  1. How did you get on crazymarcel with the mirrors? Want to get mine done too.
  2. Want to get my C tinted. Light smoke seems to be the way to go. I see loads of pre-cut tinting kits on E-Bay. Does anyone know if these are easy to fit, legal, etc? Also, do they cover the black speckled strip stuff that runs round the bottom of the windows? My passenger side window also has a scratch in it. Will tinting film cover it or will it look shee-it? Cheers!
  3. On the M6 the other day. Slight possibility I might have drifted slightly over the speed limit... Next thing I know there's a big black Range Rover behind me. Then the blue lights came on under the front grill. I pulled over to the middle lane and slowed down, and our respected boys in blue came past signalling me to slow down. Does anyone have any experience of this? Was this just a friendly warning, or will they have filmed me? Should I expect a fine and points through the post? Still in my first two years of driving, and already have 3 points. This would mean - no licence. This would put me so far into the dog house with my mrs that I doubt I would ever get out of it to even see my C let alone drive it... :(
  4. What is this ETKA thing? Still a beginner...
  5. I have no idea what 90% of that stuff you have put in there does. It's making me dribble however! Where do you learn to do this stuff???!!! I've been looking in books, on the net, talking to mechanics, but am not getting any closer. Maybe it's time to give up my job as a secondary teacher, leave my family and start a new life as a monk-like apprentice to some shaolin buddha master from the temple of C mods...
  6. Liking the rims on that Model T Therapor! Any chance we could organise a group buy and bring the price down?! Might get some of those headlamps as well...
  7. I'm looking at doing this soon, so will post something up here when I do. My mate (who knows more than me!) says it's better to do it when it's a bit warmer. Can't remember why...
  8. Mine's going in exactly the same place - around the Corrado badge on the rear. It's nowhere near as bad as your's Fingers, but it's swelling up from under the paint. Does anyone know what's best to do. My thought was take the badge off, Hammerite and then sand it down. The only problem is the paint. I've got a touch-up stick (sounds a bit wrong that does...) but I don't think that'll do a smooth job. Can you get Rado paints in cans? Do I need to invest in a spray gun? Don't want to do anything that makes it look shite.
  9. 3 women owners! My girlfriend's mum has a Beetle and it's never been into 5th gear. Generally she just drives everywhere in 3rd - not because she likes hearing the engine roar, she doesn't seem to realise that it's not too good for the car....
  10. Anyone got any thoughts on these sort of things: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FUEL-SAVER-FOR-VW ... dZViewItem I keep seeing things like them all over the place. Sounds like sh*te to me - but I'm still learning. If it was that simple - wouldn't VW, Vauxhall, etc fit this kit themselves???
  11. I see your in Kingston, I go to a good, reliable and for London pretty cheap mechanic in Hounslow. Cheers mate - I live in Staffordshire though which is a bit further away! If anyone knows of a good Corrado specialist in the Mighty Staffs then let us know...
  12. Thanks mate. Not sure what half the things you mention are, but it sounds like I need to get some!
  13. Just get the grinding noise at full-lock. Will have a look at it myself, but as I'm a bit of beginner, I wanted to get a bit of an idea what I should be looking for. Also, where do I get a list of part numbers from? Is there one on-line? Thanks for the help...
  14. Thanks for the advice. At the moment it seems to run well but yesterday a funny grating noise has developed as I'm working my way through the gears, which disappears when I get up into 5th. Also, when I turn at full lock there is a grinding sort of noise. I just want to start simple and build it up, so that when I do drop something major in to beef up the power, it doesn't explode on me! Jim - where did you get your suspension/drive train bits done? Did you do it yourself? What's a good thing to start with?
  15. Cheers fellas... One thing at a time though! The beanie and renaming I can manage. As for switching the engine??! My mrs is pressuring me to buy a more sensible diesel Focus (as we have one 2 year old and another on the way). To avoid this I have to get my valver running sweetly and looking even better. I changed the oil and filter today. What next? The fuel pump? Or is it a case of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Do I wait till I hear noises from under the bonnet...? I'll get to that V6 one day...
  16. Easy... I've just bought a '95 2.0 16v and am loving it. It has absolutely no mod's, and I'm looking forward to turning it into one of the beasts that so many of you on the forum seem to drive. A few problems though... I am an absolute beginner in terms of cars (it's only my second car after owning a Vauxhall Cav!). Where do I start? I've spent HOURS searching the net for tips and ideas, and have bought a workshop manual (which isn't brilliant). The wiki you have here is good, as it contains lots of photo's and step by step advice (more please!). My gut feeling is to start by servicing it and making sure it runs smoothly before I start lowering it and sticking new rims on it. Could anyone give me some advice on what I need to do, or point me in the direction of a website or book? Cheers!
  17. Cheers fellas! Will get these things looked at (am waiting for a book to show me where these things are!) The mileage on it 106,000, so I did expect a few problems when I bought it. Incidentally, today I've noticed a grinding sort of noise when I turn with the wheel at full lock. Don't know if this is anything that needs looking at? Thanks for sharing the wisdom...
  18. Easy. Hopefully someone can help... I've just bought a 95 2.0 16v Rado, and am loving it. My Mrs on the other hand isn't. We have one 2 year old, and another one on the way now, and she regards it as impractical and in many ways totally unsuitable to our current needs. She just doesn't understand! Unfortunately, it has broken down twice in the last fortnight, which isn't helping my case for keeping it. I've sorted these things out (a new distributor cap and throttle cable). Today though I have had more problems. Turing into two junctions at 20 mph, the steering has gone totally heavy, and I have been unable to turn the wheel to anywhere near full lock. When I go over bumps, it also seems to pull to one side crazily. Also, when I accelerate quickly to overtake things, it pulls to one side. Is this tracking, ball joints, power steering fluid issues, etc etc??? This is only my second car, and I'm still learning. Any sharing of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking, maybe I should just take it into a garage and let them give it a full service. Can you recommend any good ones near Stoke-on-Trent?
