Fitted some Infinity Kappa 42.7i speakers into my dash to replace the original tweeters.. just can't comprehend the difference in quality and punch that these give over the original items, though looking at the size of the speaker unit on the old ones versus the new ones its no wonder!
Only problem is that the tweeter on the driver side sits a little too tall to put the OE grille back over the top (because the mounting depths / shape of the dash is different on each side.. nice one VW!).. hmm... going to need some sort of cunning solution here!

Games keep on coming out that keep tempting me towards an Xbox 360.. hmmmm....

I did actually post a thread up about this a while ago but it seems to have dropped off the forum :(
Good to see it in there. How does it sound (compared to a real one) and whats the graphics like overall? :)

One fella's experience isn't going to put me off what felt like a very solid, well made car to meI wish you the best of luck with that Alfa.. but its hardly like tales of their dire reliability are infrequent. The only person I know who's had an Alfa was my cousin - nice GTV 2.0 TS - was a lovely car in black with red leather but he got rid of it after relentless problems and repair costs.
As I say - good luck ;)

Anniversary with the missus (posh meal tomorrow night!) and fitting some Infinity Kappa speakers into the Rado which i'm hoping to go collect from City Link depot tomorrow! :)

Ditto! Its beautiful!
So what happened with the woman? Did she not get prosecuted and ordered to pay some costs or did they never find her or what?

Yeah.. does happen on the VR too. Some of these problems are strangely seasonal.. i'm sure my fuel leak problems were around this time of year too. Very weird.
-
Funny you should mention that.. I did have new wishbones (and bolts) fitted about a month or two ago.. could well be a culprit area then!
-
Furkz.. you don't need to buy the official VW pipes that are all precut! Just buy a bunch of the same grade stuff from a motor factors and cut to the correct lengths yourself. Will save you a packet! :)

just keeping my eye out for a late 8v fixed column. That makes two of us mate! :)
-
I did wonder that mate but the top mounts were new about.. er... 7 months ago?
Would like to get the car in the air and see if anything has any play in it on that side...
-
Haha.. I think not mate ;)

Mine leaked in the exact same place.. the U bend to the fuel rail. Started off as a bit of a niff then started to REALLY stink.. opened the bonnet to see fuel dripping out of that split and sizzling on the exhaust manifold. Talk about close miss.. could easily result in an engine bay fire.
Furkz.. fairly pricey from VW for the correct bit. I have one here somewhere that I never needed to fit in the end (got fixed at Stealth on a routine visit but i'd already bought the bit) but no easy way to get it to you! Think it cost about £8-£10?

Bumping this up as i'm gradually getting this more and more on my passenger side of my car.. seemingly worse tonight after hitting a few pants potholes in the past few days. Unfortunately its the passenger side that keeps taking the brunt and has gotten to the point now where even the smallest hole in the road will cause an almighty THUMP from that side, yet hitting the same sorts of holes with the driver side makes barely any noise at all. Why the hell could one side be more noisy than the other? I don't seem to be getting any other symptoms (well, my handling is progressively getting worse but has been for a while) but have noticed more recently that my steering seems to pop and lightly clunk up through the column and wheel as I turn the car when parking for example..?
Its probably just psychological but i'm convinced that side does not feel right now either. Any thoughts before I go crawling over to Stealth for Vince to have a look?
Please help me get to the bottom of my steering / suspension issues! TIA! :)

Are they Maybach wheels Jay?! Think they look pretty extreme but seem to work! :)

You gotta try your luck at your local VW dealer and see how happy they are with you coming in for random bits and pieces. Both of my most local VW dealers (coventry and leamington) are both pretty good, with the Coventry one being best.
Alternatively there are some other good suppliers including Genuine Parts Company (http://www.gpcvwaudi.com - phone them, using the number off the site!) - they only do trim stuff though, not mechanical bits. AVS are good also (http://www.vwspares.co.uk) - they mostly do pattern parts but seem to be of good quality, and some stuff is OE grade.
Hope that helps a bit :)

That is absolutely brilliant! I love the filling up the engine with golden syrup.. reminds me of your "fruit shoot" coolant Kev!! :)

What a surprise. Sigh.. i'd hate to be put in this situation, but at the end of the day he went into the back of you. You almost always win in those situations mate, so unless he is the most convincing liar in the world, I think you'll still win this one - as you deserve to!
-
Yeah.. sounds about right mate.

I did a 3 stage on mine a few months ago and was thrilled with the results. I don't think I gave the carnuba long enough to set as i'm finding fade on my flash red paint again, but immediately after it was done the colour was deep and glossy.
Instead of the meguiars polish however (stage2) I used the Autoglym SRP. I find the results far more impressive on my flash red paint, but then different polishes seem to work better on different paints.. never got pleasing results on my green Corrado with the AG stuff?
Well worth doing though.. even if it does leave you with a seriously dead arm for a day or two! :)

With the exchange rate as it is, its mighty tempting.
Saw a place doing brand new gearboxes for 16v'ers for $1,200.. so like £600. Shame that shipping and import duty would nail you!

Stuart - Herts Insurance Consultants.. look for posts from martinb on here - he has his phone number, etc in his sig :)

Anyone tried HIC? Try and speak to MartinB who posts on here.. I got a great quote for my modded 2.0 16v - I find the mainstream companies a nightmare to deal with when it comes to modifications!
