  1. Honestly, I can't give you an answer on those questions, I'll have to ask. I'm no expert in this field so don't want to get the facts wrong. He mainly does motorbike parts and has been doing them for years, I've seen the quality and they are very good. As far as I'm aware he requires a good original part to mould from. The original part has to be prepped before mould and has to be as glossy as possible apparently otherwise the mould could contain errors which'll show in the final product. He said he spends days and days prepping the originals before he moulds from them. But I will ask the questions and let you know. It's nice to have someone like you interested so we know that they are bring done properly. No problem. What's the condition of the spoiler? I have a spoiler but it's covered in gouges so it'll need prepping first.
  2. Funny you should say that, I just removed my centre console tonight and I thought exactly the same thing. It won't be that cheap to reproduce though. It's intricate and delicate. I'd need an example as close to perfect to mould from, which as you know is almost impossible to find and I can almost guarantee that the original will get damaged in the process too. Then replicating the texture might be a ball ache too. Honestly, the first one off the mould/prototype will probably cost well over £350 to make. Then each one after that will cost well over £100 to reproduce I'd say. I will look into it, but I don't think it'll be cost effective. I don't think a carbon fibre splitter will shatter as such, break or snap maybe, but it won't shatter. Believe it or not carbon fibre can be bent to a certain degree. I think the bumper will break before the splitter did in all honesty. It would however scuff. Late wings or early wings? I'll get on it. I did discuss a bonnet with him as I will eventually want a carbon one for my car. He mentioned using a Carbon Fibre bonnet with Kevlar layers to strengthen it, so I know it can be done. Any reason you want Kevlar over carbon? Also, late bonnet and wings or early? Standard size? Yeah, I thought this too. I'll be getting a rear wing done and fitted to my car before I take any serious orders. I'll be giving him the thumbs up in the next few weeks so the product can be seen. :thumbleft: It shouldn't take more than a few weeks once the original part is ready for the mould. I just thought I'd test the water and see what people would want, then I can be looking out for good condition original parts to mould from.
  3. Hello Everyone, I'm just testing the water here... I have a contact who is able to reproduce more or less any part in genuine Carbon Fibre, Kevlar or even reproduce parts in fibre glass/GRP. I was thinking along the lines of the rear spoiler, front splitter, strut caps, bonnets, wings, engine covers etc. Basically any panel or piece of trim. I know that we have a forum member from the USA who can produce these but in all honesty I feel having these made on home soil saves us delivery and import taxes. The prices I have briefly discussed with my contact would be roughly: Rear spoiler - £200 Extended rear spoiler - £250 VR6 engine cover (smooth, no DOHC/VR6 script) - £50 Strut Caps - £50 a pair These prices are based on a group buy of 5 people using Carbon Fibre. I feel these are realistic prices. Parts will be made out of layered pure Carbon Fibre and not just skinned products. I.e we use a genuine product which has been worked to achieve a desired gloss, a mould is then created from the genuine part and then the final product is made from layered Carbon fibre using the mould. They will be finished in a high gloss. Alternatively if you desire a part made in carbon/kevlar not listed, just ask and I'll see what I can do. Please express any interest or thoughts. :thumbleft:
  4. Nope, 350bhp.. Well 348bhp. Apparently it was a race prepared engine which revved to 9,000rpm and was in his Vento race car. Or so I've heard through the grapevine.
  5. What about the Grant motorsport VR6 N/a engines which were circa 350bhp? Does anyone know what they had done to them?
  6. Genuine VW bearing - 1H0498625 - £44.64 per side last time I checked. Expect that to have risen though as I've found VW prices go up every quarter, even if by a few penny's. SKF were the VW supplier for bearings when the corrado was being produced. So a Genuine VW bearing, stamped VW is actually produced by SKF. SKF part number VKBA1491 - £23.58 for both at Andrew Pages (that was trade price though).
  7. Corrado cigarette lighter and full housing £12 - Does the illumination work?
  8. yeah, as stated by daleyboy; the Mk4 discs have a different offset to the MK3 discs. So you can use either MK3 or MK4 Calipers and carriers, but you have to use the MK3 discs and pads. If you use MK4 discs and pads you will need to offset the calipers to make up the difference. It would be stupid to go down this route imo..

    VW Suppliers

TPS sell genuine VW parts. I'm looking for genuine VW suppliers. Example: So a Corrado VR6 tie rod/end, sold as a genuine VW part at a dealer or from TPS is actually made by a company called TRW, but stamped VW. Sold at a dealer for £140 a side. TRW sell the same Corrado VR6 tie rod/end, just stamped TRW instead of VW, but it's identical in everyway.. For £60ish. Simply put, I love genuine quality, just not the prices.

    VW Suppliers

Thanks for your responses. I forgot about Valeo. I believe they do the heatermatrix too? Lemforder; are they OE suppliers or pattern parts/OE quality though? I do know that Lemforder are a subsidiary brand of ZF who I know are the OE suppliers of the LHD steering components. Any more info like this? It will only help us all. :)

    VW Suppliers

Anyone? I'm specifically looking for the OE suppliers of rubber bushes? Topmounts, wishbone bushes etc etc
  12. I've spent the past few hours stripping a 2.8 VR6 engine down which came from a 1997 MK3 Golf. As I removed the gearbox I noticed the flywheel 'looked' worked. I've removed it and placed it next to a spare one I had. The one just removed looks noticeably thinner and weights approximately 1kg less (on the bathroom scales ) than the spare I had.. Both have the part number: 021 105 273 H. The only difference in markings on the rear is that the lighter one says 'F&S 1' and the heavier says 'F&S 4'. It's not had enough weight stripped off to have been intentionally lightened (well in my opinion anyway) and I was under the impression all 12v VR6 flywheels were the same? Maybe it's been skimmed due to warping in the past? Can anyone shed some light on this? On a lightened flywheel note, I was actually going to get one of these lightened anyway, can anyone advise on the weight I should be aiming for?
  13. No TB unfortunately, that has long been sold. PM'd about the inlet.
  14. £15 posted. yes I would. I don't have the studs unfortunately.
  15. I'm trying to compile a list of suppliers who make parts on behalf of VW. For example: TRW or ZF make the steering components SKF make the bearings (well, used to) ATE for the brakes etc etc If anyone has any information on suppliers could you jot it down here.. It would be useful to know where to get some OE quality parts for some not so OE prices..
  16. Approximately £50 now, and that was a few months back :shocked!:
  17. I have one, no damage, good condition. £15?
  18. Check Here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?68461-Clearout-Mainly-G60-VR6-Loads!-List-Updated-22nd-July It's down at the bottom of the pictures/list £40 posted. I'll PM you too.
