    when you say you have changed the 'external pump filter' do you mean the filter and/ or the pump, can you hear the pump whining, can you feel the lift pump whining in the tank?

     

    the air flap should move freely, defo more than few mm. bear in mind the metering head has a control pressure supply to the plunger, that's why there's three supply pipes to the metering head, this pressure is controlled by an bimetallic temp sensor on the block (called the warm up reg (WUR) i.e. leans of mixture) if that pressure is too high it can prevent the air flap rising.

    yep i've had a metering head apart, its very simple but high machine tolerance stuff, they normally don't go too far wrong its all the associated sensor gubbins that causes issues mostly, or unknowing adjustments to idle and mixture screws.

     

    simplistically a plunger with a rebate moves between two plenums - one supply, one distrbution and depending upon the height of the plunger and the degree to which the rebate sits between the two plenums determines the fuel flow to the injectors. the plunger is controlled by the air flow plate which sits in the intake tract after the filter.

    8 years is a long time to be stood, my valvers didn't like standing for 2+wks.

     

    injectors are hydraulic activated at very high pressure, they're fully mechanical also so high tolerance machining means needle valve could be seized. there's a plunger in the metering head which could stick also. injectors just pull out (with force) best to do when warm which gives you an issue...

     

    there's a heap of pneumatic, hydraulic and electromagnetic sensors all over the KR engine that can give rise to starting problems - to the point of web based diagnosis being very difficult i'm afraid.

     

    get yourself a mechanical fuel pressure guage and a book called 'how to tune and modify bosch fuel injection' or similarly titled book, only way i learnt :)

    i take the same back road from my in laws house to the coast whenever i'm up there and a swells running, about a year ago i noticed a drilling rig and a few portacabins in a field near a small hamlet, no site signage or hint as to what they were doing, there was also a LOT of cabling running up and down the nearby roads to trucks with low slung nose box things and what i guessed were some sort of seismic monitors. being a nosey bugger i did some googling and found out it was a test site for fracking, i read the pros and cons and settled with same view as Kev, that we basically need the energy and the risks seem minimal.

     

    its been a long while but i drove the same road at the weekend, for about 500m in each direction i'd say 1 out 5 trees are dead, and from what i've read mass tree loss is to be expected - if that's the damage signs on the surface, than what the hell is the damage beneath it. its caused me to question my views, and i'm still not decided, but if i lived anywhere near that site i'd be buying bottled water that's for sure.

    Problem getting second hand is they are a real bugger to remove, invariably they deform and can't be 100% corrected, I've tried and failed!

     

    This is going to be one of those parts that needs group buy special runs, I feel like I'm overdue doing one of these on behalf of the forum but time ain't on my side at the moment :/

    my second maxi cosi is 4yrs old but similar to the current Priori XP model

     

    i have one of the maxi cosi axis rotating seats in my daily, they're a premium but worth it i think, and given the height a kiddy seat is on the front seat of a rado would be a good option i think.
