  1. Deffo get a new one, not expensive - old ones become dry etc and you can't really re-oil them as they are sleeeved
  2. Yeah that must be wrong as the book time is 1.75 hours including filling the cooling system so should only be half that at £75 (what my dealer charge) an hour + the pump
  3. Oh - also check the earth from the starter - maybe corroded...
  4. So your getting 12V down that starter line to the solenoid? Try whacking the solenoid with a bar while someone turns the key...
  5. Hmmm - it does sound bent then as i've never had a problem, i tilt the seat and carry it into place, I lift the slide lever and guide the middle bit down as I push the seat back... It could be the clip is just worn... try new ones first, couple of quid from VW, always used to be in stock but you may have to order now...
  6. They aint but it could be bent... Roger - the clips should stay there regardless, did you put new ones on?? if not get 4 new ones (they are sided to the seat ie inner / outer) and clean and re-grease - I've done this to every Golf and Corrado I've had and it makes the seats slide back and forth like brand new plus gives more positive feel duing cornering!
  7. No noise at all from the dash or engine bay?? No clicks? You need to locate the thick red and black wire that goes from the ignition switch to the starter motor solenoid plug, check it's clean and connected ok and see if you get 12V down it when the ignition switch is turned... If you don't get 12V and you've changed the switch then it's likely to be an alarm type issue Also check all fuses and re-seat relays

    ECU query

If you also stick a VR engine in it... :D
  9. Sounds fooked but could be a knackered hose as Roger says...
  10. Oh and I wouldn't leave it either - VW engines run hot enough WITH a water pump!
  11. Yeah you need to change the whole pump - it's about £20 exchange from VW and you should be able to do in situ with a bit of careful jacking... Might as well get a new belt at the same time and you need an M8x80 bolt to undo it...
  12. Yeah - had this on a mk3 even supporting the engine and it moved overnight... (this is why VW state you need to support from above using a beam across the wings) As David says loosen the front mount then get someone to put a long bar into the bracket and lever it into place, the bolt should have a 'pointy' end so you should feel it as it gets close and try and start the thread...
  13. Yep, push not turn... Before I had the proper tool I used a G clamp and one of the old pads... turn 1/4 of a turn at a time with the cap off the res... if the brake fluid is near the minimum you shouldn't need to remove any but you will if it's higher... use a pipett or syringe or clean bit of cloth (lint free)
  14. 3 jiffy bags!! If you look in the dungeon you'll see a thread where I sent a pair to the states, triple boxed with bubble wrap between each and fragile written on every side and they still arrived smashed to bits... Should have bought that pair I offered you Janice!
  15. Yep - take it to 2 or 3 bodyshops for quotes as well as they will know where to look to see if there is any other damage...
  16. £500 (bumper plus brackets / bolts) + materials £50 + labour... Check the boot floor and the rear panel for any signs of damage (cracked underseal / paint)
  17. It's 2 drives side arms you need not blades and there kit has 2 different arms... it will work but it's not ideal... The G60 oil filter they list is also incorrect
  18. ?? I thought yours was Aqua Blue going from your first thread... I have no idea what Yan is on about but Blue Pearl Effect if a different colour entirely! Aqua Blue is LC5U
  19. Mate - scrap metal is worth loads at the moment, 4 wheels = £40 ish if you need to get some cash back, then try and get the rest out of the seller!
  20. Ah man... bad luck mate, yeah deffo looks like it needs a new wing and lanp unit... Roger - didn't you post something about a Skoda a few days ago? thought it was the same thread until i actually looked at it...
  21. :D I suppose it does get to around 170 degrees C whenever you take it out...
  22. I would have thought so... yeah cyl heads come with the studs, caps and nuts already there but i'm sure someone will have a spare...
  23. He's done 20k of that in the last 2 years - it was on 17k when he bought it!
  24. Hi - do you mean the hole in the throttle body? (the one at the bottom) If so it will not suck air as the butterfly is closed at full throttle and it just lets excess boost out... Or if you mean the charger / G-lader then try this... http://www.bahnbrenner.com/vw_audi/G_La ... Plate.html
