1. I have the following for sale from my 60K mile one previous owner 1990 LHD G60. All these parts are all like new, not faded, no damage anywhere and from a non smoked in car. It's the black and very dark blue pattern cloth. I'm replacing this with a leather interior, the front seat covers only are available as I re-trimmed my original seats frames and foams with the leather covers from the interior I sourced second hand. I have photos but they will not upload to the forum at the moment, I can email them to anyone interested just drop me a PM. Will have another go at uploading them here later Rear bench set, both bases, both backs and the hump, £50 the lot or may split. Rear door cards, £20 each. Front door cards £20 each. These are no good for a RHD car. Front passenger seat (RHD drivers seat) covers, these have seen very little use and are in mint condition, £40 the lot. Would make an as new RHD drivers seat with some foams from a passenger seat. Open to offers on job lots etc and happy to send stuff with Interparcel economy service.
2. Yep, I agree. It's a close call IMO. The Corrado handles better than a FWD Coupe, the four pot's are easier to work on with cheaper parts and better fuel economy. Like you say the Audi's are better built and the five pot engines sound awesome, I had a 10V 1992 10V Coupe for Eight years, decatted it sounded great.
3. Great to see so many cars still getting used properly. I'm going to underseal mine with Waxoil soon as it's going to be her first winter on salted roads, got a set of tatty wheels as well with snow tyres. I've only had my current G60 since March, I used my previous one for Three years solid with not a single issue, all be it Ten years ago. Drove a 2.3 Audi Coupe for years until I unexpectedly picked up another Corrado, have to say the Corrados a better car all round:cheers:.
4. Just out of curiosity how many of us use our Corrado's as their everyday transport? I have a Golf MK II 16V and an Audi S2, however I use my G60 Corrado for everyday driving as it's just fantastic!! More refined and economical than the Golf, yet nearly as much fun and faster when it boils down to it. The S2 is just silly, basically a track car so that isn't practical.
5. Mine is staying completely standard, all bar three Aux gauges in the centre console. The cars only covered a very easy 70K miles and I've just had the charger done by JMR as well as fully servicing everything else myself so she drives pretty much like new. She's never had a hard bump but has picked it's fair share of parking dents, including a guy I work with stoving in the O/S door last week reversing his tossing Honda!!! So a full respray is on the cards very soon. I have the S2 to scare myself with and throw money at so the G60 get's an easy life. I'll keep a look out for meets as well, be cool to get a shot of the Two cars side by side.
6. Yeah I was amazed when I spotted your car in the for sale section, looked once, looked again then I was sure that H678 XAB was my old car. Very glad to hear your keeping her, after the effort you've gone to getting her back on the road it would be crazy to sell her on for a loss. Good on you for taking the car on and getting it road worthy again!!! I don't have any pics of the car during my ownership as they were on a lap-top that died completely. I'd really like to see the car again but I'm 100 miles away in mid Wales so a meet up may have to wait but I'd really like to see the car again as well as meet the saviour! If your getting her acid stripped expect some nasty **** around the O/S/R wheel arch, I know there's a load of filler in there. Also the O/S/F front inner wing was welded in by me after a bump so may need some attention as that was Ten years ago. We have to meet up sometime though, there's only a handful of LHD G60's in the UK and us owners have a duty to keep the cars alive!
7. WOW!!!!! I owned H678 XAB Ten years ago, purchased her in 2001 if I remember rightly and owned her for about Three years. It's a German import which I got from a guy who was stationed in the army out there, I was the first full time UK resident owner. It was his pride and joy and he'd really looked after the car, was on about 100,000 KM's when I took ownership. It used to have electric half leather Recaros with matching rear seats and leather door cards, which I sold as I got an offer I couldn't refuse for just the interior. I replaced it with a mint black cloth interior which I had to hand, I also fitted the late spec bonnet which came from my crashed VR6. The car was in really nice condition when I sold it, all very standard apart from 17@ Momo wheels and driving like a dream. Fantastic to see she's still alive!!!!!! I've not long picked up another LHD G60, a Dutch car this time which I imported myself. Dam I wish I had a spare grand and the space as I'd have this back for nostalgic value.
8. My Corrado is back up and running very happily as of today. Had my charger back fro JMR for over a week but I've been delayed in get her finished due to the oil feed union that locates into the charger itself fracturing around the feed holes upon tightening. I was going very steady with a short 1/4 drive ratchet and 13mm socket when I got that sickening feeling of a thread suddenly stripping, but was relived to find that wasn't the case. The original fastening must have been over stressed by whoever worked on her previously and in way I'm glad it broke when it did as the thought of it going due to vibration with the engine running doesn't bare thinking about. Nice clean break with no stray shards, phew!!!! Anyway I rummaged through my various unions and couldn't find one identical, the closest I could find came from a K-jet fuel system and only had Two holes (as opposed to Three) and a slightly smaller center bore. Now, the engineer in me said it'll be fine given how restrictive the feed hose itself is, glad I got a replacement as I could only just blow down my old one going Blue in the face. The return was fine, checked it very carefully, I'm guessing it was replaced when the charger was last off. Not wanting to leave anything to chance I got on the blower to TPS and ordered what they assured me would be the correct union @ 25 odd quid!!!! With a weeks wait for it to arrive from the fatherland. It turns up on Friday of last week and they'd ordered up the union that screws into the head itself, no use to me!! Get back on the phone again and after giving them the part number from ETKA I find that 'correct' union is in stock and just £2. It arrives this morning and is exactly the same as the K-jet one I so nearly used, just shiny and new. So I phone them up yet again to be assured that part supplied is correct and supercedes the original Three hole union, which in my opinion is quite weak. You live and learn!!!! I found blacks for the oil ways which I kept in place during installation to prevent dirt from entering the unit and left the one in the return for initial priming before removing it and feeding at least another 150ml through whilst priming again to be 100% sure. A bit messy but I wanted to be sure I got as much oil in as I could. I used a spotless clear pipe tightly inserted into the feed with a small funnel and let gravity do the rest, worked very well. New oil and filter, double check all fixings, wind over with coil lead off for min, connect coil then fires up straight away as near to silently as possible. I've only done 20 miles so far and have checked everything over again, all good. Can't wait to get the next 480 out the way!!!
9. 35 years old. Started off 16 years ago with MK II Golfs and Scirrocos, then got my first Corrado, a 1996 VR6 on 50K miles 12 years ago, foolishly wrote that off within a year:bonk: Replaced that with a LHD German spec 1991 G60 on 60K which I ran happily for the next Three years and sold for a profit. Had a break then with a couple of MK II GTi's followed by Audi Coupes (still got an S2), then unexpectedly picked up another LHD G60 in March of this year. This one's a real belter, Dutch spec 1990 and highly original. Never been smashed, great history and only 65K miles. Got a few parking dents which will be sorted over the next year. Just put her on road again today after a charger rebuild by JMR. Never ran anything other VW's/Audis.
10. O/S Wing gone, sorry. Still got the N/S one.
11. Fair play for doing the job yourself. I went with a rebuild from JMR in the end mainly due to time constraints but there was also the fear of dropping a bollock of some sort. VERY impressed by the service, Johns highly knowledgeable and a genuinely sound guy who cares about his customers, would happily recommend him and I'm in the trade myself.
12. Yet again, all the above has gone/been used on my own car I'm afraid. Sorry guys!
13. Hey Gary, All those parts have gone, I used the speedo cable on my Golf and the pedal box went ages ago.
14. Sorry. Can't help with any of the above parts apart from maybe the power steering hose. Will check tomorrow and PM Chris if I have the hose, have a feeling I sold it to a mate to use on a Golf though.
15. I'm afraid to say I can't help with any of the pars you guys are after, I do have one early wing but it's tatty and needs paint.
16. Yep, it was a Red 16V. Sorry to hear it got shunted, though glad to hear it's lived to see another day. I hear what your saying about the 24V car, that's a bargain whatever way you look at it, however, would it not be best to invest in a completely original car? Especially in the long term, my brother intends to keep the car for some years as he's yet to own his own Corrado though he's always wanted one and loves mine. He very nearly bought the G60 I have now, in fact he had first refusal on the car but was put off by the LHD and the fact it needed a major service including a cam belt and charger rebuild. So I think he'll keep it as a second car for special occasions, weekends etc and pick up something cheap and Japanese to hack round in out there. Thanks again for for the offer of more advice, much appreciated. Also thanks for taking the time to reply in such detail.
17. Thanks very much for the highly detailed answer, so they are very scarce out there, much as I though. I've done a little poking about on the net and came across the 16V up for $9,500 and the original import figure of 13 cars. I was expecting more to have found their way over, but I suppose the hassle put people off. He hasn't got a particular car in mind yet, hence me asking about values to help decide what would be the best model to ship out. As you quite rightly point out it will be a pain in the ass so it need's to be worth it it in the long run. Sounds like a G60 would be the best bet considering there's only one rough one out there. When my brother was last out there for a long stay a year or so ago he was mates with a guy with a 16V on South island. I'll find out his name latter, the odds are you know of him what with such a small number of Corrados being on your roads.
18. My Brother is emigrating too New Zealand at some point in the next year. He's considering shipping a Corrado out as a longer term investment, as well as to enjoy. Are there any members from NZ on here who could give me some insight as to what they are worth out there?
19. Hey John, Thought I'd take a proper look at your 16VG60 build thread. That has got to be an awesome car to to track, lovely build. I'm so glad my my car came without a sunroof:cheers:. Be in touch very soon re charger-rebuild.:g60: My title refers to my Audi, not a VW!!! http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39279 Details here, and I've done a lot since the last update.
20. Really pleased to hear your happy, you should be as you have the makings of a show standard car there, what with the mileage, history and unmolested condition. I expect your outside polising now as it's a lovely day here, going to do a few little job's on my Golf today. Then tomorrow I'll pull the G60 out and remove the charger ready to send off next week. When I get mine on the road again we should hook up for a blast and some pic's at one of the many stunning sports around here, be good if we could find some other South Wales bod's to tag along. There's nothing quite like the sight of few Corrado's in convoy. Have to say I very much enjoyed working on the car as well as the driving the car over too you, it's goes better then I expected, certainly no slouch, OK it's no G60 or VR but it cruises along at 60/70 very happily with good overtaking power. Should be just the job for your daily commute and great on fuel on those nice straight A roads. I got over 35 MPG on the way over and as you know it's a hilly route from mine, I came over via Llangynidr top.. Which for future reference is a more direct route than via Cick though very bendy and tight in places, meant to to tell you on the way back but we were too busy discussing cars and women. It's quite normal to see the temp go up to 100 if your stood still for a while. I checked and double checked that your fan kicks in when it should, so you have no worries there. It's also quite normal for it keep running for a few min's after you stop the car so don't be concerned if it does. How come you got stuck in Gilwern for an hour, was there an accident or something?
21. Just before I set off, here's some more pic's for you.
22. No worries Gabriel, if I didn't know I'd ask myself. I'll post up some more pic's latter so you can see exactly what I mean. Just about to take your car for a short test drive before double checking the track and camber, once I finish my current cup of Coffee that is. If I get time I'll try and take some nice pic's of the car itself for you, my drive isn't too bad a background.
23. They look mint, didn't realise that they were Genuine VAG items, a have a near identical set in Black with red script that came with my LHD G60, I thought they were very quality when I replaced them with OE rubber mats. I also prefer the genuine rubber mats as they catch more crud. Good luck with the sale, can't see these being round long. If anyone is interested in a very lightly used Black LHD set, please drop me a PM as opposed to mutilating this guys thread.
