AAArrrrgggghhh - Anyone help?? Headlights stopped working!!
Andy665 replied to Blue_Joe's topic in Engine Bay
Have you checked the relays and the dashboard switch - my lights started playing up, sometimes they'd work, other times they wouldn't, changed both relays and they are now fine -
Dinkus is right, turn the gaiter inside out and you see a plastic circlip, just unclip it and they will seperate
-
Couldn't believe I got it so cheaply, was prepared to go up a fair bit more - would have liked G6 OSC from Ant but £1000 was way out of my range
-
TuningWerkes in Croydon sell them as do Stealth I believe - they are switchable between LHD and RHD, five minute job per light to switch over

Saw the car at the meet yesterday, one of the nicest and most subtle Passats I have ever seen -
Thinking more like Nice Nugget Volkswagen
-
...reg plate G60 NNV - the NNV doesn't mean anything but for £140 I can't really complain
-
Fitted Hella Raintronic and rear window spoiler, polished exhaust, waxed wheels, Swissoled whole car, cleaned leather, re-fitted eyebrow spoiler
-
Replaces the normal intermittent wipe with an automatic sensor on the windscreen
-
Fitted this morning - all of 15 mins - its the little refinements like this that make a car so much easier to live with on a day to day basis

Anyone have any experience with Caterhams or suchlike ???
Andy665 replied to RadoAds's topic in General Car Chat
I ran a Westfield but went down the purist route - found an early IRS model with a Lotus Twin Cam, twin 45's and the Rocket four speed box. Dyno'ed at 155 bhp, regular flames out of the exhaust. Maroon with biscuit leather and chrome ringed Smiths dials. It was 9 years old and only done 4,500 miles since it was built. I had it for twelve months and sold it for exactly what I paid for it (£7000). Fantastic to learn real car control skills, you corner with the throttle rather than the steering. The problem with newer Caterhams and Zetec powered Westfields is that you will still hit depreciation. Older Caterhams and Westfields are just as quick in real world conditions and are virtually depreciation proof. If you want something really different don't rule out a Grinnall Scorpion, lower road tax and stupidly cheap insurance, sequential box, 40mpg and unbelievable driving experience - really regret selling mine but hatching a plan to get another one -
Some Halfords stores sell it - £11.99 last time I looked

I would always advise looking at a car with a "claimed" FSH to ring the manufacturer and they will pull up the records - its too damned easy for boxes to be ticked by unscrupulous owners - at least checking direct with the manufacturer gives some added peace of mind -
Tell me where I can find a W8 for that money and I'll buy it, not seen one for less than 14.5k but even that is seriously good value
-
I thought all four wheel drive Passats were equipped with the 4MOTION
-
Saw one of these today - one of only 55 made

Where was the Service History with??? Hares in Rusington have one of the 246 UK Passat W8's for sale for less than 15k, bargain when you think it was over 37k new -
another g60 whats it worth......sorry
Andy665 replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in General Car Chat
Does this make me feel that G60 values are slightly on the UP -
Should just unscrew, there is a circlip that seperates the gaiter from the knob itself IIRC

What's the best looking/most ugly car ever made?
Andy665 replied to StormVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Oops, didn't see that bit: Best looking - Lancia Fulvia HF - delicate without being feminine, last of the true Lancias Worst Looking - BMW X3 - marketing over engineering integrity, total lack of cohesion -

Great quote from a local VW dealer - "Why don't you buy a proper car and stop running around in that old thing"
-
MG Rover had a 45 Tourer built (same shell as old Civic Aerodeck) that was totally unique, looked pretty smart in black and ended up being used as a Longbridge runaround. Also unique was the TVR Tasmin 280i Turbo coupe - last saw that a few years back now
-
Even as a regular VR6 its got the spec and would still have to be a good buy
