1. hmm that's what I thought, needed to be sure. My C's started idling funny, when it gets warm idle starts to bounce from 800 RPM - 1200 RPM in a rhythmical fashion. If I pinch angled ISV hose (#051133997A or see circled in pic) I can achieve a perfect steady idle at 1000RPM. Hose looks fine but I think I'll swap it anyway, jubilee clip is also nice and tight. All other vac seals (or the ones I can get to) look fine. Throttle body + inlet manifold recently been cleaned with carb cleaner. ISV not so sure about... although it was working fine before i rebuilt ignition (new distributor, cap + arm, HT leads, ignition module, ignition coil, new battery, new plugs etc). Checked all fuses. ok. Haven't checked the throttle body potentiometer yet... Ideas?
2. Can anyone confirm if the 9A has an idle screw on the throttle body? Can't see one on schematics anywhere Cheers, C 16V 2.0 9A
3. You're right - Deox Gel http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RUST-REMOVER-DEOX-GEL-/251162106070?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3a7a6d98d6 For larger applications or parts that can't be submerged. Cheers!
4. Impressive build thread, just stumbled on it over a cup of tea and have now read he lot! Tempted to try some Deox-C to remove small amounts of developing rust (not much rust at all on my C fortunately). Can it be directly applied / reapplied to say a inner wheel arch and left over night etc or is it only for dipping?
5. The missus is virtually begging me to sell mine and get an Audi A4 Estate instead! Despite having comfy Audi TT seats in my C it isn't as comfortable or as smooth or as quiet as an A4 apparently... Women.
6. You know. I tend not to enter into political debate because really let’s face it, we’ll never be able to sway the minds or opinions of overweight, out of date, upper class politicians that quite frankly all drink from the same toilet in my opinion. However, I do tend to think that we all need reminding from time to time, the importance of good old fashioned hard graft – You don’t get something for nothing after all. If you're complaining that the system isn't fair then you're sitting on your ar*e for too long with way too much time on your hands IMO. The ones who succeed don't complain, they take the bull by the horns and change things, adapting along the way, they see things through to completion accepting changes they have no control over and using them to their advantage. Unfortunately it seems the common response to anything these days is to have a winge about whatever decision is made in government (good or bad) we are British after all! There's heaps of stuff I don't agree with but the reality of it is - You have to learn to adapt. For example, if you're on sh*t money and are struggling to pay the rent (as I'm sure most of us are), instead of moaning about it - change your f*cking job, get educated, cut back on luxury items, move to a different part of the world if you have to. The government makes it far too easy for Billy No Bucks to walk into a Job Centre and sign on as if they were picking up their Nan's prescription. Graft your ar*e off for years and pay your taxes and then yes, benefits should be made available to you, but giving money away for free? What a load of bullsh*t. Spongers like this are no better than a beggar expecting money to fall into their laps. ---------- Post added at 2:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 2:07 PM ---------- Agreed.
7. Got pics? I could be tempted Cheers,
8. No worries, it looked like a fairly decent from what I remember. Let me know if you decide to get rid of your 7 slat - will gladly take this off your hands for a fair price Cheers,
9. Back to the Future - One of my all time faves for sure 9/10 Yoooou know you love it ;) The missus happened to point out that DeLoreans look a little like Corrados too which I found quite amusing
10. I think we all feel like this sometimes! emu - Garages are meant for two things: cars or gyms. If you haven't got either of these in your garage then sell your garage instead. lol
11. Are you getting rid of your 7 slat? Might be interested in this if you are provided it's in good nick Just seen this fella:
12. This man started in the London underground busking his ar*e off for pennies and cheeseburgers and now he travels the world working with some of the best musicians in their field His name: Antonio Forcione Probably one of the worlds most expressive and most versatile guitarists I've ever heard and had the pleasure to get quite drunk with! ;)
13. Making the kit yourself is probably the way to go as the kits are pretty serious money i know - good job man gettin it all done for £500! Did you stash it all away in the boot?
14. Do you still have the ignition coil and module?
15. How much did you end up paying for this and how does it compare to coilovers? Would be great to see some pics of it all installed
16. You can unplug the impulse sender and the car will run fine for a good 5-6 months, in fact I'm sure there are some people that don't run them at all! I wouldn't advise this though especially if you've had the battery out at some point re-setting the ECU in the process. Can't be good to run your motor without one for long periods of time. I'm curious - what happens at 1000RPM? If your engine coughs and cuts out when you hit 1000RPM there could be a problem with your throttle body potentiometer / connector. Considering the state of your impulse sender connector it wouldn't surprise if you throttle body connector has perished as well forcing the car into Safe mode (limited) And no - a VR6 ISV won't work in a 16v
17. Sounds normal to me. Had a speedo that wasn't working once so I downloaded a digital speedo app on my iPhone and just propped my phone up in front of original speedo for a few days. Worked a treat! I did notice though that 30MPH felt marginally faster than usual (could have just been in my head though eh)
18. The man has taste ;) Gotta love IMAGE wheels. Shame they're not Billet 4's mate!
19. Great pics David ;) 3 pin connector as well same as mine, bracket is very similar indeed Either way my ignition module looks shot to hell so I will def take this off your hands even if it is just for testing purposes for the moment (presuming of course your module works!). At the very least I'll be able to fit my old coil back on which I know was working albeit intermittently. No worries about you keeping the coil mate. How much do you want for it? ---------- Post added at 10:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:40 AM ---------- Glad to hear I'm not the only one! Probably a good idea to snap them up if you can find em in that case. Cheers bud will def be grabbing the module of off David BTW - Good luck selling your IMAGE wheels fella, they're lovely! Been looking at some Image 3 Piece Billet 4's for a while now myself... ;)
20. Probably best to try the coil as well I think if it is in fact off a 9A - module and coil if that's cool with you please mate? I didn't actually need the coil at first as I bought a BOSCH KR alternative from GSF recommended by GSF. This worked for 15 miles before my engine cr*pped out on me (hall sender failure, brand new distributor now fitted). However, tried to turn ignition over after the new distributor was fitted and the car now won't start. Seemed logical to remove the new coil that was recently fitted so that I could fit the old coil back on (old coil worked just misfired from time to time) to rule out the new coil. Turns out the new coil is in fact faulty which could have been something to do with my engine suddenly dying on me last week as well so I now need a new coil as well... Bit of a ball ache this one, appreciate your help!
