Just to let you guys know the story. Two of the bolts where 18mm and two where 17mm. The air ducts to the brakes where screwed to the arch liner but not to the bumper so where not a problem and finally... There is indeed one bolt that goes through the arch liner to the bumper. I couldn't have done any of it without my irwin's though, they are the bees knees.

Oh yeah sure! Just give me 10mins, a torque wrench and some copper grease and I'll be done in a jiffy!
-
LOL too right! It's already two years and counting! But it's OK... i got the irvin extension set today in the post, ill be able to finish her off by next week now.... Maybe
-
Not imagining it... I got one of the bolts off and they are 18mm. They must be after market, the largest socket in the first irwin set goes up to 17mm and so wont fit. I got some new bolts from VW that should come tomorrow or Wednesday next week. The 13mm bolts look in good nick but i think I'll prop the engine anyway, it wont hurt. As for the torque of the engine stressing the bolts i don't intend to drive around without my front bumper, especially seeing as i don't have an MOT or Tax... and my radiator has no fluid in it either, and my suspension is shagged and my rear bumper is loose, and the rear engine mounts are fudged..... among other things.

MY god.. thats what i paid for my g60 with dodgy suspension and 160k on the clock!

D&G Auto Tech no longer doing G60 live maps........

yeah!... i was thinking of getting mine mapped there... BUMS -
Argh! i see! thanks guys! have ordered the irwin bolt expansion pack (i only have the first set) so will probably do this tonight
-
Well.... That's yet another thing to add to the list then.... :(

Thanks guys! Doesn't the front engine mount go into the front cross member? There are three bolts at the end of each cross member two 17/18 and one smaller one, don't you just take out the 2 18mm ones (where def 18mm on mine... Or at least two where) and leave the one in the middle. Why support the engine?

I'm having trouble getting the front bumper off my g60. Firstly, I'll need some new bolts as two have rounded off. They are the BIG 18mm ones that go through the front cross member. Am I right in thinking that Item 17 on the image bellow is the bolt in question? Also... What do I need to loosen to get the front bumper out? thanks in advance!

nothing fresh about my car!.. maybe my buzzer has broken then...
-
is that buzzer on later models? my early g60 makes no noise...
-
A MIJ exhaust is hand made and comes with a life time garantee for the first owner. £270 to the manifold and they can tune the sound for you while they're fitting it...
-
I'd second this, the custom made ones are welded around the car instead of being made to patterned parts... my polo had a stainless steel one custom made and it wasn't any more expensive than a jetex or similar and it looked and sounded brand new after 3 years of use. I suppose this way though you have to be lucky with the workmanship, an exhaust made by a wolly wont last very long...
-
that seems more reasonable, good luck with sale.
-
Do you have a buzzer on your oil warning light? Thats rockin! I would imagine the two are not directly related... Try to check the sensor on the gear box for the speedo first. you may have a loose wire or something. I assume you have plenty of oil in the car?

Bought the following parts today. sunroof grease - G 000 450 02 Non stretch crank bolt - N 040 106 4 (VAG) & Washer - 068 105 193 A (VAG) Fueltank straps - 1H0201654C Retaining clip for tank straps - 1912016616 x tank strap bolts- N 01024222 and a ava radiator... maybe cheep comparison to a VW one but I can afford little else I also need to get a few replacement bolts for the front and rear bumpers but they can wait.

Decided to rip the front of my car off... didn't spend long on it and came to the conclusion that I don't have the proper tools to be doing these things on my drive... First I had to rip off the drivers side light as the centre screw had seized and rounded off... Then i loosed the slam panel and tried to get the frount bumper off.... no joy. Of the four 18mm bolts that go through the front cross member 2 where rounded off and my Irwin bolt removers are not a complete set so i don't have the correct size to remove them as of yet. So with the bumper not coming off i tried to remove the skirt so I could repair it... It seems it's more than just cracked however, the damage goes as far as bending the fixings off the plastic. :( So I'm stuck until i can get the bumper off. This is all to try and remove the radiator... it desperately needs replacing.

Project Plum - The Plan of Attack

Ive got an early MFA stalk going for cheep if you wont one mate... not sure if a corrado part would fit the mk 2 thou... Edit: ok just read your previous post. Never mind! -
your a hard working boy arn't ya! good work on the body repairs, they look smooth as a babies bum. If you need to make up the base coat to sand down you can get primer with added filler you know. Fills holes and primes surfaces at the same time. And as for the welding i wouldn't worry! It's a fine art and not easy to pick up and you seem to have done all right considering!
