  1. Mine went up from about 9 ish volts, I noticed a night and day difference in light output. I just made mine up myself with a couple of relays, some new wire and Halfords 30% brighter bulbs. Did you measure your voltages with the bulbs in circuit?

  2. There are allignment marks on the mechanism. Its all detailed in the bentley manual if you have access to one. You have to get the mech in the correct place and set the motor in the right position without being installed, then install the motor. Using the marks also mean that the left and right sliding parts are EXACTLY in the right place and not fighting against each other, which is the cause of many people's nightmare fiting stories.

  3. I'm not disputing the fact that the 200sx is well known for being tail happy, that is a weakness of that particular car. Also the Corrado is obviously near the top end of fwd cars for general handling abilities and cornering. However, not wishing to start an argument  , fwd was developed to maximise passenger space and to provide 'safe' handling characteristics (ie understeer). Imo most of the best handling cars are rwd.

  4. the 200 SX is rear wheel drive so can't deal with the twisties as well as a C.

I'm not being funny here, (Honestly :D ) but since when did front wheel drive have the edge over rear wheel drive through the corners? Virtually every 'proper' sports car on the planet has rear wheel drive because its better from that point of view surely...

  5. I've got exactly the same issue as this, I can waggle the steering left and right at quite serious speeds or even when going round a corner and not a lot happens, Its only compensated for by the fact that the rest of the experience is good, the car stays pretty flat and grips really well, its just feel that is absent and that initial turn in you seem to get on newer cars.

The strange thing is that my 18 year old Mk2 GTi is so twitchy (in a good way) about the straight ahead position, if you waggle the wheel in that the whole car pitches aggresively from side to side, nothing like the Corrado.

  6. Hi can anyone tell me the difference between the mounting brackets for a big bumper and a small bumper Mk2 Golf. By the brackets I really mean the plate that spans the front of the car that the bumper attaches to. I recently ordered a plate for a big bumper which attached to the bumper through square holes with plastic clips to hold the bumper on. However the plate I was sent is the same shape but has no square holes just a series of holes drilled along its length, is that for a small bumper? Any clues appreciated!

  7. btw what difference will ti do to the cars running, will it make it run rough? like it is doing..

*edit* can i put a breather filter on there instead? or is this part quite important?

It will probably make the car run a bit rough, your basically sucking in unrestricted air after the Airflow sensor i.e. un-metered air, thus the engine is getting more air than it thinks it is. You can put a breather on but they're not renowned for being much cop. Better off with the right part tbh.

  8. First results I would say are as to be expected, its a high mileage car, a bit of variation in the readings but if she's running ok, as I'm sure it would with those figures, no problem there.

2nd results are ok, but no 1 cylinder is obviously starting to show its age, it could be many things but you'd need further diagnosis to work out what. The fact that no 6 is still so good says to me that it probably isn't bore wear as in my experience 1 and 6 tend to wear at a similar rate. Overall though thats a good set of figs so its a shame no 1 is so low, could be early Head Gasket issues or valve trouble.

3rd results are anyones guess, all the figs are lower than desirable, with some that are very low, theres obviously an issue on that one especially given the low mileage.

I take it the engine was hot for these tests?

  9. I do 70-80 miles every day mon-fri, and anything from 0 to 200 miles on a weekend. I've put 45k miles on it in three years! I also have a mk2 gti, which I alternate between the rado and that about once a month.
