  7. Will a Mk2 Goof GTI 16v back box fit a late 16v Rado as the look very similar?
  8. Thats a chuffing good point! Good thinking batman! Will get my multimeter out tonight and get testing!
  9.   In havent tested the loom yet as im stuck in work, what part of the loom do you suggest I test? If I remember correctly I have not touched any of the wiring that feeds the sidelights, so in theory just disconnecting the dim dip resistor should do the job (as it did on my previous rado!). Is it likely the BOTH bulbs have blown simultaneously just after I finished making the loom coz Im all out of ideas?!?
  10. Bah thats a shitter mate!! Hope she gets well soon!!
  11. Good luck fella, thats a trek and a half!! Whats wrong the cab mate?
  12. Take the power feed from the output side of the dim dip resistor? Is that what you mean?
  13. With the dim dip coil disconnected and the switch in the middle position there are no lights whatsoever. With the dim dip coil connected and the switch in the middle position the dip beam is on. Any ideas?
  14. Thats a bloody good point, Im sure they will realise that the the cameras do more harm than good when we all start going up the @rse of each other! Fecking Big Brother is even watching over us now!!
  15. Walesy, ^^ As tim said, a particularly nice stretch to 'give it fook!' aswell! Not that I condone speeding, Officer.
  16. A new type of speed camera is being used in Cornwall to make motorists pay heed to reduced speed limits through a major road resurfacing project. The Highways Agency will start work on the £2.75m scheme on the A30 between Loggans Moor and Hayle at the weekend. There will be lane restrictions in both directions, with a 40mph (64km/h) limit enforced by new average speed cameras. They measure the average speed of a vehicle through the whole stretch of roadworks and not at a single point. The work includes renewing safety barriers and installing new drainage channels, which will affect both carriageways of the A30 at Hayle. Plate recognition It is the first time this type of speed equipment has been used in Cornwall. Highways Agency spokesman Peter Heron said the cameras should encourage motorists to drive sensibly. "There are two sets of cameras - one at each end of the site and they have number plate recognition. "They recognise a vehicle as it passes through the first camera, then check the time it takes to pass the second camera to work out the average speed. "If that is above the speed limit it will be passed to the police for enforcement." Great! :x
  17. Yeah that my next port of call but I will be very surprised if both bulbs have gone. The switch is fine because if I plug the Dim-dip coil back in the headlights come on in the sidelight position as well as the headlight position. I have also tried bypassing the dim dip coil by touching the two feed terminals together with a length of copper wire. this just turns the headlights on in the sidelight switch position. Im getting a headache, thinking about this far too much!!
  18. The worst for me was my mates mum's Mk1 Renault Clio 1.2 in 'Camp Blue' (seriously, thats what the colour was called!! You cant make it up!). I had to drive it from Cornwall to Dover and back again, t'was awful! Crap driving position, crap steering, crap brakes, crap gearbox and gutless! Yes I was glad to get out of that heap!! The second worst was another mates girlfriends Renualt 5 which I was repairing. It was pretty much the same as the clio but marginally faster (being a 1.4!). Tip: Never drive anything french - its depressing!
  19. Thats basically it yeah!, Are the sidelights on a different fuse? I didnt think about checking that, muppet! *puts shoes on and heads outside* EDIT - Just checked the owners manual, sidelights and tail lights are on the same fuse. My tail lights are working properly so it cant be the fuse! Doh!
