Finaly heard back from the insurance company today, they are going to give me a Cash-in-lieu settlement and are going to un-write off my car hurrah!! Its only taken Three months of me shouting at them just goes to show, never give in never surrender fight the ba$%£^%S all the way! Quite annoying that it took so much effort and involvment from me when I was the victim of some complete muppet driving down the side of my car! :-( but the main thing is its going to be fixed and good as new. Having never had a claim before I was completly unaware of what slimly low life creatures of the deep insurance companies are! From now on it will be agreed value all the way just to avoid this hassle in the future! And if the same ever happens to you and they try to write off your car for cosmetic damage ask about a cash-in-lieu settlement and dont take no for an answer! :-)
  2. You cant argue with Einstein  I mean us G60 owners knew it all along but its nice to have it confirmed.
  3. Hey Andy, Good to see you back :-) shame I dont live so close anymore or I would be round the weekend to give you a hand! :-( keep us posted with work on the leak! Dan
  4. You think the outside of the Rover makes you horny...... Wait till you sniff the drivers seat
  5. The G60 ones are supposed to be offset (but obviously not bent! :D ) I only found out when the garage replaced mine with the straight ones and the bushes kept popping out, apparently the straight ones are for the MK3 Golf
  6. Nice work mate :-) I hear you have recently had a new addition to your collection...... when do we get to see some pics of all three lined up nicly outside Toad hall?
  7. After calming down (quite a lot it does help living in Amsterdam :-)) I spoke to the Claim's service people and told them I either want my car fixed or £3000 and I get to keep the car, anything else is a waste of both there time and mine, I will need to provide copies of all the receipts for the work done on my car (no problem there I have £1000's worth!) and MOT certifacate, V5 etc. They are now aware that its MY way or face an on-going daily hassle from me and if that doesnt work there is always legal action and http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/p ... putes.html Just got to play the waiting game I guess :? such a pain in the ass though! I am really pissed off that I have to go through all this hassle and I didnt even do anything wrong! :bad-words:
  8. Am insured with HIC already :) agreed Martin is a top guy and I will keep you all posted of how I get on, at the moment I have just got off the phone with "the claim service" who (as the name suggests) deal with the claim's they appeared to be quite supprised that I had not heard anything from anoyone except the letter I got yesterday from the scrap dealer telling me that thay had been authorised to pick my car up! :censored: So they have basicly written off my car on the basis of ONE quote from the garage I selected to do the work, they have not even sent out anyone to look at the car! :bad-words: the poor guy I was speaking to also mentioned that as far as they are concerned the car is only worth £1420 so he did get shouted at! :cuckoo: Basicly this is turning in my worst nightmare, I really really really regret not going whole hog on the guys insurance and got a hire car, claimed for whiplash, loss of earning's etc. Lesson to learn here, all insurance companies are c%£ts you may as well screw the :censored: for all you can because its only ever us that loose out! I thought that by keeping the cost of the whole claim down I would be more likely to get my car fixed, how stupid was I!!?? Next time some moron drives into me I WILL be claiming for everthing!! :mad2: Mr Angry!
  9. Thats what I thought, I understand that they can write off the car if its too badly damaged but I assumed that as it wasnt my fault and its only surface damage i.e dented door and wing that they would have to fix it! But apparently not, if anyone can enlighten me here I would love to know my rights before I speak to the theaving ba5t4rd insurance company! :help:
  10. The phrase "Completly gutted" doesnt even cover it.... the first I heard of it was a letter from the salvage company yesterday say they had been requested to come pick up the car, they have been told to get to f%^& If I had caused the crash I would be a little more understanding but I was stationary when this :censored: hit me, and he only dented the door and wing, I dont undersatnd how they can just write it off!! There is no way they are taking my car until I have an offer I am happy with from the insurance company, so anyone have any ideas on what value to reasonably expect for a 92 G60 in reasonable nick? :pale: P.s please no requests for parts, its painfull enough as it is with out the vulchers closing in. If it comes to it the parts will appear on here. :-(
  11. I dont know but I promise even if they dont work on this bolt, you WILL be very glad you have them the next time you run into this problem! I would suggest you go get a set and try them, so much easier than cutting off the head of the bolt and trying to extract the thread!! :?
  12. Irwins to the rescue!! http://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-394001-Bolt ... B0000CCXVZ They are the dogs do da's and have saved me from allen bolt nightmare's too many times to count!
  13. Is that dog throwing up? Not sure on the mirrors in black but the grill looks wicked! :-) nice work!
  14. Not sure in the inlet mani question, probably more of a "get stuck in and see" job, but for the rounded nut you need a set of these: http://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-394001-Bolt ... B0000CCXVZ Best add-on for my tool kit and absoutly essential for getting off those bloody allen bolts that VW used everywhere, and that local spanner monkeys still dont know how to undo properly! :bad-words: Dan
  15. The Vents just pull out I think, give em a tug and they should just pop out
  16. Not really very helpfull but I always turn up the tunes till I cant hear the rattles/squeaks any more :norty:
  17. I lived at the Foyes corner end of Shirley Rd till Feb but I moved to Amsterdam for my new job, the car and the misses are still at the old address though  going to get them shipped over next month, that is assuming of course that the insurance company pay out for getting the beast resprayed after some tw&t drove into the side of me a few weeks ago :-( so she will have to wait back in the UK till thats all sorted, will drop you a PM next time I am back though :salute:
  18. Does look lovely, thought I recognised a few of the places in those pics being from Southampton and all :-)
  19. Supprised to see no one mentioned lifting up the steering wheel to give your legs a bit more clearence for the entry/exit!? :-) Although the rubber penis idea is also a good one, anyone wishing to share a room with Tom and I in Germany for the Kharman trip will need to bring their own though! :camp:
  20. Have you checked/replaced the pas fluid? It could just be low, that would cause the noise and difficulty in turing when stationary.
  21. Yes and the guy who hit us is going to take a hammering on his insurance but he didn't cause the crash, the d1ck in the BMW did and he got away scott free :censored: I hope his head gasket goes, his ears turn into a55holes and sh1te all over his shoulders!
  22. Na didnt get his reg unfortunatly :-( oh well the door and wing in question needed a respray anyway and she will be right in time for the national day  and looking better than before 8) I hear congratulations are in order for your result on Sunday Kip :salute: nice work fella!
  23. I went down to Plymouth to catch up with friends and family on the weekend, got all the way down there and was sitting in slow moving traffic in the left hand lane when I noticed that the BMW (wan%^r!!) a few cars in front was getting upset that people kept driving down the outside lane and merging at the front of the que :hitler: so he starts to pull out into the outside lane to stop them, only they keep going round him on the double white lines so he pulls out further and then stops because the inside lane has stopped... one lady with three kids in the back manged to stop in time next to me but the one behind that didnt he skidded for 15-20 feet then managed to avoid the back of the car in the outside lane and went in between my car and hers damaging both and went on to write off the car in front of mine! The BMW driver of course then just forked off :censored: Fortunatly no one was hurt and the guy who did the damage accepted liability there and then and called the police, who much to everyones delight on Bank Holiday weekend closed the entire road at 6:00pm on a friday you can imagine the chaos this caused. Anyway I have put in a clame through my insurance and hopefully should have it all fixed soon, I was most gutted that I missed Stanford Hall because of it though :( So if anyone has a (late) drivers side wing and or door for sale please let me know :) Cheers all Dan
  24. The windows on my 92 G60 are one touch down on both side's but only the drivers side is one touch up  but I thought all the "later" cars where like that? Also the reason why you can only do one window at a time is becasue VW skimped on the wiring, apparently (and this is only what I have heard!!) the wiring from the window regulator just wont (or shouldn't) handle the double amount of current it would take to use both windows at once so its unlikely that a new relay would make any differnce, however if anyone can corrent me here I would be happy to be proved wrong :D
