1. The change in temp from portsmouth to glasgow will be mega, you will need to acclimatise !!! Ha Ha.... Harra, you plonker ! ill PM it now. Jimmi........
2. Alright goldie, you still down on the south coast, weather up here in gods country has been really mild lately with plenty of sun, you should try and get a post up here !! Really wish i had the time to finish the car but i just dont, few things have changed round here the past year and i dont think ill ever find the time to finish it now !If everything goes to plan i plan on moving this VR6 on to someone who will finish it so it gets the use it deserves, im also goin to bring the press car out of storage with a view to finding an owner for that. Plan then is to start with a nice corrado shell and as a long term (5+ yrs) project wedge a corvette LS1 crate motor in it with rear wheel drive. Ill always think of ways to keep busy !! Jimmi......
3. I am mate, how you keepin? did your mate get that jetta VR sorted finished? Jimmi.....
4. Oh no, my old car !! I bought that car back in 1996ish for an awful lot of money, i had to sell it when i started my business in 1997 i was gutted !! The wheels are Momo M1's which really suit the rado, they where a rare wheel back in the day and virtually extinct now !! The car always stayed local and its a real shame to see it like that. Drop me a PM Jimmi.....
5. Alright andy, hows it going? Hows my old engine goin, still ok i bet !! Your welcome down the garage anytime you like for a nose around mate my kit car is probably more impressive than the RS4 ! You seen out of the other local corrado contingency !! Jimmi..............
6. Yo dudes, I had infact forgot my password for the CF last year and as KADVR6 rightly said i wasnt that bothered to be honest but now i have a bit of time to come on the forum ill look at this, Walesy if you could delete the above threads it would appreciated, ive pm'd stan24v and if the £20 fuel pump isnt with him at this time ill gladly give him his money back. As far as the corrado goes ive done nothing with it since last summer, as the car stands the engine, box, full harness, dash, air con system is fitted to the car, it powers up when the key is turned but i havent gone as far as to try and start it yet as it needs some vag-com faults sorting first. Ive been too busy building my kit car and ive got a new golf GTI as my normal car and a new 08 RS4 ordered which arrives in july so sadly i dont have the time to finish the corrado, ill get some pictures of it in its current state and put the unfinished project up for sale. Im a bit disappointed im not goin to finish it but unfortunatly i just dont have enough hours in a day !! Jimmi...........
7. What a pisser mate, i wouldnt let your ins co know if the other guys car isnt damaged tho, Looks like your slam panel will be twisted but should repair, wing and inner wing have taken the hit, i wouldnt bother buying a wing yet the bodyshop will have to repair the inner wing so they might as well repair the outer wing. This way it keeps paint down to a minimum, only the wing will need to be painted then where as if you replace the wing the door will need painting as well All the best jimmi......
8. Well done goldie, i think it might of been the red fan shroud that gave you the engine bay win !!! Ha Ha, car is looking different to the last time i saw it on that freakishly hot spring day !! You will have to get yourself up to harewood its goin to be the maiden voyage for my corrado !! jimmi...............
9. It will fit the engine but you will have to use the mk4 or mk5 engine mounts with custom driveshafts, its doable but a chunk of fabrication, you might as well wedge an R32 motor in as its the same work jimmi.......
10. Ill add a few pics to this thread if you like mate, its been a little stale on this thread which is largely my fault !! Ive just been accross to see how "grumpy old bob" is getting on with the colour, he wasnt in (darts night!!) but the car was there and its painted in the black ground coat i dropped off on thurs, i took some fotos which i can either email or stick on here tis up to you !! It looks a bit like harras car in black (or knight rider). VR6 Banana cheers for the wiring diagrmas you sent to coxy for me mate, i owe you a few beers !! Harness is now fully sorted and those diagrams helped loads. Jimmi...........
11. Id say valve stem seals as well mate, they are super cheap as well so i'd give them a whirl, Jimmi.........
12. Keep it mate, just imagine how cool you will look driving about with the wind in your hair in the summer !!! Ha Ha !! Jimmi..............
13. Im a spray painter so what im gonna tell you do is correct, i know this as i do it every day !! BUY 1 SHEET OF 800 GRADE WET AND DRY 1 CAN OF ANY PRIMER (UPOL STUFF FROM HALFORDS IS OK) Quickly prep the light cover with the 800 wet and dry using plenty of water then dry it off properly making sure it is clean and dry. While doing this put the can of primer, paint & lacquer in warm water. When the cover is dry give it a quick clean off with some white spirit or similar. Put a piece of clean paper on the bench or wherever you are gonna paint it then put a very fine dust coat of primer on it you dont even need to completely cover it just a nice even coat will do. Wait two mins or so and get ready with the colour, same again very light coats until the object is all one colour with no patchiness, dont worry about a shine of any sort with the colour. Use a hairdryer and gently fire some heat onto it for about 30 seconds then hit it with the lacquer, this is the part which determines the shine so build up slowly til you get a nice finish on it. This will work and give you the finish you want, also as i dont know if your paint is base coat or not this way will produce the results either way. Jimmi.............................
14. If the car was infact stolen with the keys then recovered undamaged, it would not even be recorded mate, these normally go down as a cat X which doesnt show on HPI. If the car was damaged whether stolen or not it will then be classified in the usual ABI categories A,B,C,D etc. No way of knowing what the damage was unless you speak to the previous owner who made the claim. If the car is priced accordingly (ie cheaper) then i'd check the car on its face value, unless its an Aston or something i wouldnt worry too much ! Jimmi...................
15. Ive seen your car on another forum mate, have you used all the wring from the TFSI engine, ECU key etc?? I am as there seems to be no other way around it yet, id be interested to find out !! Toon-VW wrote Im not too far away from that to be honest mate, need the government to legalise 48hr days and ill have the time !! Ha Ha ! But seriously i was talking to goldie about it last week, im gonna build my corrado as a bit of a showcase as to what i can do then see what happens, car should be running by the end of next week, i think im on schedule to have it drivable by the end of the month !! Jimmi....................
