  1. They'll get you your excess back for 'free ' from the other party's insurers, assuming you were not at fault. They'll probably also be keen to try for personal injury compensation too - did you suffer any injury due to the accident?
  2. I've got one of these http://www.thecovercompany.co.uk/noah_car_covers.html tailored for the C and the quality is superb! Comes from the US. May be a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.
  3. Unless you're a cop, royalty, an aristo, government minister, judge, mason etc. :pirate: "Some animals are more equal than others" George Orwell, Animal Farm
  4. Carparks are dangerous places! Nearly 30 yearss ago, I was sitting in my car in the middle of an (almost) empty supermarket carpark at some ungodly early hour of the morning. The only other vehicle was an enormous dumper truck, parked at 90 degrees to me about 20 feet away. The driver wanders past me & over to the truck. The truck starts up & driver throws it in reverse straight back into me! My car was pushed 10 feet sideways & my life flashed before my eyes as the moster started to roll over me. The driver must have felt some resistance so he stops & gets out. He then utters the classic line: "Oh, I never saw you there!" The car was totalled & all at
  5. http://www.motester.co.uk/retest.html should help.
  6. This http://pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php is a fantastic site for he very broad range of devices they support. The database appears to be quite accurate from my observations. Best of all, it's free :)
  7. FWIW, I have always had this same problem on my Golf VR6 (but not on the Storm) & kicking it over for a second then turning it off & trying again always gets it started instantly. The problem only happens for 15 to 60 minutes after stopping.
  8. It'll just be mouldy old leaves. Remove the cover & make sure you get it all out - a vacuum cleaner is good if the missus doesn't spot you doing it :)
  9. Yep, it was in "The Golf" a few years back. It also started me on my quest for a Corrado :)
  10. Very clean yellow G-reg valver on the M40 between J5 & J4 about 19:30 this evening. Exchanged nods - anyone here?
  11. Scan4 has the look of an oil pump about it.
  12. Scan2 is the first one Chris! :) I agree that it is a bit difficult with such a small image though.
  13. Scan2 looks like it could be the MAF sensor
  14. Sorry MR.OTS, but I have a standard late black VR6 grille here which only has the bottom slat open, so that's not a Storm-specific feature.
  15. I suspect you've put your finger on the problem - it took your fitter 4 hours (and mine 3 hours) to do a perfect job. Autoglass & the like want to spend an hour at most and so bodge & cut corners with the result that you wind up with a cr*p job. I just won't use them anymore after 2 major c*ckups on previous cars; I now use a trusted independant who actually takes pride in his work :) Do they get paid by the job one wonders?

  17. Met Robbie Coltrane outside Terminal 3 at Heathrow a few years back - he'd just got in from the USA & had 2 fags on the go! Nice bloke, but seemed quite surprised to have been recognised!
  18. I've been told those stories too. Funny how VW sell 'em for £240 though, init?
  19. My Mum bought a new MK3 Golf from them in '93 which has only done 20K, even today. 5 years ago she took it to Motorworld for an MOT & they tried to persuade her it needed £600 spending to get it through the MOT. Luckily, she didn't fall for it & I got it MOT'd no problem somewhere else. It's never needed any of the stuff they claimed! Motorworld also lost a loyal customer as she flatly refuses to go there for anything now.
  20. I can just see the job advert now: "Company Sec with no driving license required" 8)
  21. That was me! I spotted you one car back taking a peek every so often. :)
  22. I've had a GSF rad in my Golf VR6 for the last 3 years & it's been fine. ISTR the stealers wanted £170 + VAT; GSF was £82 + VAT
  23. Just an idea, but it's worth checking that there isn't any play in the cable at the gearbox end which moves the big weighted arm forward & back. It's difficult to describe, but if you get a mate to move the gearlever from 1st to 2nd and back again while you're looking at the top of the 'box you'll see what I mean. There's a bolt which goes though the cable end to the arm & that is where I found lots of play. Appropriate washers sorted it completely & it makes the whole gearchange much more positive.
  24. I'd guess it's the wrong way round. If it's knackered, you get 3 dashes ---
