  1. try doing these two before you try anything else

Blue temp water senser £20 + ECU vac hose £5

may also be that your drive belt is slipping?

    took this from fortitude

"Well you need to start with the basics. Good tune up parts, Bosch W6DPO plugs good Bosch cap and rotor, plug wires, fuel filter, correct timing procedure, vac line replacement not just check them, ecu vac line 1M, replace ground wires and wires for the battery, alternator, starer and ecu...ect after all these cars are near 24 years old. Check for boost leaks they can cause the funk mode. Run the correct Bosch O2 sensor, check or replace your knock sensor, if the wire to it is rubbed through replace it. Did you check to see if your cam timing slipped? Replace the #30 ecu power control relay."

"Also, hopefully this one hans't been covered yet....

If your G60 runs fine one moment, then misses like crazy, check the condition of the hall switch on the distributor, lots of times it's cracked at the plug in point. One of the most common (at least it seems like it to me) probs with older G60's, yet one of the easiest to find if you have an idea that this can happen.

The engine bay of a G60 gets REALLY hot and over time weakens stuff. This seems especially true of this part in particular."

    hope this helps bro

  2. well Riley you were right

It was the crankshaft pully bolt :( it jumped twelve teeth and the cam is 90 deg out :(

my keyway has a nick out on it and as it stands I have no idea the state of my valves pistons etc. but its not really looking good for me, probably new engine time

im absolutely devistated this car has fought me every step of the way and now this.......

  3. so ive just ordered a new ECU hose from OCD so i'll try that and hope

I don't think it will be the hall sender as I have only just had my distributor (Whole unit bosch) with its new hall sender housed on it

if its not the ECU hose im out of ideas :( so i'll get it down to my garage and get them to look into the crankshaft pully and probably get it done with a fresh cambelt aswell even if its not the actual issue just for piece of mind

this is gay I was planning a road trip lol

  4. Hello all sorry for the long post lol

bit annoyed im having to do this, mine has been pretty reliable running recently and after no advisories on its mot I thought I was in for a good year:(

so on Friday I drove to work in the morning and everything was behaving as normal on the drive home that evening it felt a little off but I put that down to being crawling in traffic and getting heat soaked decided to leave it overnight

Went for a 3 mile dive up to BnQ for some paint and essentially I had no power on boost my inlet boost gauge was reading boost over 12 psi easily but the car was just not on boost not even slightly so I limped back home and the exhaust was poping on deceleration (overfueling?) and the idle when stopped for lights ect was awefull ... it was getting slower and slower until eventually as I literally turned into my street it totally gave up and stalled and ive not been able to get it started since

Now I read a little into I and I tried swapping over the CO2 POT from another g60 to no success

I have spark at the plugs its only had the magnecore leads coil and completely new bosch distributor within the last three months

I can hear my fuel pump come on when ignition is engaged I evan have fuel up to the fuel line in the pic below? so the pump is working

I have checked my ECU huse and while it doesn't look too clever its not split or in a bad way

My fuel pump relay is new from VW two years ago

Blue temp sensor from VW two years ago

where should I turn my attention too next? blocked fuel injectors ? dodgey FPR?

  5. Well today was great a huge corrado turn out and some ridiculously nice ones !every corrado there was totally different!

good to meet everyone wish i could have stayed longer but I did spend most of my time laughing at the crazy rat rod polo ? with a bar in the boot a pool que for a shifter and pub floor carpets and AstroTurf on the roof lol (don't have a picture yet)

I didn't take many photos but i'll get my mate to send me some of the 200 he took lol

here is a few I got with a shameless one of mine and my mates new G60 when we got back

  6. It's actually one of my mates from years back in college that's the new owner of this he drove my g60 and that was it lol we both live in the same town and I've had my g60 for four years now so it will be very well looked after I'm looking forward to having another g60 to work on and can recommend a brilliant garage I go to for work

  7. replace the rotor arm distributor they not expensive and can cause these symptoms I recently replaced the entire ignition system on mine as it was all getting on a bit.

also try replacing the blue water temp sensor located on the front of the block £21 ish from VW

could also be that you've flooded the cylinders from trying to start it often so you may find it starts when the fuel dries up tomorrow?

  8. im not sure you can get an original down pipe from VW anymore ?

it could be that the manifold has a crack in it? also is it standard because a Stainless Steel one WILL be louder than std

mine is fairly loud aswell and its a 3 box system with decat but again stainless steel will be louder than std as they all have a larger bore ect

its quite hard to check but I've seen an old method of getting the car totally out the wind and getting a piece of paper behind the block while its running to check for any leaks ?

  9. yeah I found a guide on what the gaps of the springs should be 57 mm from spacer to the top and it worked first time ....so far so good

I got them from ebay a guy called :urquattrob

he has had a few pairs up recently(none at the moment) even some polished chrome ones might be worth messaging him ?

  10. DONE !!!!! cheers guys got it done in the end after I removed the springs I could then get a 6 mm spanner on the section small section with the blue arrow pic .... it was an absolute feck to do but with some penetrating fluid and some muscle I got them free

I think it was a mixture of me being a bit special and them being screwed up so bloomin tight.

quite happy with how they look so here is some pics of them on the car......really need to get rid of my manky bonnet insulation lol

    cheers

  11. Sean and clumpy I cant work out what your saying lol side to side what ? please humour me guys I bloody cant do it reading text never makes sense

(I Have removed the spring on the old unit now so I am fully committed)

okay so the red arrow is where the thread is set in the plastic. this is what im trying to unscrew!!!!!!!. but cant get it to turn even slightly

the blue arrow is what im guessing you guys were hinting at in order to get to thing to unscrew but im still having no luck ?

  12. I would give Jmr a call and see what they suggest? Or jabbasport?

You could also check out bar-tek? They do loads of g60 parts

Have you done a compression test on your block?

  13. Hi all

Just looking for some input on these refurbished pin/springs that I got and im looking to remove the old units (which are disgusting) but they appear to be set in plastic ? the thread doesn't actually move when I turn the pentagonal frame ?

probably a really simple job but I don't want to break anything and have my bonnet flying around lol

    pic attached

    anyone replaced these ?

  14. You can use a VW Passat for this no idea what year ect! moonroof conversion seems to sping to mind ??? im sure its been done loads , mine doesn't have its original colour coded sunroof

  15. I though I should add that the old mirrors cracked while I was trying to be carful and remove them but I really cant see another way around it ? so I just went animal on it and smashed them while removing it lol

  16. I did this last month and basically I just peeled the old glass mirror faces off using a very thin flat head screw driver its not pretty or easy to start but once you've got it under and wiggling around you'll then reveal the picture on the right which is the heated strips , I then just peeled off the layer of film on the back of the DDI mirrors and then stuck the glass faces into the surround ,didn't use any glue sounds easy lol

In the pic on the left you can see how one of the spade terminals broke(heated mirrors) , this is actually part a complete piece of metal on. so really try to be careful when removing the electric window connectors from the terminals as I had to solder a piece of metal in its place after lots of sanding down etc.

On the picture to the left you'll see an outline of a thin strip....well I didn't manage to save it with the glass face it all came off ???? don't even know if its needed?

my heated mirrors work so far no hassle at all and the reduced glare in the sun is realy great.

lemme know how you get on mate and good luck
