  1. I think we've located the problem then...
  2. I think I'd still go for a Halfords Calcium tho - my mate works there and says they don't get many back (even under the 4 year warranty) and they shift so many that the shelf life is always low...
  3. Hi guys, I emailed In-Pro about this earlier as I was interested to know before I make a purchase and just got re-directed to there UK parter (helpful!) with no answer to my question... I phoned the number below and the chap said you can't get the lenses and he has asked In-Pro a few times about this, he did however say he could sell me a single unit at £135+vat!!!!! Having looked at the construction of the lights and the fact that the lenses are as easy to replace as the OEM units I think this is really cr&p of In-Pro not to supply these and therefore I won't be investing in pair if I cannot get the parts for them... Here are the details anyway.... Eurostyling International Unit 1 Silverstone Tech. 4. Yeah - agree with the above, It's just a standard 8v engine in this case and the labour time shouldn't be more than 5 hours... Have you tried Awesome maybe??
  5. Brake cleaner is usually alot cheaper than carb cleaner but it is fairly similar I think...
  6. Yeah - try the standard chip first - I've never heard of a Blitz chip??
  7. Stick another belt on, turn it by hand then start up and see what compression you get - could be lucky...
  8. All C's got the heated jets I think but most will not work now if still original... check by testing with a metre - you will see the wiring under the bonnet... The mirrors work when the rear demister is on, if left on tho they corrode and cause the mirror surface to peel round the edges...
  9. Yeah - change the sender first, must be that i'm sure...
  10. You don't need longer bolts in terms of the wheel size being bigger but you may depending on the wheel... Compare the standard bolt length that comes out with the same bolt on the alloy (measure of count threads) also be aware there may be a difference in the way the bolt sits on the wheels (maybe why they supply new bolts)
  11. Get it from VW dude - same price and you get a nice shiny new one...
  12. Jesus! - where did those pistons come from and what are they from?? Where they damaged when the cam seized?
  13. No worries - ALWAYS change the tensioner too and maybe worth doing the chain that drives the other cam if mileage is high (above 150k's)...
  14. I'd say about 3/4 hours labour roughly having seen Kev's car being done (tappets and 268's) - there is a fair amount of stuff to come off...
  15. a very thin (viscous fan) 32mm spanner with the rack alligned so you can access between the wishbone and subframe...
  16. VW quote 80k (but inpect every 10) The 16v belt is under a bit more strain than other engines tho so 60k is a safer interval imo...
  17. Could hammer a spline in... also worth changing the axle bushes if your going to change the compensator along with those 2 small hoses
  18. They will be less than a quid from the dealer - you get them with the bearing kits also..

You checked all the engine earths? Also check the dizzy seal and the state of the hall sender...
  20. You really need both parts of the late cowling - very cheap from VW
  21. Have you checked the spot welds on the cat heatsheild? Transmission mount is oil filled (hydraulic) so look for signs of a leak - a good upgrade is the solid rubber one from a mk2 Golf Diesel
  22. White one on Fairtrade program on BBC2 just now!
