  7. I thank you sometimes it's PC gone mad  3 large is a lot of money - I'd investigate EVERY possibility before lashing out that kind of cash. Hell - I just picked up my C for that much!
  8. nah - that's not what i'm saying - it's keepin the beastie looking stock I like. It's all about street sleeper - IMHO. eyebrows and bolt on plastic don't do it for me - bolt on hardware, now that's a different kettle of mackeral. :porc:
  9. horses 4 courses I don't mind the speedlines meself - better stock than a "laughing" stock
  10. spinning by your test driver means the suspension set up is suspect. It also means you are trying to hard. Spinning on the public roads is trouser filling - as my friend almost discovered when I took him for a spin in an old E30 Beemer I once owned - luckily I didn't lose my bottle on the throttle and managed a 540 - facing the way we had entered a tighter bend than I had expected. LOL
  11. point of interest. On a press day launch of the mk1 Clio 6 - the Renault test driver managed to spin it twice. And I think all journalists spun it. Not a good start was it? The mk2 addressed this by stretching the wheelbase and increasing the track. But it was always a shite concept - and the Clio 182 would beat it thru the bends. so I read .. . . .
  12. just passing on "hearsay" - maybe that's a bad thing. so sorry But I believe people should be recomended the best available to them. It is a nightmare when you get "burned". No smoke without fire IMHO
  13. For 3.5k I know you can get a 1.8t supplied and fitted. you just got to shop around - and know the right people
  14. I've personally been warned against TSR
  15. I need to read more carefully Mk1 project - ahhhhhhh *NURSE!
  16. If you want a good cheap 4 branch manifold - try Grant Motor Sport in Bristol. He sorted me out with one for under 180 quid - he (at the time i was buying) had three different types available. I had PAS - and experienced no fouling - I had no probs with "cracking" - what I did have was an improved torque range. HTH http://www.grantmotorsport.com/
  17. hmmmmmmm bigger throttle body :afro:
  18. i was seriously tempted to go and see this car two weeks ago - geezer said he'd take anything over 2k for it. Shame it's so far from me - plus the lack of alarm means a further 399 to lash out to install a new one. Let us know if you buy it . . . .
  19. as everyone else has said - that would be at the wheels: 190 is at the flywheel - expect 15-20% loss thru the drivetrain hth
  20. Interesting thread I had a bit of work done on my old Valve Golf mk2: ie: std 1.8 KR block std air box std zaust GMotorsport ported and flowed head, 270/268 cams (mild) 4 branch s/s manifold - with the fuelling set up correctly - valves have a tendancy to be set up lean. I was just getting 175 bhp @ 6200 and 150 ft/lb from 1.5k - plateau-ing and not tapering off until 5.7k And - I haven't seen this guy's plot graph - but this guy must either be on a wind up or on crack - and timing his results on a calendar. If his plots are true - I'm selling my VR next week! hth
  21. Even my Nissan Micra would lose it through some "twisties" though. 10 sec quarters non withstanding! plus where do you put your shopping?
