er yeah the ball will slot into the boot lifter itself? i'll send you a pic when i get home £4 inc post sound alright ? also have you sold any of the dash air vents ? centre console ones (to control the direction of air) do you have the original steering wheel still ? and original gear knob + gaiter? handbrake handle cover ? what is thier condition? lol sory for all the questions cheers

headunit wise everyone has their own prefference on brands but i prefer sony especially the xplod stuff which is so user friendly when setting up. mine is this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CDX-GT650UI-Direct-Drive-Front/dp/B0033BWUQ0/ref=pd_cp_ce_0 and its got USB dock which is great for charging ipods and phones ect,AUX port,sub input basicly everything except for bluetooth but i doubt anyone ever really uses that. my radio is pretty shocking also may just be a loose connection to you your headunit ?

ahh finally spotted someone on the forum i could hardly beleive how many speed bumps there were, must have been about 7 in a row it was a nightmare lol yeah i came off the A14 as i was overheating badly and literally just after i saw you i pulled over as my oil temps were going through the roof.......not good.

spotted a red one just off the dry draton A14 turn just before i broke down lol

little update....... i went to vindis today 535827550A -gas boot strut x2 £68.42 533827345C-ball pin (bolt) x2 £10.04 both prices not inc vat so total of £94.15 also the ball joint (bolt) is on back order and there is no date in which they can be obtained ...... and there is a small pin inbetween the bolt and car which is now obsolete gonna start going down the breakers route i think cheers

i think i will try the dealer for some new lifters and the bolt's as my existing ones in the pic are a bit past the best and dont open or close very well.plus they look really tatty. is this a fairly common thing for these lifters? or just the age ? they are probs the originals so they did last 20 years which is pretty good. cheers

Hi all I went to open my boot today and as i was closing it i heard a crack and then saw the drives side boot lifter had sheered away from its bolt.... its a sunday so i cant do anything about this today but im wondering if my local vindis dealer will have the boot lifters but more importantly will they have the bolt in stock ? i have seen the lifters on ebay ect but are these okay to use ? dont mind the extra moey for originals tbh. (this has probably been asked before but i couldnt find anything on a search) cheers

tappets arnt anything so seriously worry about they just may be a bit noisey from a cold start as they are dry and need the oil pump to get some oil up there. no idea of cost tbh but it would be labour fittment that would be allot unless your pretty handy with a spanner and can do it yourself. 2004? thats quite a while mate it will almost deffo need a rebuild by either G-werks or JMR (worst case it could be beyond repair then its new charger time) one sign of charger wear is when it starts leaking oil into the boost pipes which is on the right side(outlet) of the charger. whats the millage on the car in question? 164 after a remap? well if the guy is slightly clued up on G60's it would have a smaller pully to go with this remap ( the car came as stock with around 160 BHP) with a remap and smaller pully should be around 180 mark but depends on the condition of alot of parts but mainly the charger. after what i went through with my charger (no paperwork gamble ) i would probably stay clear of this car unless the seller is willing to agree somthing about the charger getting a rebuild or at the very least just checked over only take the word of JMR and G-werks on its condition as these guys know their stuff.

yeah i would deffo insist that when you go see it that its from a cold start incase the tappets are on their way out.(the exhaust may be quite rattly also) mine can be a bit of a bugger from cold even with a new starter motor but always starts second time though. where was the oil collecting you are you feeling around the oil return line which is a black line on the left underside? it could be a power steering fluid leak which has a pipe below the charger? black oil ?G60's do really need clean oil also i do an oil + filter change every 3-4K I would take the BHP figures with a pinch of salt tbh unless there is a dyno printout recently. what mods has the car got if you can remember? the best way to check on the charger health is a reading from the inlet manifold via a boost-vac gauge. any service history on the charger? i brought mine without paperwork and ......well i needed to buy a whole new charger. if you do buy allow for a rebuild around 400 500 . is it on pistoheads? autotrader?

well i got my charger from darren and i must say im seriously impressed with the work that was undertaken on it . just looking over it i can see the amount of care that has gone into it ..... never doubted their work for a second. really happy with it...(it sounds bannanas)

Right i have been keeping an eye on this thread for some time now hoping that it wouldnt come to this...... but here we go Basicly i had allot of trouble trying to find a G-ladder after mine was diagnosed kaput...... either people just wouldnt get back to me after i ask some fairly standard questions or the unit was already sold ......so reluctantly i phoned G-werks and allegedly they have one in stock but it needed a rebuild...... so i asked for them to take it to stage four while it was getting done and paid for it right then and there over the phone on the 15th of june and was told that the work would begin that week. After phoning god knows how many times and gettign fobbed off with various excuses left right and centre i finally get told last week that it was finished and posted on tuesday 5th july(bearing in mind that i had paid £40 post which is ridiculus i know) so i phoned them on thursday asking for a tracking number to see what is taking so long and low and behold its not even been posted ......... im now assured by darren that it will be with me for this weekend just gone and guess what i still havnt received it (i was also told it was couriered by APC who i phoned and they had no record of any deliverys to me funny that.....) so im getting seriously sick of this and i phoned today asking darren to give me a tracking number to which i am told that he has given my mobile to the Couriered ?? ...... still hasnt arrived today and now i have no time for this anymore........ seriously when you pay for a service and you recieve no service why should i pay a penny... thought i would share this so no one is under any illusion about these guys. (my car has now been off the road for over 5 weeks)

I went to my local VW dealer to get the rear sheilds for minea month ago and they cost around £ 15.00 inc vat(each side) and that ebay chubnut9999 guy is selling them for a little bit more plus post.
