1. I popped my fuses in a ip65 rated enclosure kev, i agree completely with your sentiments.
2. Halfords where selling their "Super Brilliance" bulbs for buy one get one free a while ago. That's what I use and they're pretty white and very bright.
3. If you get him to mount the fuses and the relays in an enclosure it shouldn't really matter where you put them, so long as you can get to them if you need to change a fuse/relay. I've not put mine in yet but i will be mounting mine next to the battery, on the inside of the passenger wing. I'll have to take the battery out to get to them in the future but you need to disconnect the battery to work on the loom anyway so it's no big deal. Also, if you cut the plugs off the current loom and fit spade terminals to the existing wires (just to keep you lights working until the new loom is ready) Kurl2y can use these on the new loom, keeping the oem look and reducing the chance of corrosion on the terminals. This is what Kurl2y did for me.... If you read my thread though you'll note that he didn't manage to get the fuses in the same case as the relays took up to much room. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?44782-Alex-s-G60-Mistress-He-s-only-gone-and-bloody-bought-it/page14 Post number #139
4. I've not driven a g40 polo but I have driven a quick mk3 polo before (100bhp) and it was scary. Maybe he was being a bit harsh to the poor polo's, they handled alot better than similar cars of their age (105's, nova's etc) but they still had a high centre of gravity, the body roll used to scare the poop out of me! :D
5. Can you not just re-silver the reflectors btw? As in paint them silver?
6. Look up a forum member called "kur2y". He makes looms for corrado's and they are as good as the dg looms except you don't get the bright red enclosure for the relays. But I got him to make me a relay case from an enclosure I got from screwfix for a few quid. Check out my thread for pictures of the loom. Cost about £70 delivered
7. Jesus kris keep it down! Caths in the other room... We gotta keep our love hush hush till I break the news! Not sure if bvf is on the cards this year tbh. Was chatting to Yan about it and he asked of I'd be going down again but just at the moment it's looking unlikely I'll be free as the misses (not you kris) is wanting to go on holiday around the same time. Next year thou my car should be fixed and on the road so I'll def be down then! Hope you still have your c then mic :(
8. I bought mine on gumtree mate. I think most new C owners are blissfully unaware of the Corrado forum until they encounter a problem and seek advice.. and then they may just nip to a garage anyway. I'd post it about on various classifieds. It couldn't hurt.... Also, if i had a few grand i'd offer you 4 for it. It look lovely next to my old g60. Maybe if i win the lottery ---------- Post added at 04:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:03 PM ---------- although the polo neck may turn me off purchasing...
9. the vr6 is a 15 year old engine... things move on. Most modern performance hot hatches have forced induction anyway, There are many on here that could boast 280bhp after slapping a turbo on their vr's
10. Even just the uprated head light loom will give you improved beams. The existing lights work fine, it's just the voltage drop from the battery to the head light that produces such poor beam output. With up-rated loom and some new xeon bulbs you'll not need inpro lights. (i'm with you Sam, they look gash)
11. for a FWD car i'd agree. But with the quattro on that A1 it should fly and still be pretty stable. I see no reason why you can't have 1000bhp in a car that can handle the power properly. That's the nub... If the car CAN'T plant the poweron the floor or brake from high speeds then i completely agree that power is pointless. ---------- Post added at 01:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 PM ---------- pretty decent doesn't = fun btw
12. I dunno... They're not that much smaller than a C, I'm sure kev wouldn't like to go back to 280bhp. Give me a 300bhp G-wiz and THEN i might start asking questions.
13. Could have skipped the cleaning bit then...
14. Yeah, most of the starters between the g60, 16v, golf gti are all very similar, I think it should fit fine. SO... I'll just get http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Corrado_1.8_1991/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/hydraulic-clutches/?137440041&1&1fe1edcba737bcfd3592909167dfb561a3c884fc&CSCY this.... and check my existing Rear gear switch when i come to change them over SORTED! By the way, They just delivered it... :D
15. I've just recently replaced the starter motor and I've been told to retain my existing shift tower as the mk3 golf one is a little different. Weird it not having a gasket... would have thought it would need it. Mr Yan gave me some advice but he failed to mention his cleaning facility... I may drive up to Elgin and drop my box off with Mrs Yan and her laundry. I may need to replace the spedo-sensor, my speedo is a little wonky as i recall. I'll see into getting a new slave cylinder though (for clutch yeah?) Sorry for the silliness in questions but I'm great at hitting things with hammers but not much good at engineering as such :)
16. New (but not new) gearbox question.... This second hand ASD box ive got is low mileage but looks a little tatty. What would i need to get it looking ship shape? ALSO... I assume if i fit a new box I'll need to get a gearbox gasket?
17. hi there, this subject has been covered to death in the forum. If you check the search box in the top left hand side you could save alot of time. As for induction kits they may bring you a few extra horses but really they're just the first step in getting more air in the engine. Most tuning can be simplified into air intake, engine/coolant/air temperature and fuel intake (it's obviously more complex than that but that's the nub of it). Start with getting the air intake up by getting induction kits and exhaust systems then move on from there.
18. He's a dick, maybe someone should tell him?
19. The secret is not to but your exact address. Most people just either drop the icon on the map in a convenient place or they use a local landmarks post code. Anyone who puts their exact post code or details (like reg numbers) does so at THEIR risk
20. Things I've bought in the last few weeks... 21. WHO ever FIN 2982 is he ruined the map! and didn't put a blue marker on! ---------- Post added at 09:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 AM ---------- Also, Fangita's marker is half way across the north sea... :(
22. I got my parts yesterday! very well packaged and very prompt thank you!
23. I knew she lived in Cornwall but she's almost 2 hours away and he's and she (an so can't be trusted to lug gearboxes around :nono:) Ladies can't be trusted full stop if you ask me! Anywho, i just thought seeing as she's a delicate flower I'd get some burly farmer on here to lug it for me!
