Hiya VEEDUB! Chris pounced straightaway with the loom and boot :( sorry mate I really need a spring thou! :) Have you moved your part warehouse back to Blighty yet? :D - if you need temporary storage I have some room in my garage... I won't touch any of it! promise! ;)
-
Are you mad??
-
Can anyone help with these? Boot for PAS linkage through bulkhead and an engine loom for a 93 VR6? Still after a clutch pedal spring as well if anyone has one? ;)
-
Hmmm never been a huge fan of Beige.... I think if I had one I'd possibly try something like this? https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/How_To_Change_The_Colour_Of_Leather_Car_Seats Even if it didn't make it to jet Black... a dark grey or dark chocolate could look good And then source black or vinyl wrap the plastic's.. new black carpet is available from Heritage
-
Right got it... when you say rear, you mean the rear-est front bush press with R32 and use the standard on the pivot bush! ;) Out of interest has anyone tried the solid cast wishbones from an R32 or TT?
-
OK to use them up front? or will it rattle your teeth out? I had them on my MK4 Golf but unsure of them impact on the VR6.
-
Cheers Ian. I guess the R32 rears just tighten it up a bit more? does anyone know if they are still available from the dealer? Would there be any benefit to using them in the front as well? OE look and slightly stiffer? or are they too much?
-
Ahhh yes - it was parked up on a stand with no front end installed... my Mum isn't best pleased with the appearance, I suggested a cover, but she's not keen. Hopefully once I can get rolling again it won't be too long before its mobile again. ;) Have you ever purchased front suspension arms for that Corrado you're building in the loft? ;) - I cant make up my mind... blast and paint the originals and use R32 bushes or just replace the lot... hmmmm
-
Cheers mate! ;) - it doesn't usually look that tidy :D has anyone ever bought these kits off ebay? if so are they any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-SUSPENSION-UPDATE-KIT-CORRADO-VR6-GOLF-MK3-GTI-VR6-2X-ALL-ITEMS-LISTED/263045784297?_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3De00cd84086ab4f27805d2efc628b9fe2%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D3%26sd%3D263008721266 Or do I get mine blasted and painted? then install something like R32 or TT bushes? I would think Febi would be OEM?

;) Cheers mate - pretty old now but sounds great on the games rig.

Definitely go for a MIG welder... oxy acetylene is to hot and you'll get panel distortion (take it you're welding the car?), Arc is hard work and unless you're good its difficult to not make it look like a pigeon hasn't dumped all over your work... If you don't have a lot to do hire a good one like a Murex..

Not sure I have much that's interesting.... :( A CPL Mux waiting to be installed from Ciena.... Two MOTR cards from a 5200 DWDM shelf... A tub fulla SFP's An old Xbox I've upgraded the HDD in and installed CoinOps but never finished... :( And a Lagotek HIP-100 home automation panel.. Bout it from me... there's a pile of old laptops.. various adapters and converters and a whole heap of mess! LOL! :(

Finally got round to making a start! been rounding up parts and thinking about what I'm going to do - made a deal with my Mum that if I cleaned the garage out I could work on the car there! So a litre of floor paint and a few trips to the local tip we were ready... I'd already moved the car round a couple of weeks earlier so we made a start.. I had a mate helping me... his rather nice GTI in the background, the radiator and support bracket had disintegrated, both of which I've got... brand new Hella rad and a powdercoated rad support waiting to go on.. It still had the factory fit exhaust, but unfortunately it had also made a huge attempt to return to mother earth... so out came the grinder :( By the end of the afternoon the car was in the garage and suitably chocked out ready to drop the entire front end. Beers were also on the agenda! ;) Next morning we undid the rest of the sub-frame bolts and dropped the whole lot out in one go... pretty much identical to the way I used to do MK2 GTI's ;) - just a bit bigger. and here it is! Continued to strip it down, it came apart really well considering the age and how long it had been stood, it was all as it had left the factory as far as we could tell it had never been pulled about. Plan is to get all the metal work blasted and powder-coated so it will look like new, everything else will get a dam good clean and refurbed as needed. A good friend of mine owns a Porsche tuning company and we're going to have a chat once the motor is stripped down - I'm going to do shells, seals and chains of course, but I'm also thinking along the lines of a mild port'n'polish and big valve head so I can bring her into the 200hp club whilst still looking OEM. Unfortunately there was one casualty :( - just as we pushed the body over the last bit of the engine it clipped the engine loom multi plug :( Gutted! it's bent the pins so I'll have to source a new one. to be fair it was in pretty bad condition with most of its wrapping missing and what was there was very brittle .. if anyone has one let me know. Then it was off to Guns'n'Roses on the Saturday! all in all a good weekend!
