can't see why it wouldn't fit a 9a.
only issues i've ever heard of are;
1. manifold gets close to clutch cables, wrap/ shield, one or both
2. manifold rubs against the bulkhead, BUT, iirc that was on a car with a solid front engine mount, you can imagine a tiny variation in the front mount on the tilt of the block and consequently it creates a large arc of movement at the bulkhead.

I got into it and it was having random electrical problemsthat bit usually isn't a dream :)

lug holds cam pulley in position on the cam, danger is pulley will slip on end of cam otherwise.
if you're in a spot without it, then i can send it now and you can pay me when you have funds.
-
ok just to be certain, the cam gear (chain side) has a half moon woodruff key, the cam pulley (belt side) has a locating lug, the pulley lug is known to shear, never heard of a woodruff key shearing, you need both to ensure correct timing of course.
if its just the woodruff key then you can have for free if you cover postage, if its the pulley then you can have that for £7 plus p&p, and because I can't be bothered detatching the cam you can have that for free

i got some from local dealer in may, i dunno if they ordered me the wrong part, but i had to notch the edge slightly to take the abs sensor bolt, read someone else on here had to do the same with theirs as well.
think they were about £13 ea

ah man after all your effort i hope you get it sorted.
i don't get the weight issue tho, four seaters have a limited weight band in Norway

painted and baked 1 and a half 288 calipers and carriers :) reassembled one side with new seals and pads, just need replacement caliper to turn up now...
then fitted the rear H&R ARB.
-
yeh a replacement it will be.
giving the seller the benefit of the doubt, the rubber tube that accomodates the sliding bolt inside the hole does cover the crack, so you'd have to strip them to notice, which is worrying as who knows what may have happened if someone had just stuck them straight on.
also makes you wonder what happened to the donor car, assume must have hit something.
-
yeh you're right, and me and this seller had a fall out already, as he didnt send for a week after i payed, now this!
have sent him the pic below, half of me wonders whether to try and weld it up, but brakes aren't something i want to compromise on.

started stripping and cleaning my ebay special 288calipers, found one of them is crash damaged and not usable... not amused :mad2:
still, the other one has come up well :D
-
yeh hope so, have set of 288's calipers arrived now, hope to get them refurbed and on this weekend.
paintwork and wheels won't be touched for august, but hey i just want it back on the road :)
-
stripped a cheapo rear beam i won on ebay, not very exciting? ... it came attached to a H&R anti roll bar!
-
i always used a specialist VW garage on the sowton industrial estate in exeter, sorry forgot name, but if they're still there then they're located on the road that splits the bentley and porker showrooms as you leave the industrial estate on the right.
they helped me out loads of times, they have a retrimming centre as well, whenever i went there was a selection of mk1's and 2's around for servicing.

liking the small details and the rears a lot, if i'd seen the way you'd done yours before then i'd have copied them

saw pics of a scirroco one and looked superb.
-
