Looks good... Where did you get the zinc and yellow work done? - I've struggled to find somewhere that would do old car parts
-
Seems to work well! Good find ;)
-
I just hope people don't actually buy this stuff! Those sales brochures are £5 - £15 at most classic car shows I've visited...

Both the 2.8 and 2.9 would need head work and/or cams to see 200+ bhp, I wouldn't think filter, exhaust type mods would do the trick... but you could fall lucky on a generous set of rollers. Whilst the 2.8 is out have it bored to 2.9?

Fantastic! - and Happy Birthday!

So the 10.5:1 compression ratio is a myth? Myth-busted I guess.... Wonder what gains high comp pistons would make?

Just been on the phone to the dealer... 021 103 383 N - is obsolete. Anyone got one or know of a dealer that still sells them? - everything seems to be listed as the USA...
-
Gessss FB wont even let me look at those pages anymore.... :(
-
Cheers Dox, wanted to avoid FB if I could.. :( Not got a set in your garage have you? LOL :D
-
Just wondered if anyone had a set they didnt want? I have the 288mm calipers and carriers but I'm pretty sure to get to 312mm its just a different carrier... the calipers are the same. Just thought I'd ask before I buy discs ;)

Anyone bought Meyle engine mounts? I want to put the rear engine and gearbox mount as a standard one... are these as close to OEM as you can get now? ** as far as I can see Meyle have all their parts made in China and just shipped to Germany....
-
Cheers spen ;) Its a lot further than I expected to go - but I thought "in for a penny! - in for a £" may as well do it right and then enjoy it. ;)
-
Meyle engine mounts? Anyone used them? - seem to be about all I can find without an obscure brand name... ABS/Wheel speed sensors? Go for the £50+ (£130 each for rear) Bosch items or is Delphi / Pagid (considerably less) good enough?

Morning Chris Cheers mate ;) Yeah its starting to come together a little now, before it was an oily mess everywhere but now bits are ether new or restored... hopefully I can spend a bit of time getting the engine bay ready this weekend - still cant decide if its just a clean up or a re-paint.
-
Cheers Hasan ;) Thanks for your email reply too, greatly appreciate the pointers on the conversion. Still cant fathom out the pedal box...

Yeah I masked off the rubber boots and the face of the trackrod that hits the locking nut and painted with a couple of coats of Eastwood Chassis black - I dont like the fact that they come in bare steel, like you say they only have to be on a short while and the rust is on it. Not sure on the F40 details... its up at my mates place... he's done a lot of work on it... what he calls "Germanizing it" as a lot of the factory stuff is just a lashy afterthought..

The F40 engine belongs to this.. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk

That grey leather recaro would look good in my car! lol ;)

Just thought I'd do a quick update on the build... not much to report really.. Bits have come back from powder coating - chap did a pretty good job I've spent ages flatting down and wet painting ball joints and track rod ends - they all come as bare steel which I'm not keen on. I've also pressed the bearing, hubs and R32 bushes. I wet painted the hubs as I didn't really want a shot-blaster knocking layers off the bearing seat, so a days soaking in hydrochloric acid otherwise know as path and patio cleaner and they were back to bare metal before a few good coats of Eastwood extreme chassis black. came up really nice. Just look at that magnificent engine! - no not the F40 one! the VR6 in boxes below it! lol Thats going off this week along with the head to have all the bits done, my next job is cleaning and getting the engine bay ready. - the aircon has gone... how they can ever of called that an option is beyond me... it definitely doesn't pass my OCD fitting standards, if things are there they have to look right as well as work ;)
