1. New ISV and re-solder in faulty ISV wiring sorted this ;)
2. I seem to get everything I need from it - great advice, friendly banter, spare parts ultimately leading to constant improvements to my C. I agree with Jamie, out of all the forums I've used, this one is in fact very 'car-focused' which totally works for me. It helps that it isn't full of d*ckheads, there's a lot of clued up people on here. Only been using the forum for a year so can't vouch for how it's changed over the years Posted stuff on here before which saw replies in half an hour! I'd say that's pretty good
3. Silly question this but here goes - are there any legal matters to consider if using these indicators on a UK spec C? Been considering this mod for a while now as these are pretty rare over here
4. Who gives a f*ck whether the bloke he's living with is an ex paratrooper / prison officer or whatever this dick claims him to be?? That's not gonna stop anybody who actually wants to kick his head in - kicking his head in for cash or for headlights for kicks whatever. Not that I'm condoning that sort of behavior of course... ;) Seriously though, is this a guy kid? Things like this can turn real ugly real fast, lets hope the kid comes to his senses and plays ball Good luck
5. Holy sh*t that's a good price Got Audi TT seats in mine so all good ;)
6. Had this happen a few times now - If I turn ignition off when the rear wiper is still going it blows the fuse. Locate fuse position 3 and replace 15A fuse, ignition on - rear wiper all good again. Strange? My initial thoughts are rear wiper motor could be on it's way out. Anyone experienced this before?
7. Makes sense, I probably would have done the same. That's some seriously tripped out Jem you got there fella! Nice one. Any guitar that holds it's value is worth keeping IMO. Funny really because I often think guitars hold their value better than cars....
8. Hi Nick, You have been busy eh? Nice trim, glad to see you bit the bullet and got it done. Will def have to have a butchers when it's all in, let me know if you need a hand putting it back together. TBH I don't normally like cream interior as it doesn't match the stock black dash (plus dog would dirty it up in no time mate ;)) but trim the dash in cream as well now and wow... That looks pretty sweet I must say! Is that your new Ibanez on your profile pic??
9. 2 x Faults found Diagnosis here: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?77161-Idle-Stabilizing-Valve-%28ISV%29-Testing&p=933075#post933075 Misfiring ceased.
10. All sorted. 2 x Faults found. Valve door on ISV unit not opening correctly, in fact barely at all (clicks but only opens partially). Replacement ISV unit fitted (pinched off an audi) I can confirm that the valve door opens fully under load when attached to 12 Volts, thanks David. I must also assume that the 2mm gap between door and valve opening is normal as the replacement ISV unit fitted had this gap as well and the car is running smoother than ever. 12 Volts not reaching ISV unit. Break in ISV wiring. A simple re-solder and tidy up sorted this ;) After a quick adjustment of the idle screw (located top of throttle body) the car now idles perfectly at 900-1000 RPM. Thanks for your help guys, Ten Ton
11. Good on you Dumptyboy for letting us all know ;) Always tough getting the measure of somebody on a forum, suggest using PayPal in future (presuming of course you didn't) for transactions like this. If things go sour, you can inform PayPal and they'll either refund your money (up to £500) or go legal against the party not playing ball. Saves your ass from jail time if you fancy breaking something dear to him at least...
12. Sounds familiar ha! The missus has been anti-Corrado girl since the day I bought mine but then I do toy with her when she's in the car... ;) bless she's always holding on and complaining how sharp the brakes are
13. Bound to happen eh... I think it's a great idea the less components in a car the better. Bit concerned about fail safes though, steering your car out of harms way if steering fails and all that
14. This is the key Like Bacon said if you strip out all the old shag*ed bits and replace with new OEM or uprated parts you'll have a pretty decent and reliable motor at the end of it. It's far too easy to listen to people wanting to sell up because they're having a rough time with their C. Yes, it's a pain in the ar*e when cars go wrong but there are ALOT of cars out there that go wrong, it's not just Corrados. Unfortunately neglect is all too common place these days it’s no wonder some of us fall out of love with them. Having said this, I do plan to sell up and get something bigger (Audi A4 Estate perhaps) for the simple reason that the dog is getting too big for the boot! Love my C otherwise and wish I could keep it
15. Sounds like an immobilizer issue to me, or electrical fault of some kind. Haven't watched your youtube video yet but this happened to me once. I turned the key and got absolutely nothing - nadda - f*ck all. Then I realized my immobilizer was partially engaged. A simple crank of the steering wheel (right I think) sorted it.
16. Correcting some idle issues at the moment on my C (idle hunting) and want to eliminate fitted ISV. A few questions: To test ISV I presume I can jump from the 12V to the 2 pin terminals mounted on the ISV? Can someone confirm correct operating functionality for ISV i.e should it buzz or make a sound during use? What are correct meter readings during use etc. When ISV is removed the internal flap is stuck shut - Is this normal? If yes I presume it opens under load? I have noticed that the internal flap inside the ISV doesn't quite close fully leaving a small 2mm gap between the flap and internal gap wall (pic below is identical to mine) - I would have thought the flap would need to close right across the gap for it to function normally? This would explain why when I pinch the small vac pipe shut reducing the amount of air flowing into the ISV (flap side) I can attain perfect idle. Please confirm. Also, If anyone has any spare ISV's for a 9A (must be in good working order) that you don't mind letting go of just in case mine is in fact faulty, could you let me know? Cheers, C 1992 16V 2.0 (9A)
17. Balls of steel really gotta rate the man ;) Couldn't have gotten a better sponsor too! (Red Bull)
18. Pretty simple project this one really - See link below http://corradog60project.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/g60-badgeless-grille-doing-it-yourself.html Good luck
19. Thanks appreciate you scanning the book for me! Gotta be in there somewhere ;) Funny what you were saying about airflow because it definitely sounds like there's too much air in the system. When I squeeze the angled hose attached to ISV (circled in previous post) I reduce the amount of air into the ISV unit allowing me to correct the idle sorting the problem. This was originally why I was hoping for some type of idle screw (like on the KR) so I could calm things down a little.
20. Might sign up with these guys too as I MAY be selling up for an Audi A4 Estate... ;)
21. I would have thought VW still sell these? Last time I checked they were around 40 quid plus vat. Wouldn't mind knowing the cost and availability myself so might give VW a call, will let you know if I do
22. Thanks Aide will def get my hands on something like this for the future. Found this too which could be useful: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Injection-Management-Technical-including-modifying/dp/0837603005 I've got a feeling fueling could be an issue as it intermittently misfires sometimes whilst driving, not by much but enough for me to notice ;) Considering new fuel injectors + seals etc as the the injectors look like they've never been changed and the car is 20 years old so needs doing really! Fuel pump primes on start up but again this looks as old as the car so might replace this as well. Would love to do fuel lines too but this only increases costs further... Sean re throttle damper - Do you mean the the adjustable nut and bolt that sits on top of the throttle body? See circled in pic TO CONFIRM - Circled in pic above is in fact the Idle Screw (16V 2.0 9A)
