Tom, I may just take you up on the offer. Do you have the original receipt by any chance...? If you did them I think we can call it a done deal. Anybody know the manufacturer..? -
As title really. Anyone know who manufactures these for VW...? VDO...? Trying to track down a reasonably priced replacement before giving in and paying VAG prices. Cheers in advance.

Very interested to hear from people on this one. My brother is a Saab tech so I can probably find out what Saab's they feature on and help track down suitable donor vehicles. Would be nice to come up with some form of plug and play solutions as I really hate the sight of "chopped-about" OEM looms.

Have you thought about having it partially painted? I seem to remember a rather special lupo a while back having a bonnet done like this. Could still see the weave through the paint but from a distance it looked body coloured. Just an idea.
-
Loving the bonnet Sam. Was hoping Josh would forget I had it when i borrowed it but alas. You just can't get bored of lifting it open with a couple of fingers.

As mentioned before its all about finding out the manufacturer of the part your buying. As far as i'm aware the £26 heater matrix is quite possibly made of cheese. However the £44 Valeo version GSF also offer is as far as i could see an identical item to the standard VAG part. Result. Answer to all this: Do some research on here or online to find actual manufacture of parts and search them down through all possibly sources until you find what you want as close to a price your happy with.

Black Pillar Trims, Full VR6 PAS Rack & Late Door Looms on eBay...
StueyB replied to StueyB's topic in Ebay and Misc
All finishing tomorrow and still @ 99p. -
I'll throw my name in the bucket then also. Have a flywheel currently attached to a spare VR engine which I'm willing to remove. Has done around 100k. £30 + courier cost.

Can confirm the internals of a Golf Mk3 Glass roof are the same. Frame is different and the glass panel although fits size wise sits too proud of the roof line and is likely to cause wind noise. Would imagine B4 Passat internals will be the same along with Seat Toledo.

I think if memory serves me correct 11'' + 9'' setup. Looking at the main bracket this would make sense.
-
Found the brackets under the bed of all places :) Pic for ya: 3 Brackets + bag of fixings. As far as I can see it hasn't been used. Can't for the life of me match a paypal payment based on postage date so drop me an offer for them and we'll go from there.

Cracking read: http://jalopnik.com/#!5781765/the-sultan-of-bruneis-rotting-supercar-collection

Haha, wasn't saying it couldn't be done but its far far easier with a second pair of hands.
-
Can be done with two competent humans. Three if you wanna be the boss and employ two minions. One man required for carbon bonnet removal/fittings.
-
Jake, When you remove the boss or your standard steering wheel you'll see a small copper/brass looking tab beneath. Looks like an elongated flat spade connector. In order for the boss or the steering wheel to be earthed, this tab must be touching the metal base ring of the wheel or the boss. Likely that this tab needs "massaging" slightly so it sits proud of the plastic cowling and touches the ring when the boss/wheel is slid on to the spline. This being the earth, all you should need in theory then is a live going to the horn push itself. However I have seen a couple of horn pushes which need an actual direct earth i.e. doesn't use the earth by touching the metal boss which is in turn earthed by the base ring. Just depends on design really. Hope that helps mate.

As far as i'm aware they don't have any common problems but it doesn't matter what my friend does with them i.e. custom loom setup / wire them as DG does, they just don't appear to function as intended. So i'm staying well clear coupled with the fact my VR runs cool as a cucumber anyway. Will be in touch mate, yours if you want them, just gotta remember where I have hidden them. ;)

Yep... :) Racking my brains at the mo. ---------- Post added at 12:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:14 PM ---------- Will dig them out later, check postage date as they are still in the original packaging and cross reference paypal payment as I think i've tracked it down.

I've found Mk3's in scrap yards to be a great source and have found the odd suitable connector on eGay.
-
Andy, I've got fan bracket setup which I bought a while back on the off chance. If I'm honest, i don't think i'm going to use them based on the problems a friend has had with his aftermarket fan setup. Not sure if they are DG ones but they look good quality and almost new if not new from memory. Can't remember what I paid but would simply want my money back on them. Let me know if you are interested.

Both my brother and a close friend have the Clarke Cordless Impact Wrenches. I would say they are great value for money and speed up almost any job. Dual batteries plus charging dock makes for easy use and they have made many a job easier. As already said they won't crack off the tightest of nuts but what they can help with is shocking it enough to loosen using a ratchet or breaker bar. Keeping the batteries topped up helps also so it has maximum torque. For the casual home mechanic its a great addition to your toolbox but if you plan on using it regularly or in a commercial environment I'd spend a little more. Hope that helps.

Got another setup here. Full late electric window door looms, control module and any relays that you figure out you need. £50 posted all in. Can have it ready to go tomorrow.

Full engine loom here also in excellent condition.
