Hey Guys, Last week while I was all excited about getting my car back I decided to whip the charger off and change the small belt :) needless to say this being a Corrado it ment fighting rounded off cap head bolts and trying to jam my hands into tiny gaps with skin shredding results. Anyway long story short I had to put it all back together again without changing the belt as I couldnt get the :censored: sliencer off the end of the charger and I didnt want to break it not having a replacement, so in the process of putting it back together I managed to snap the plastic dipstick holder tube while moving one of the boost tubes out of the way. :( so I need a new one, anyone got the part number for one of these on a 92 G60 please? As I will have to go to my local Dutch VW dealer and I am assuming they will be just as bad as the UK parts guys.... Cheers Dan

its either the feed or return pipe for the heater matrix, should be easy enough to get hold of from the main stealers

Just a heads up, if putting early door cards onto a door that had Late door cards, you will need the central locking unit (just the bit that sits in the door) from a late car, fortunatly the door I was swapping in had the unit already in there but beware if you have picked up a fully stripped late door to go on! p.s this was drivers side but I suspect it will be the same story on the passenger side Cheers Dan

Yep I brought her over on the ferry from Harwich on Sunday night and drove up from Hook to Amsterdam on Monday morning, great fun lots of heads turning as Corrados appear to be very rare over here! I have only seen Two in a year of living in Holland now  Found a few Garages just over the border in Germany to get my charger re-built too as its overdue (and last rebuilt by Jabba Sports :gag: ) should look at getting it done asap really! Any excuse for a trip down the nearest Autobahn  sooooo whos up for a summer Europe trip?? :D

I would be interested in one of these if you still have spares? :) regards Dan

Yep thats the one, although I’m not sure they have “exactly” the same dimensions ect as I didn’t do a side by side comparison but to strip and clean they are identical :)

In a word, no :D the black plastic posts that the spoiler moves on need to be grease free because the only support the spoiler and aid water flow away from the mech and inside of the boot, iirc the mech is fairly simple just two toothed bits of steel connected to cables that pull/push the plastic posts up and down. Gutted I didnt take any pics when I had it all apart now :-( If you are blowing fuses its a sign your motor either needs cleaning or replacing. Cheers Dan
-
"If" it's the same problem I had the bloody thing started off intermittantly blowing fuses so I picked a nice day and stripped the mech out of the boot lid (a bas£$%d of a job btw but take you time and it will come out) then cleaned and greased the moving parts, bench testing showed it was a jammed motor so I stripped and cleaned all the sh1te out of it and reassembled its worked fine ever since. The problem with this motor is that although it has self cleaning bushes it doesnt run long enough to clean itself, so over 15 years as the brushes wore down it got full of crap and stops working. (btw the spoiler motor is almost identical to the vr electric water pump as I rebuilt teh forked one form Toad's VR) its a long and dirty job but worth doing as replacement motors are expensive (if you can still get them) so check your fuses, if you replace the fuse and it blows again fairly soon after replacement get the motor out and clean it before it burns out! Let me know if you get stuck and I will gladly help you through it :) Cheers Dan

Not sure on the stripping side, but if the refelectors are anything like the foglight ones only use warm soapy water and be carefull how hard you scrub! As I got stuck in with window cleaner and rubbed off the silvering on mine before I even noticed.... :brickwall:

depends how much time you have, if you have somewhere warm and dry to do it, and how much you enjoy fiddling with bodywork? I swapped the door and wing on mine recently and it was a complete bas%^$d!! But could have been a lot worse.... in my humble opinion I would have to recommend letting a garage do it! And to be fair I didnt swap much over between the doors as I had a complete spare just the handle really, it would have been even more of a nightmare if I had to do the glass and motor etc...

I managed to break the sun roof on mine on the way home from buying it :-( then I discovered the Jammed shut release valve on the oil pump and the fact the front bumper was cable-tied on underneath.... Gurrrr!! Not long after that I suffered from the dreaded G60 Variable crank timing issue, had to replace all the petrol hoses, water hoses, ECU Relay, ignition switch, bonnet release cable.... And so on, anyway the point is that although I didnt budget or expect to have to deal with all of this it has never left me at the side of the road and all of the above was the result of the previous owner being a complete arsehole and not knowing "a service" from a kick in the balls! Thank god he has gone back to Rice! My car had until recently been sitting in Uncle Tom's barn for about 6 months when I turned up in early December and after charging the battery drove it from Winchester to Plymouth and then back up to Portsmouth without any problems what so ever! :-) -
Someone out there would really swap a G60 for Mundaino???
