  1. Hey all.. my first picture post I think. Completely standard when I got her, bar the wipers. 95k and not in bad nick at all (apart from the scuff on the rear O/S arch which was given to me as a present by some f**k of a BMW driver! Well.. just a quick update and some nice new piccys. She's now running Weitec coilies all round, all red rear lights (with proper orange flashing indicators!) and a debdaged grille. Some wheels might be on the cards at some point.. but at the moment.. I'm just loving it! Enjoy! (didn't have a macro lens.. sorry! :( ) Josh
  2. The sidelights are NOT 501 wedge fit, although many places will try to tell you that all sidelights are! They are either 223s or T4Ws (i think it's t4w.. or tw4 anyhow..) Same bulb, but with two different codes.
  3. Well.. It's been a few weeks now and the alarm is SPOT ON. Andy wouldn't even touch the fit until' we had sorted out WHY I had some burnt out wires going into the fuseboard. (sorted and made safe.) Complete pro and very friendly. Many thanks if you read this fella! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  4. I can't recommend Andy enough. Only today he fitted a Cobra cat 1 to my VR6. His attention to detail and professionalism are worthy of praise! He ripped out all the pikey shit that had been put in the car previously and did a really tidy job on the fresh install. What was really nice.. was that we found some burnt out wiring that he inspected and made safe before going any further with the fit. He then made sure everything was working with me before he explained how the alarm worked and then leaving. Top quality job and well worth the money.
  5. Well, Andy the trimwizard is popping over in the morning to alarm the VR. I'm sure all will go well. I'll post results later. Josh.
  6. I'm also thinking about a BMC. not because I think it's going to add 37bhp to my car.. but I genuinely do think that the pick up seems to be better with a decent induction kit. From having a read of the BMC bumf about the way the filter works, they say (as previously commented) that it's almost like a "supercharging" effect because the air is compressed slighty due to the shape of the internal cone and the vortexing effect. Maybe not, maybe so.. if you never try.. then you'll never know ;) Josh.
  7. After doing a search on the forum (or.. rather, a friend doing one) I found this picture. Soldered it onto the bulb holder exactly as shown. Many thanks to whomever this pic came from... can't remember off hand. Works perfectly :) Very simple. I reckon a 3yr old could solder better than me.. so if i can do it, anyone can. Josh
  8. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=64076&start=15 Maybe I posted in slightly the wrong thread... there are loads about this kinda thing however. I just fitted some amber LEDs and resistors for mine and they are now VERY orange... no doubt about it. :D
  9. Well, I bought mine off ebay, but believe they were spray tinted. The indicators DO flash red and not orange.... (unsurprisingly) I've literally just fitted these however and the problem is no more :) http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/produc ... 613&page=1 & http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/produc ... 656&page=1 Worthwhile mod I think..... people ARE stupid and might not realise you're indicating. Worried me slightly, anyway.
  10. Yeah, not bad thanks matey. I think i called your dad to ask him about what he thought of the car and the price before I bought it! She's had weitec coilies, debadged grille, all red rears etc. Just the small subtle stuff! I certainly wouldn't mind some wheels like yours though! Hopefully I'll catch up with you soon at one of the brands meets or something. :) Take it easy fella.
  11. Jesus Christ! Didn't realise how far you'd progressed with this one Ben! Those new wheels look absolutely stunning mate.. much better than the D90s I reckon. Since the old polo GT has gone.. I'm now also driving a 'Rado vr6.. strangely enough in classic green too! How's Josh's GT going.....? Josh (the guy that sold it to him ;) )
  12. I've been told by numerous people that the BMC CDA is extremely good, sounds good and actually keeps the air cool due to it being carbon... I've not really looked into it as yet.. but I'm tempted.....
  13. Fitted the Weitec Hicon Coilovers today - VERY impressed with the ride. Seems firm yet comfortable. Going to have her tracked up and camber adjusted in the morning. piccies soon!
  14. Hahah! Here comes another one! Hello fella! Nice to see you've joined the dark side.. Well done for going for a VR too! I'm loving mine. (you might have seen me kicking about on clubpolo with my mk3 GT for a while) Josh.
  15. A friend of mine (a fellow dubber) has recently started moving cars for people. Has a dedicated vehicle, really helpfull and friendly. He comes highly reccommended from lots of dubbers and just bought a corrado VR6 (after going out in my one for a bit!) http://www.thecarmover.co.uk/ Give Tom a call and see if he can help :) Best of luck, Josh
  16. Hmmm, ok! I've not really had it too far into the red at all due to not being sure how much more it'd do mileage wise. Might just get a jerry can, stick it in the boot and see how far it'll go! :| I guess the only problem is not wanting to draw too much shit through the fuel filter that's been sitting at the bottom of the tank for years!
  17. Are you sure about that fella? I wonder if mine has had it's tank replaced with a smaller one then. (94 vr6) I've only managed to get about £47 in it so far and would assume the rest (about 7litres) would be the reserve plus a bit. My deductions would therefore be that it has a 55ltr tank?! I wish it did have the 70ltr... although it would seriously hurt at the pump, doing big mileage would be nice and easy!
  18. Push down on the back end of your car on either side... if it bounces up and down quickly and continues to do so... you've probably got little oil left in your shocks and therefore you have no dampening! A normal suspension setup should return more slowly due to the viscosity of the oil in the damper/shock and then re-settle. It's fairly common not to notice this if it becomes more and more progressive over time, but you should get it sorted.. not going to be doing you any favours and can seriously mess about with the car's handling and safety!
  19. Weitec colies for my VR6 just arrived at my door today. Gotta love the G-werks! Now i've gotta fit the bloody things.. it's cold outside! Will update as soon as :)
  20. Nahh.. I guess that would have to have been either Mikey (pointy hair) or Jamal (welsh..ish) haha! Glad to hear they made a good impression though.. we're all off to the boat show @ Earls court next... last one of the season for us. (phew!)
  21. haha.. snap! I my figuers were quoted from the same journeys there and back :) Did you see the Canon stand near Project Kahn? That's where I was working for the 4days. I said hi to a couple of the guys over at the corrado stand too :)
  22. Tending to get about 33mpg on long motorway runs at the moment.. which i thought was pretty respectable for a VR. Everyone kept telling me to be seriously prepared for the fuel bills.. but to be honest.. my polo GT wouldn't have done much more than that.. maybe 38-40mpg tops. As for fuel.. i've managed to get £46.50 in it... but that's been the max.... It wasn't quite down through the red though. How many miles should I get once she's in the red zone.. if driven carefully?
  23. Hmmmm.... I didn't realise they came on aswell.. but then, Without being outside the car when the switch is flicked, I guess it's hard to notice ;) What I have noticed however, is that headlights are a bit rubbish, as you pointed out! I'll be on the search for a 'loom shortly!
  24. Is it just me.. or is it a bit daft using an H4 bulb only for dipped since it contains 2 filaments? Couldn't quite understand it when I got my rado! *Edit - just pondering about the standard headlights.. not your angel eyes fella.
  25. Hehe :) Thanks for all the nice comments. The polo took a lot of hard work to get to that stage, but I can't ever leave my cars alone, so the 'rado will get a few bits done here and there to smarten her up. It was indeed the car we talked about mister deviant.. I decided to go for this one in the end, even though it was a bit more than i originally wanted to pay. Plans are: Coilovers, debadge, all red rears and some nice wheels. Then... just minor bits and bobs i guess... Oh.. and paying for petrol ;) I've been getting 30odd mpg out of it on longer journeys so far.. so it isn't THAT bad! I recognise the name polo01 too.. a couple of us have been making a similar transition it would appear!
