    VR6 Engine Cover

As above - what you got? :)
  2. Forgot to mention the switch - its also had a new switch. Sunroof seal is in excellent condition as well. Maybe I'll try another motor then. I've cleaned up the pins on this one and was thinking of giving them a slight tinning with solder. I'm 99.9% it's not a mechanical issue. I know its nothing major but its so annoying thinking yep that's done it, then back to square one next time out.
  3. Ok long story short - sunroof was tilting but not sliding. Works beautifully on the Allen key no resistance at all. Original motor wouldn't turn even when no load on so swapped motor. New motor put in and tried half a dozen times and worked every time. Next time I used the car about a week later it tilted but no more - wouldn't even close. Played about with the plug and it started working again. Couple of the connectors on the plug looked a bit iffy so swapped the plug. Same thing - would only work if you jiggled the plug. Took the motor off and resoldered the plug joints. Put the motor on the car and worked perfectly. I must have tried it 30-40 times and it worked every time. Sorted! A week later and again it tilted open then nothing. If you put pressure on the plug it opens, but to get it to close you need to lever the plug down... There's no resistance on the guides at all and it closes lovely manually. Any ideas??? It's really doing my head in now... :(

    Buying advice

Check the MOTs as well but don't get too hung up on mileage mate, a 200k car thats been looked after regardless of cost would be a better buy than a poorly maintained 150k car
  5. Looks decent from the pics mate. Any car that's 15-20 years old is going to have a few things here and there that need sorting, it's all part of the fun :)
  6. Cheers chaps :) Bit of a way to go but now the weather is starting to sort itself out I may be able to start cracking on with it again...

It's all in here mate the-corrado.net/showthread.php?77873-My-VR-stereo-install-thread&p=941533#post941533 Although most of that will be getting changed its what's lying around now...

Yeah must admit every time I drive mine I think why am I wasting so much time putting thousands of pounds worth of stereo stuff in my car...

Wow didn't realise that they were so sought after or I'd have looked harder for a G60. Still, I'm happy with mine and you can't beat that VR roar :)

I paid £1800 last summer. It's in above average condition, 139k, loads and loads of history, years tax & MOT, what I would call "all the right bits" and the only thing that needed attention was the sunroof (which was sorted with a new motor) and I refurbed the wheels. Really? When I was looking for mine last year they seemed to be pretty much on a par from what I could see. Which is surprising considering how much more awesome VRs are :D

Is it only me that thinks that nugget is horrendously overpriced at £1500? Or did I just get an absolute screaming bargain when I bought my VR?
  12. Had a bloke undertake me in my truck the other day at a set of lights then proceeded to carve me up as he pulled across into my lane as his lane, turn left only, had run out of road. Gave him a blast on the horn so he hung out of his window giving me all sorts of abuse. He was so busy doing this he didn't notice the traffic in front had stopped and smacked straight into the car in front of him. I "lolled"... :D
  13. 5A wasn't my idea squire - that credit must go to the good people of Volkswagen Audi GmbH of Vee Double Ewe Strasse, Wolfsburg, Greater Germany. Walked up to my garage, unlocked the car which activated the interior light, opened the door and got in. That's when I heard a weird noise, dodgy smell and it took a few seconds before I noticed the light was burning.
  14. The fuse kept blowing so I put a paperclip in instead :D It's a 5 amp as per the manual...
  15. No wasn't me mate* The real ****er for me is I deliberately went for the more expensive ones from a UK based supplier, although I know they pretty much will all come from the same Chinese factory. *Yes I have posted it on DW and also Talkaudio ---------- Post added at 4:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 3:11 PM ---------- Pics of it
  16. Got in my car this morning and noticed a really foul smell and a weird sound. Took a few seconds then noticed the LED bulb in my interior light was alight, not just smoking but properly on fire. Managed to rip it down and put it out before it got very bad but still a bit worrying. Didn't think this could happen with LEDs tbh but it's one of the canbus error free smd type bulbs and it looks like one of the chips has overheated. Probably a freak one in a million chance of it happening but just thought I'd let people know... PS Not my Corrado, the family Truckster
  17. I know what you mean Sean but its got to be better than using a vice, a hammer and/or a poor soldering technique which is how a lot of home installers do it. Seen a few posts now on a couple of car audio sites from people that own a set and they are actually supposed to be very good. *edit* gone back up in price now anyway :(
  18. Don't know if any of you are into installing your car audio but spotted this screaming bargain earlier http://bit.ly/Tar10n Not sure if they're any good but I've seen ones that look exactly the same for sale over here for £30-£40 so for £12 got to be worth a shot
  19. This ^ for the money all day long. Let us know what you think once it's in Craig :)
  20. My personal opinion (and I believe speakers are a very personal thing) is that JL make brilliant subs and amps but their speakers have really gone downhill the last few years. I had a set of 6.5 ZRs that I absolutely loved but the more recent JLs I've heard, especially the lower end of their range, have been disappointing. If you can I would have a listen to both and see which ones sound better to your ears :)
  21. Good article. Mine doesn't quite make my daughter cry, but it does make her squeal in a panicked voice "NOPLEASEDADDYDON'T!!!!" every time I go anywhere near the throttle :D

    £479 wow!!!!

After 12 years of being insured on various cars with HIC I ended up going elsewhere this year. The prices were nearly always spot on but it was the service that kept me going back - unfortunately I found both to be disappointing this year. Believe it or not Volkswagen Insurance were the cheapest I came across for a standard Corrado but as I declared all my mods, Lancaster were the best - all my mods declared and all the usual extras included in the price.
  23. Small update - couldn't stretch to buying a sheet of carbon fibre this side of Christmas so thought I'd just see what the 3m vinyl would look like. As expected it looks like a piece of MDF covered in sticky plastic, a bit like a 1980s school exercise book  Did get the lid done though so next job will be to get the window cut in that.
  24. Quick update - managed to get the amp surround supports and base sides/lid support made after work today. Could only grab a quick phone pic as needed to get cleared up and get in for my dinner before it got launched at me :D Haven't even had a chance to try it in the car so I've just got my fingers crossed its right...
  25. Hahaha I think I'd be more suited to doing burnouts outside the over 50s club mate :D ---------- Post added at 1:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:40 PM ---------- Quick update - had been meaning to get stuck in and get a bit more done today but my little girls off school sick, so in between emptying the sick bowl I only managed to make the amp surround. Pictures aren't the best as again only had my iPhone. The surrounds a bit wobbly cos I didn't have time to make the supports and I don't know why but the pictures make it look like the amps are on the **** - i promise you they are straight :D I think I might trim the tailgate end edge as well, its a bit deeper for a reason but it looks just a bit too deep. The surround will be skinned in carbon fibre when I'm happy with it :)
