about 20 metres back out of him between 50 & 90mph :) . The VR's have still got tremendous pace for a ten year old car!

Hee hee. I had someone right up my arse as I was pootling along taking the C to the bodyshop this morning... we went round (yes Kev, ROUND) a roundabout and funnily he disappeared behind me as we accelerated away... :D

 

Edit: having said that I do live in Essex, so it's highly likely it was just a bodykitted standard Scoob :roll:

In the wet yes, in the dry, no. They're not *easy* to keep with, but you can keep with them providing you have a good suspension setup on the C. And as I said before, Scoobs understeer badly when pushed (especially on standard suspension) which will prove unnerving to inexperienced Scoob drivers. Kit the scoob out with a bigger rear ARB and some koni dampers and the tables are turned - quite considerably.

Scoobies - VERY quick, but any numpty can drive one of them to 90% of the cars limit. The car flatters the driver a lot.

Great flat four warble, that any fitted BOVs mess with.

 

As for Vs a VR6. Well can't say, but a Scooby I was chasing in my old tweeked G60 got his tail out when doing a sharp S bend in cold conditions. Over eager to blow me into the weeds I guess. 185bhp and 199lbft and I couldn't keep up. I did manage 40miles in ~40mins that night, along minor twisty A roads. I was buzzing for a good hour after that. Scooby driver would have fallen asleep doing the same, unless he'd managed to get upto warp speed for the corners.

and that certainly took more than numptiness to control. It was stupidly fast but took a lot of concentration through the twisties. A standard Imp doesn't take much to master but few people will be bold enough to boot it when it understeers to get the rear diff working.

its in french so jump to 1.24 for the race. its a 260 bhp turbo corrado against a 300 bhp turbo scooby

well i had my scoob .hmmm 8 years ago.. i paid £20.000 big large ones for it it was an import 21,000 miles on the clock lol now here is the best bit...

 

 

subaru imprza sti version 3 (face lift model late 97) type ra vltd no 62/555 colin mcrae signature car

 

it had 325bhp as standard and it was extremly quick handled just soo unbelivably well doom blue in colour roof hatch etc all the good bits...£10 of fuel 35miles... :shock:

 

sold it and got an m3 that straight 6 noise is still ringing in my ears!!!!

 

anyway i agree scoobs = chavs..too many around dont interest me at all now very expensive to run...

 

i think of them as boy racer cars but then when you see a chick driving one ( and they are usually good looking) you see the car in a totally different light!!
