It just wasn't your day Kris. Firstly the bird sh!t and then this. How did the othe Corrado fair? It must have been one of two people :norty: :norty:

cheers for the heads up on the nylock loli need some part numbers
Most VW items are standard metric threads, so it's just a case of measuring up :)

Nyloc nuts will melt if used on manifolds! Try this place http://www.stainlessmiddleton.co.uk/
I ordered some stuff for my Golf and they were delivered within 24 hours. Buying stainless works out only slightly less than OE, but it looks so much better.

Thanks for the advice. With regards to the cost of parts, I was quoted (from the dealers) £69.70 + VAT for the cable assembly just for one side. Should there be some kind of kit available that provides the parts for both sides? Any reference number/code etc would be appreciated so that I can ask for the right thing. This seems quite expensive just for the one side, and although only the left side had broken, I wouldn't really want to go to the trouble of fixing this only to have the right side break later on, so may as well do both.
I did consider a moonroof, but I really do prefer the body coloured metal sunroof, so unless it will be considerably less expensive (i.e. I can get a complete moonroof for say £100, then I think I'll aim to fix what I've got.
Slightly OT but I spotted you on the roundabout at the top of Commercial Rd this morning.
I have a complete moonroof, motor and loom available for £80 if you get stuck.
Cheers for the offer re: the moonroof. I'll get back to you on that if I decide to take that route.
Re: being spotted, were you in your C? I'm normally on the look-out but didn't notice you.
No worries.
I was in the Polo GTI. The Corrado is wrapped up for the winter :)

Are the parts still available from VW..Ian
I beliEve so. If you replace the lifters and other misc parts which have worn it will cost well in excess of £110 IIRC.

It will be expensive, last time I checked with VW they quoted £600+. You can do most of the work yourself by removing the entire sunroof unit and paying for someone to do the tricky part. I did the whole job myself and it's really not as bad as it sounds, plus you have the satisfaction when it fully works afterwards. You could also fit a Passat moonroof to save you the trouble. I have one if you are intersted?
It's some time since I did mine but I am fairly local if you get stuck.

Make sure you buy a couple of sets of spline bits as they do round off quite easily. If you happen to break or round off any of the bolts there's a guy on the Polo forum who has some spares.
-
-
I've recently fitted these on my Polo. Got to say I'm very pleased from what I have experienced so far.
-
Just been quoted £150 for a Golf Mk2 roof front roof pillars and to repair slight rust and paint the scuttle. Your quote seems a bit steep.
-
Better looking than the fat arse Scirocco :gag:
-
theres no paint on these wheels then? just clear coatThat's right!
-
There's a set of 1995 Passat rears with mechs at my local scrappy if anyone wants some. Not sure on the price though.
-
I used to have this problem with my 16V. Copious amounts of boiling water on the caliper used to do the trick, however you will get the same problem once the temp drops again.
-
Single wipers too!
-
Not that I've ever seen any on a Corrado but I be there are some with neon lighting :nono:
-
Yeah just sent an email saying that they cater for old sh!t box fiestas and saxos yet they dont cater for the best imo fwd car of the 90's madness imo! That's one way to win them over :D :D
-
but nothing in the pipeline:lol:[/quote:2et984l6]
that's because the old stock has been exhausted :brickwall:
-
I asked too:
Hello Martin
At the moment there are no plans to be doing this exhaust, but further down
the line who knows, but nothing in the pipeline at the moment
Regards Dan

You can get them repaired, but they will never be as perfect as when they left the factory. I have used BJV for some BBS wheels which had some very bad flat spots. They were good enough to get through the MOT and balanced up OK despite still being a little distorted after the refurb.

............and a set of Irwin bolt removers :)
-
I have an optimate for the bike but I wouldn't use it on the Rad.I got one of these for about £20 from my local auto factors, have charged it once in 6 months and the battery is still fine even though at the moment I only move the car around the drive once or twice a week.
I have used an Optimate for the past 5 years with no issues :)
