excellent news :)
reading swompy's thread DG are trialling a modified map on his car, gotta be worth considering whilst you're there too.
-
Lights do look good. Id keep the 288's on, I asked a while ago about going to 312's and it wasnt really worth it from what I remember. You will then still be able to run the standard wheels if you want.cheers, yeh remember that thread, not much difference between them it seems, makes sense for wheel flexibility as you say.
close up pic of the pinstriped bits of the rears \/

nice work, what did you get done on the head then?
-
Actually a kr could use the fifth injector like the piggyback chip k-star did.
Sorry for littering your thread
-
Yeh kr doesn't have facility to alter fueling electronically, only timing, be easy swapping parts over though, they're pretty similar otherwise, fair play to dg as thats a real good develoment. Look forward to the RR results :)
-
That's great, that's the first time I've heard of someone chipping a valver without a piggyback chip, nice one :)
-
Still interested in going to one though and travelling is not a problem.hopefully get to that mounstewart thing or this months meet if your about then.
Did you do the rear lights yourself? I see that you pin striped the indicators. Was in a pain doing the striping? What tint spray did you use?thanks for comments, yeh i pinstriped them, as MOT's over here are non compromising government run affairs :hitler: they properly flash orange with standard bulbs though, downside is they are noticeable.
i just cut 4mm strips of masking tape and made sure they were properly stuck down over the 'lens' lines, bit fiddly and more time consuming but only an hour or so, i just used the savage spray, i'll get a close up pic later to show where i masked to.

cheers Dan, guage power is wired to the switched live glovebox light, i've two sender wires ready for routing through the passenger footwell when i get the senders, the guage lights are piggybacked off a 9v supply to the ashtray light but are way too dim with new bulbs i got, so am going to investigate LED's.
yeh its a miltek courtesy of -Neil- off here, fits pretty good in the gap, but I think I have a slight knock somewhere :/ another 2nd hand item, anyone get the impression i'm a cheapskate yet
did you make it to the last gtini meet? read there's good one planned for mountstewart soon which I'd like to get to, long way from your neck of woods though!
-
this is a gorgeous looking car, plenty of inspiration there, what tint is that on the headlights?
what did you get your son in the end, am liking the caddy?
-
I also managed to pull a muscle in my neck/right shoulder areaman i've had this before, i couldn't move my head at all either, even lying in bed hurts.
i'm a fan of the dark speedlines, but definitely try different rings or spacers next year, as the green/ gold combo is sweet looking too 8)
-
Cool man 8) Look forward to seeing the tints and dark rims on a black rado! That'll look well mean :DMeant to ask how long u've had this one?
had this one nearly a year, am taking my time!
yeh aim is kinda stealthy looking without being lary, don't want people trying to score gear off me
-
cheers, yeh really cosey fit, they're just bedding in now and the difference is waaayyy better, plan is to got 312 when the vento cups go on.
definitely following your lead with the headlight tints and dark wheels sometime soon 8)
-
/\ cheers.
slow progress lately, but managed a few little jobs;
- dewipered the rear and painted the rear vw badge.
- got the guages 95% wired in, just need the senders and new bulbs.
spent afternoon lying on my back in the peeing rain grinding the OEM exhaust system off the car, then getting the new mid and back box fitted, also figured i'd clean the shields whilst i was scrabbing around on the floor :)
-
/\ that sounds like the best job on here by a country mile, money definitely isn't everything :)
-
at the weekend or days off at every opportunity over the summer months, preferably when dry, won't go out in torrential rain.
mine will be off road for the winter so i can take my time with the bigger jobs.
-
awesome, get some vids up of this running please.
-
yes they are, vr6 are larger, but post above referencing part nr is rear bush of wishbone's, not the beam.
-
/\ yep as above get the thermo plate for sure, make sure you mount it the correct way round too - don't ask me which way that is because i've forgotten.
-
i found i had to modify mine a little when fitting, genuine vag items to.
a trick advised by riley off here, use plusgas and a little gentle persuasion from an appropriately sized socket and hammer to remove the seized abs sensors.
-
 the villa and wheels!
-
should I put my kids through Uni'?!you have to put them through creche first :)
-
leonards is best suggestion so far :)
-
i'd put most the money aside, continue to amass the most deposit possible whilst keeping a fun car in the garage - then buy a house in 18 - 24 months time!
i sold my house 18 months ago, at the time everyone who knew us was aghast, blinded by the bricks and mortar mantra.
being a landlord isn't all its cracked up to be either, void periods, maintenance and repair mean a lot of amatuer landlords run their rental property at a monthly loss, then add the hassle factor, and with prices dropping there isn't even a capital appreciation argument!
-
there you go nr 6 on that picture is the large saucer i'm talking about :) but you only run that on the standard set up i think.
the thing i found when putting mine on is the turny bearing thing didn't sit on the plastic spring plate very well, in fact there was a gap between it and the top mount which kinda defeats the purpose, maybe it doesn't make a difference!
