I did all this cleaning malarky and just bit the bullet and bought a new motor for it worked a treat ever since.

Never tried a Quaife but supposed to be better in that when one wheel lifts it still sends power to that wheel. Quaife does not, go on youtube or the website all explained there.

Mine did exactly the same, everytime i started from cold it would flash. If i turned the engine off straight away and restarted it would be fine. Plenty of patten copies available so theres options at least.

Could be motor regulator too. Mine had started not opening on the drivers side one day then the next it would work fine. Gradually its been getting worse and now doesnt open atall.

Yeah mate Also if you havn't done already mark where the striker pin currently sits so you dont have a problem when lining up your new one.

I bought a new expansion tank from vw a couple of years back fitted it and would constantly flash on the dash. Swapped for another new expansion tank from vw and its been fine since. Only thing i can put it down to is a dodgy batch of level sensors as ive heard a couple of people having the same problem.

No fans atall usually is the yellow sender on the thermostat housing. This controls the dash and also the fan control box (black rectangle shaped box near expansion tank). Check wiring to this and if you look on the first page of the cooling guide you will see how to check thats the cause. Check the fuses in the control box too.
