  1. Multimeter is always good place to start. Try the corresponding fuse/relay as there's one per seat. In my haste, I pulled my seat apart (okay I was cleaning it anyway) only to find it was a bad contact.
  2. http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/showD ... geNumber=7 I should coco
  3. I like this a lot. Can't wait to see it all put together.
  4. Course I will but from memory the sliders are just standard and the two buttons occupy a switch where the switch blank is found, under the fogs and HRW. I'm sure I've seen the same switch/setup in the Golf MK2 Haynes manual. Yep, sounds the same as mine (92 VR-early interior)
  5. Have you had the door handle apart/ off ? If so, you may have inserted the barrel upside down !
  6. From what I have read over the years, UK cars had to be retro fitted with the Diavia system as it was non standard equipment (i would imagine to keep the retail cost of the car down). Where as the US and Euro cars had the system fitted from the factory ? I've never seen my system on another Corrado (Early interior) as it's always the later cars with the rotary dials with air con I've seen. Try VW Vortex as this system in consistent with the US ? PS: I would be keen to hear how this turns out. Keep me posted. NB: I've also seen the same set up on a late MK2 golf (rare US spec mind)
  7. I've seen them sliders before on US spec cars. Does it say anything in the Bentley manual ? Sorry but I can't help with the mechanics of operation. I would only imagine that the slider triggers the air con at some point.
  8. I have a Diavia system on a 92 VR6 if that's any good ? If it is then the air con system has two buttons on the dash. One (yellow) re-circulates the air and cuts of external air supply. The other (blue) activates the air con. The cold air is simply fed into the existing air channels. The sliders don't affect the air con at all. They only adjust direction and hot/cold adjustment. I'd send you an image but the cars gone in for some work and won't be back for a few weeks. Hope this helps James
  9. Nice rims. Did fancy a set of these for mine. Another Vr in the north west then ?
  10. .....I had a feeling the response would go something like that - I feel the same about mine mate, but my miss' always says that if someone came along at the right price blah blah !!!....... :nono: I dont think so :D ......thing is with yours is that by the time its finished that 'right price' might just be higher than you might imagine  To be fair to my missus, she is 100% behind the car and its restoration. Maybe because she's a named driver on it has something to do with it ! Funny but when somebody asks me what I drive the conversation usually goes something along the lines of: "Oh a Corrado, that was the Scirrocco replacement (or Mk2 Scirrocco), yeah" "Is it a VR6" "Is it a storm" "Oh its not a storm" "A campaign.. naaah sorry mate, never heard of it. What's one of them then" They then also start talking about its worth but honestly it matters not one jot (apart from to the insurance) as the enjoyment I get out of it is priceless. I've a friend who's a 911 fan and showed his 964 turbo 2 and used to get many offers of purchase but always declined as if he was to get rid of it, it must be on his terms.
  11. I've "nearly" bought a classic car every year for the past ten years and bottled it every year. Therefore I always said to myself that if the "right" Corrado turned up I'd buy it and keep it, end of. I remember seeing a Campaign being talked about many moons ago in a magazine article and thought "Hey, that sounds like my kind of car" shortly followed by "Yeah and I'm going to see one of them any time soon". So when this came up for sale I was in the very fortunate position of having time and money on my hands. My last job meant that I had to control budgets and lead times so I simply applied what I know to the Campaign. I've set a budget and time scale for the current work and am currently right on track. I plan to run the car through the six months of summer (or what we refer to as summer) and then set to work next winter on the next stage, which will involve the engine bay and restoring/replacing corroded parts of the car. No matter how I look at it, it's a labour of love, but I have to be ruthless about expenditure otherwise it could get out of control. I never plan to sell the car. I sold my 16V four years ago and wanted another after seeing it being driven away (and nearly did on two occasions). Okay there "may" be a time when I have to consider it for the sake of the family but in near future that isn't going to happen (he says fingers crossed).
  12. Sounds sad but you've got a point. If I'm not careful it'll be like when you go to someones house and they ask you to leave your shoes at the door ! Where do all the shoes go ? Don't think VW ever put a shoe rack on the options list !
  13. Is that a nice touch/idea from yourself or did they come like that from VW ??......either way strangley sadly cool :) My idea (take responsibility be it good flak or bad flak). It gets worse though as I want a bonnet bra made in the same colour leather. I did think about a set of shoes in the same leather but that's just being silly ! Or is it...??? I'm starting to get quite giddy at the prospect of driving her complete again. Though I'm under no illusion that there's a lot of work to be done yet.
  14. After literally months of searching, the Leather was paid for and ordered from Germany on Wednesday. The colour is called "Tanin Rot" and is used by Audi in the R8. Should be with Stuart and Paul at Ashley James auto trim, Westhoughton (01942 816612) the last week in Feb and should all be complete mid way through March. They're trimming: Full dashboard Handbrake trim tunnel Gear knob Handbrake handle Bonnet bra (subject to buying one and taking it apart) Service folder (material permitting) Thus far it's all going to plan (touch cloth... err sorry wood). Back from the paint shop at the end of Feb (latest). Start the rebuild on or before the 1st of March, with the dash and last bits of trim to be installed over the last week of March. I set a deadline of the end of March as I want to tax and drive her on the 1st of April. Just hope I don't end up an April fool !
  15. I've taken mine apart to clean/inspect them (foam was still good so left them) and found they came apart fairly easy. The hard part was getting the metal rods to catch on the metal tabs when putting back together. Best to take the seat out and put it on a bench. Remove the webbing from underneath. From there its a case of opening the tabs enough to remove the covers. From what I can remember, the fabric is bonded underneath the seat cushion. Let me know if you're having any specific issues and I'll try and relate my ramblings to pictures !
  16. I always do a quick shop around for my main car (moneysupermarket, confused etc) and then ring Adrian Flux back. I've pretty much been with them for 15 years because when the renewal price comes through (and yes it jumps by 20-30%) they guarantee to beat any quote. If I haven't been with AF then it's been with Performance direct (www.performancedirect.co.uk). When it came to the VR, AF could get close (£320 ish - next cheapest quote) but PD wiped the floor with everyone else at £200 ! That's with an agreed value on a fully comp classic car policy with my fiance' as a named driver. They're both professional outfits and I have no issues recomending them due to their high level of service.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Yes they are available from VW and they are about £250 each. I'm having a windows out spray job in a couple of weeks so I enquired with VW about three weeks ago. Safe to say when I picked myself up off the floor of the parts department I told them I'd try to remove them via the non destructive method. The bentley manual does show to cut the widow out via the outer rubber but after speaking to a few people in the know, it turns out that if your careful you can remove them without damaging them. Best to speak with a bodyshop that has removed them before.
  18. A big thank you to "87 Jetta 16v" for the pristine headlights. Great product and communication. Thanks Neal
  19. My old car ! The current owners on here. Think his name's "ken corrado"
  20. Bin the OE resto. I'm all over this. Love the way the bumper has been fitted and then "shaped" with either a jigsaw or blunt knife !
  21. Thanks to Pat McCrotch for collecting the tow bar and paying ontime like he said. Good show that man !
  22. Yet another "thanks a lot" and great service/communication from StueyB. Top drawer !
  23. Thats okay, hopefully there will be other users of the suspension set up on here. The KW Uk website are doing a set for £385. Maybe the bargain of the year thus far ?
  24. Thats exactly the kind of comment I was looking for. To be fair I wouldn't have expected any different. Though I'd like to find an image of them on a Corrado and at least hear from a couple of people who have them fitted. Anybody out there with them bolted on ? yup! They are superb.[/quote:1k78fexi] The V1s or the 40mm lowering package (springs/struts) ? or both ?
