  1. You can get the tensioner on and off by hand, you just need to lean on it and give it a tap with a hammer
  2. Good news fella :-) always like to hear a happy ending! I would love to know why these crank bolts always wait untill the weather is at its worst to break! :-( this time last year I spent a Sunday in the rain on my back changing mine!
  3. I have been waiting since the summer for this thread to turn up, how's this for a Toad love pic  What else can I say about the man who lets me play with his tractor and lends me his dry barn for weekend Corrado tinkering! He's a legend :thumbleft:
  4. The windscreen washer jet's packed up on my first Gilf GTi the day before the MOT :-( So I bodged in a switch and taped it to the stalk with electrical tape 8) but the feckers still wouldnt let it pass till I made a label and stuck it on the switch  Not had to bodge the C yet and dont think I could bring myself to do it!
  5. Sounds like the immobiliser is playing up, apparently there is a transponder ring around the ignition barrel that fails but am sure one of the VR brigade can explain better though
  6. get hold of a copy of the Haynes book of lies for the 16v Golf GTi :)
  7. Because my car is too low to jack anywhere else :(
  8. I had a MK2 8v Golf GTi rust bucket on an 86 plate as my first Dub then moved to an 88 16v MK2 GTi both amazing fun to drive, took the 8v round Europe with the misses and she never missed a beat then blew her head gasket aslmost as soon as we got home  The valver had spaceship mileage and a forked gearbox but an afternoon under the car and swapping in a recon 8v box she ran for another 40,000 miles before I got my C and started breaking the thing :(
  9. Nope :D this is the one you want: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... ack-stands They also do a very low one for getting under lowered cars although its £70 I am going to get one at some point as I would love to be able to jack on the suspension rather than the sill both sides now have flat spots and I dont like it :-(
  10. Give Machine Mart a try they where doing a trolly jack and stands (2 tonne) for about £20 :)
  11. I have had a few large bills in that last year starting with an £800 one for the first "service" sufice to say the car I had just picked less than a week before up was a rolling disaster :-( After that came the new oil pump, new CAT, new tyres x3, all for another £600 all within the first month of ownership. It was about there that I decided I had to start working on my car myself rather than paying a garage to do it for me and so I still have the car (otherwise I would never have been able to afford to keep her!) The below where before I owned the car but still some impressive bills! A £2000 bill from C+R for everything required for an engine rebuild done in 2003 and another bill from VW for £1200 for a brand new charger in 2002, then there is the £800 bill from Jabba for an R1 rebuild of above mentioned new charger + the Jabba induction kit 8)
  12. Dont break the poor old beast tot up roughly what you would get for parts then divide that by utter ball ache of stripping her and dealing with people over price/delivery/hassle for not getting back to them quick enough :? Its just not worth it! Give her a chance of a new owner who will love and cherish thier new Corrado 8) Just my two pennith
  13. Mines a daily, no choice at the moment but looking for a job closer to home so I can spend more on toys rather than wear and tear :-( 40 miles a day over a year costs too much in bloody petrol!!
  14. Nice find and an interesting read! Thank god he decided against pop up lights though
  15. Looking again.... How do you tell the PS fluid level? Not the old unscrew the cap and shine a torch in there?
  16. Nice work Monza she is looking lovely!! Just spent most of the day reading through this post  Just wanted to add my congratulations to the list! Hope your going to be at some shows next year? This is yet another G60 I want to see in person (and every show I went to this year had a decided lack of G60ness!!) Cheers Dan

    charger

Hi Mate, That's the silencer (makes the charger run a little quieter) your best bet as its restrictive is throw it in the bin and get one of these RSR Outlet's from here: http://www.g-werks.com/Products_Superch ... fault.aspx Cheers Dan
  19. As mentioned above.... Check your timimg marks, its a simple procedure and there is loads of info on the forum about how to do it :? Why give a garage loads of cash to do what you can do in 30 mins on your drive?
  20. Sounds like the dreaded G60 crank bolt working loose again to me!! Check your timing marks on the crank, dizzy and cam :( bet they are out
  21. Na buy a new one and I will take the old one off you at a blown bulb discount of say £5?

  23. If anyone does get another hole in their fog or headlight I have found the best way to seal it without being able to see the "fix" is clear tape :-) worked on my old golf for years, And more recently on the C
