  1. Good news mate, and testament to VW mechanical quality really! Milestone mileages (every 50,000 or 100,000 miles) are always entertaining - I always expect it to roll over and spontaneously go like a clown car, with the radiator erupting and the doors falling off :D

  2. Got lots of ideas on what i'd love to do to the car but they all involve lots of cash.. in a dream world a full engine rebuild, respray (including some strategic smoothing) and some desirable wheels.. Just need a small lottery win to make it happen!

  3. Welcome aboard mate! Lookin forward to pics of your new VR :)

If you've already had a Corrado before, at least you know what to expect with regards problems and stuff but plenty of stuff is available on the search to help you sort out your new C :)

  4. ah, but do you mean an actual "rat", or "rat-look"? ;) Proper rats have a sound chassis and a mental engine, without the bodywork being tarted up - rat-look I see as a cheap slow car that's been artificially aged and has "comedy" stickers etc...

Matt paint, however, when done right... ;)

Ah ok.. I can sort of get the "matt" rat look, if you know what I mean. I really don't get the sort of rat look I saw at Ultimate Dubs earlier in there where a bunch of guys had a banged up, mega stickered old polo and were basically walking around on the bonnet and roof to make it look even more bashed up. As I say.. I don't get that!

  5. Progress.. email from my flatmate this morning:

One of the solicitors had a look at your DVLA letter the other day, his initial impression is that it seems a bit odd, because it doesn't make sense for them to refuse to provide the data, and he realises that their systems must surely be capable of providing a number of VW Corrados.

He said he's going to talk to one of the solicitors that does F.O.I. stuff to get a better response.

  6. I know what you're saying Sam, but its not exactly like Audi doesn't have pedigree!

Audi are of course, formerly Auto Union - and they've been making racing cars since the 1930's! Audi have changed the face of many of the racing genres in which they've participated.. even in our more recent history we only have to look at what quattro did for rally, and how the R10 shocked so many people at Le Mans!

Its pedigree enough for me to be honest!

  7. I suffer from similar behaviour on my car (amongst other things) and have yet to get a concrete answer on exactly what I need to change... but the three things you've said have all been mentioned so its just been a case of trying to find the money to get work as expensive as that done!

  8. Welcome aboard :)

Glad to see another being saved from oblivion by an enthusiast :) Be sure to keep is posted on your progress and get busy with the search.. there is sooo much information to be found :)
