  1. fit polished little studs to show mhp and rpm but not numbers . orange studs for rev limit .

Thats certainly different! Will that get through the MOT ok?!

  2. Hi.. this has been discussed a lot of times so am going to lock this up.

Would suggest hitting the search (up on the top right) with +audi +seats - I just did that and got a whole bunch of stuff back, including info on wiring up the heating elements..

    Cheers.

  3. Well the G60 only came with 15" wheels.. in fact the Jet edition G60 came with Estoril wheels, the same as you get on the 2.0 16v... so i'd say its a fairly safe bet that they'll fit ;)

  4. I think (though not 100% sure) there are two key areas the VR.

One is cooling.. I think as part of the comprimise for making it 2.9 one or two of the waterways are a little narrower than they ideally should be (around cylinder 6 I think?) and its very common for them to overheat in that area and eventually go pop around there.

Seconds is oil. The VR engine does use oil (and in some cases can use rather a lot - as per the handbook!) and i've heard of a few situations where people have checked their oil and been shocked to see how little was in there - any more negligent and it could have been a siezed engine!

  5. I've always said that I felt the Corrado looked like the De Lorean! I think it does even more so than the Scirocco MK2!

Nice job on that though - its classic. Dig the heater fan motor on the roof and the "NO FLUX CAPACITOR LEFT IN THIS CAR OVERNIGHT" sticker.. brilliant!!!

What do people think? I know full well half the VW boys out there would be ready to lynch us for this! Frankly though its too cool for school!

    On the contrary! Its superb!

  6. Worth mentioning.. your thermo switch might have been hacked like mine (not sure whats going on with it) so that the plastic surround that will make sure you can only plug it in one way has been removed meaning you can plug it on two ways.. one will be right and one will be upside down.

Just changed my rad this weekend and we put the connector on and I found my temps were getting much higher but then the fan would come on sounding like a rocket to cool it down. Left it like this a few days thinking it didn't sound right and disconnected the plug and put it on the other way round.. now the fan is coming on much earlier but at a much lower speed and keeping the temps more normal...

    Worth checking the plug!

  7. Thats a very good price for a VR.. but go over that history with a fine tooth comb.

And the "earlier than K reg" thing is complete boswellox. The earlier 4 cylinder engines are, I would argue, more reliable.. but none are specifically stronger than the others!

  8. Hm... have seen them cheaper but thats not terrible considering that the carriers alone are £100 or more from VW!

I'd say go for it. I have them fitted to my 2.0 16v and they are definately better than standard 2.0 16v brakes! :)

  9. VR's are different compared to the 4 cylinders in many ways. For me its just the guttsy, deep V6 note.. it just feels ready to rumble even when you just lightly bury the throttle. I'm used to throttle being a droning noise on the 4 pots.. it is quite quite different on the 6 cylinder :)

Driven a few supercharged VR's now and they don't feel much different until the revs start to climb.. then its genuinely scary!

  10. Can only echo the positive comments for Autometer stuff.. my old G60 had an autometer boost gauge - was nice and subtle, and looked like a quality piece of kit. The fascia and night time lighting matched the Corrado's perfectly.

  11. Are the fins on the VAG one as sharp as they are on the GSF ones? Both Eric and I sliced our fingers to schitt fitting it the other weekend! It was like every fin was a little razor blade.. :|

  12. Well I definately don't plan to stick with the GSF one - thinking a VAG rad, with some nice samco pipes are in order but its ticking over for now and keeping the car cool so will do for now!

  13. I think the radiator on a VR is a totally different story. Given the different dimensions, the outlets will be in different places so sure the hoses won't line up, etc..? Plus the VR has a different twin fan assembly.. again you aint gonna bring that over without a lot of headaches.

Besides, the radiator on the 2.0 16v does the job pretty well? A new rad and a fresh change of G12+ should see it keeping the system adequately cool. Even in the warm weather we've had lately, i've not managed to get my rad fan to come at anything more than the lowest "casual" speed setting! The temp barely goes over the mid point on the coolant temp gauge.

  14. You may want to check into the Jetta and Passat forums on VW Vortex as a number of folks on there have done this very mod - not sure if they've managed to actually make it activate at speed but i've seen more than one example of those cars with a Corrado active spoiler fitted!

  15. Yeah - done it past year or so now for two lots of tax. Works great. Need the code that comes through on your renewal letter or just stick in a number from your logbook and your number plate (its all explained on the site) then follow the instructions - 6/12 months, payment details - and off it goes. Turns up about 4 days later. Beats going down and standing in line at the post office!
