Could also be the coil pack or leads. Check for arcing around the casing of the coil pack. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Almost certainly a sensor problem. Could be one of the many engine temperature sensors, or a degrading crank sensor. Get vag-com or equivalent and scan for codes. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

You can always paint them.. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

"Comfort" hehe. All things are relative. Even a terrible modern car rides way better than the best Corrado..! A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Later cars got the suspension straight off the Passat axle, they apparently didn't bother changing the spring height. On the upside you can ride over speed ramps with impunity... Afaik you can't fit early suspension or springs all the fittings are different (top mounts, hubs, spring cups). A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Bosch engine management, don't you know.. You should see modern cars with two/three lanbdas, those things go limp home mode on a half misfire. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

The other thing is you might need to run it for a while for fuelling errors to be picked up by the ECU. It will attempt to adapt for a while before declaring a fault. If you can read the live values out yourself you might shortcut. E.g. the lambda value needs to be fluctuating between about 0.9 and 1.1 every few seconds, the MAF needs to show realistic values (i.e. they need to change..) and the TPS needs to smoothly increment from about -5 degrees to just over 90 degrees. This unplugging the MAF at idle business is a potential red herring. My MAF works fine, but the engine never even hiccups at idle if you unplug it while it's running. I believe the opposite is only true of earlier hot-wire MAFs. Crank position sensor tells the engine what the RPMs are, cam position sensor confirms top dead centre position for it exactly, but the TPS only tells it the throttle butterfly opening amount. This is just used to select which fuel/ignition map to use. The knock sensors are only used to control ignition retard, and I think it will fully retard (15 degrees rings a bell?) If one of them is not working at all. MAF and lambda are critical for fuelling, the MAF reading is calibrated using the lambda reading. Trouble is, all the sensors need to be working for the engine to run right.. quickest way to find out what's up is a code reader. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Negotiation happens in private message not the thread itself, please folks. This is a for sale section. If you don't want it at the advertised price, don't join the thread! A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Ask the OBDeleven crew. I've used it on my VR6 and our mk7 golf with no issues. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Was the new Scirocco updated with EPAS? I thought they were hydraulic cos VW didn't want to spend any money on the update. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Try it - every car I've driven with electronic PAS has sucky steering feel (which isn't a huge amount of cars I'll grant yer). The steering feel is one of the great things about a Corrado and I'd miss it immensely if it was gone. I don't think anyone is claiming 5% either. It has more impact on mpg than power. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
-
That I've not tried... Get on the OBDeleven forums and ask them. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Generic ones won't because the VR6 isn't OBD2 it just used an OBD2 connector. OBDeleven does work on the VR6 however I can confirm this as I have one... A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Electronic power assistance is a killer for steering feel usually. The old hydraulic racks are so much better for proper driving. Though it is true they moved to it as a technology because it improves efficiency. (1-2 mpg). A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
-
You need the old version of vag-com. I can recommend OBDeleven instead if you have a late VR6. Bluetooth and a modern smartphone app makes it a lot more convenient than cables. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

You can do the coding in-situ with the right software. Yes, 95 cars will have the ecu with part number ending "CP", meaning coil pack, and will have an immobiliser. You may be able to buy an ECU with keys and retumbler the locks instead. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
-
ECU are not that expensive used but if it's a late car you need to code it to your keys. I would agree, sounds like the ECU at fault. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

They are good but damn modern cars have so much better brakes it's astonishing, in absolute stopping power not so much as feel or anything like that. The brakes are bigger, the wheels are bigger, the chassis is better able to prevent the shifts of weight and keep the wheels in position. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

Super loud popping/clunking from front passenger wheel area

Also if you've not already done so, check the ARB drop links. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT. -
One thing to note is that old cars have way, way way more steering feel than any modern cars and the difference in the amount of feedback from the wheels making it up to the steering wheel is staggering. All modern cars have ****e steering by comparison. Just a point to make if this is your first foray into owning an older car. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

I believe this is "the" common fail in the window mechanism and both my windows rattle because of this. It's infuriating because it's a long tedious tricky repair job... A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
-
Bumps in the road surface? Or are you implying the power assistance is pushing against you? It's obviously normal for the steering to be weighted to want to straighten up. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
-
It's not responsible for holding the glass steady and preventing rattle, the rest of the mechanism should do that. And, you can change my rollers! A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.

The windows are notorious for rattling but it's nothing to do with the scraper seals in general. The whole window mechanism gets bad and typically some plastic components break with age. A Corrado is for life, not just for the MOT.
