  1. Badges mean nothing, IMHO. Your VIN is not far off my Storm's VIN of 3013. The best proof of all would be the sticker in the boot (or Service Schedule) bearing the magic paint code LC5L (AKA Mystic Blue)
  2. Stainless is better - can't rust at all! :)
  3. I think it's just the plating they use on the connectors - the actual hose material is the same.
  4. As dr_mat says, don't do brake lines unless you really know what you're doing. The ones available from ECP are cr*p as they're alloy and will kink as soon as you start trying to fit them. Copper is the way to go, but get it done by a professional. Goodridge hoses are £53.95 inc VAT from http://www.candrenterprises.co.uk - they're the zinc ones, but unless you are building a show car, who's going to see them anyway? FWIW, I've had set on my Golf for 7 years & they still look like new...
  5. I've had both on my Golf VR6 smoker & the Supersprint was, frankly, awful. It was always banging on something underneath & after 4 years / 55K miles it rotted out round the exit of box 2. By contrast, the 2 years with the Miltek has been a joy. A much better fit and a more refined noise which doesn't get stupidly loud after a long blast down the motorway. Just saving up the pennies to do the Storm now 8)
  6. You sure it's not just the heat shield m8? They can make an awful row.
  7. Mmm, I suspect the 'rado guage is a bit flakey, but the water temp does seem generally higher than the Golf in that the thermo fan comes on far more often & earlier.
  8. Yup, bought one the other week. I've already got a Morpheous (£400) in my Golf, so I was interested to see how they compared. So far, I have to say that the Inforad looks like a bargain & it sure does work. Likes: Made by Toad & was sold in Europe before the UK - has the European cameras in the database, so handy if going abroad. Small - really unobtrusive sitting up by the pillar External arial feed if required Easy updates (free for 1st year) via PC/intrnet - it's a USB device Can set your own warning points - good for mobile camera points etc. Can act as GPS feed for a PDA Dislikes: Less advance warning than Morpheous No indication of distance to camera Audible bleeps not loud enough Awkward power feed from fag lighter socket - I need to look at more permanent way of wiring in. ATM, it's far too easy to accidently disconnect power when going anywhere near 3rd or 5th :( Overall - buy one if you can't justify one of the cleverer ones, it's still way better than nothing!
  9. My 150K mile Golf VR6 runs about 104 at 80mph & 112 at 100, but my 80K mile Storm seems to run 6 degrees warmer at each speed. Also noticed the Golf never budges from 90 degree water temp under any cicumstances, but the 'rado is all over the place. About to change thermostat to see if it makes it any more stable.
  10. I'm voting with my money - I've donated to help fund this site rather than what would appear to be a club in terminal decline.
  11. Yet another thumbs-up for Gavin (H100VW) for my wiring loom. Very prompt delivery and easy to fit once I got round to it! A must-have upgrade to any C
  12. According to my local stealer, the 405/6 parts are superceded by 6X2955410C and they're a) on back order by MK from Germany & b) £30.45 + VAT each  Still, on the plus side, GSF have supplied a pair of Bosch Aero blades for a reasonable £19.95 They look really cool - pity I can't fit them without the arms!
  13. Many thanks for all the replies guys. The consensus seems to be VAG rear & poly front, so that's what'll be going on. Cheers
  14. Yes, good point, hadn't considered that. On the basis that the rears are gone, I'm thinking of doing the front ones at the same time. VAG again or poly?
  15. Bit of a noob on here, but can't seem to find the answer with search. Just for background, I just bought a Mystic Blue Storm last month with 79,000 FVAGSH documented miles. I already have 2 Golf MK3's (a 16V & a VR6) for everyday motoring, so the intention is to keep the Storm standard(ish) and do maybe 5,000 miles/year in it. I tend to keep my cars for years & don't mind spending money on them when required. :) My current dillema is that the rear axle bushes are shot, so what do you guys reckon on poly bushes vs. standard VW rubber? If poly, any make in particular?
